leaving your room when people are over
Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten.
this is the saddest scene in this movie

Here's to the people who...
… Ask “can I kiss you?” or lean in halfway and then wait for you to close the gap.
… Tap the item of clothing and check to see if you’re okay removing it.
… Respect your boundaries *without* pointing out how “nice” and “patient” they’re being and how very hard they’re struggling to be okay with it.
… Surprise you with kisses *only after* you’ve told them how much you enjoy getting surprise kisses from them.
… Remember where you don’t like to be touched.
… Appreciate your body as it is and when it changes.
… Communicate before, during, and after intimacy.
Here’s to the people who make consent a natural part of relationships, as it should be.
why
are we rewarding people for not being rapists im
idk is acknowledgement that big of a reward? when we live in a culture that actively encourages sexual assault, offering positive reinforcement for the correct behavior doesn’t seem like a bad idea, especially when most of the people reading this post are teens and NEED to be taught what that behavior is
people aren’t born malicious but they also aren’t born with all the answers. and kids and teens are SPONGES, they just soak up information from the environments around them. the previous comment is spot-on.
we need to encourage respectful behavior and show consent as an extremely important, romantic, and good thing. we need to promote the importance of being aware of the feelings/body language of the people around you and especially of any romantic partners you have. otherwise the only thing they are going to have to go by is the stuff they see in the media and entertainment which can be pretty awful [or at least, very misleading] sometimes.
