Biography of Tara Fela-Durotoye
If consistency were a person, then, it would have been named Tara Fela-Durotoye. The Nigerian leading lawyer and make-up artist, also known as Tara Òrékeléwà was born into the family of John Ejegi Sagay and Felicia Omaghomi on the 6th of March 1977. Tara's parents got divorced when she was just eight months old and so, her stepmother raised her till adulthood.
Tara attended the Command Children School and Nigerian Navy Secondary School and from there, she finished her tertiary education at the University of Lagos, Nigeria bagging a degree in law. Her business, House of Tara is an internationally acclaimed make-up house and has seen multiple branches and clientele in various countries of the world. The multimillionaire business started when Tara was just twenty years from the corner of her room in the university and from there, she expanded her capacity by attending business schools in Lagos, Nigeria, Abu-Dhabi, Yale, Stanford and the Harvard Kennedy School. In 2013, Tara was listed on Forbes as one of the "20 Young Power Women In Africa" and in 2020, Forbes recognised her as one of "Africa's 50 Most Powerful Women".
Tara Fela-Durotoye is happily married to Fela Durotoye, the one-time presidential candidate for the Alliance for New Nigeria in 2019. She is blessed with three handsome boys and according to her husband, he could not have asked for a better wife than Tara as she is the biggest cheerleader and motivator for the whole family.
When asked how she was able to balance family and business, Tara Fela-Durotoye replied by saying, "It is important to marry someone who buys into what you are doing."

1. Your parental background notwithstanding, your consistency and determination to succeed will go a long mile. Who your parents are is never a permanent determining factor of how you will turn out to be.
Tara has made us realise that embracing one's imperfections will make one's light shine brighter.
2. Start with what you have. Tara Fela-Durotoye started her business with just 15,000 Nigerian Naira, yet, today, she is a multimillionaire who has a foothold in the Forbes ranking. Do not underestimate what you have because the fig seed you have today becomes a large tree which all birds perch on only when you water and tend to it well.

Wouldn't it be so beautiful that no matter how much you fall, you can always get up because you know it is not the end? That's how it feels to have a strong mind. And this is the first step to creating opportunities.
1. HAVE A STRONG MIND
Most people are unaware of the fact that having a mind strong enough to persevere is what truly opens doors. Many of the individuals who are now role models for us began with this. These people, like Thomas Edison, Oprah Winfrey, Cynthia Okafor, Tinu-Philips and even the founder of KFC, didn't give up no matter what, and this opened the door to their opportunities. There's no reason to be afraid of failures; failures only pave the way for a success that can be held accountable.
2. CREATE YOUR SUCCESS PICTURE IN YOUR HEAD
Certainly, having a strong willpower to keep going is essential, but it is equally important to have a vision of where you want to be in a few years' time. Not everyone has the ability to do this and so, you must intentionally hone this skill in you. It doesn't matter what you name it—daydreaming, wishing, imagination, or anything else—not everyone has this ability. It all depends on you because not everyone is capable of optimism or imagination.

Recently, everything looked so bleak
Contracts within my reach slip,
I ran after some deceiving opportunities and somehow it was like a futile chase.
I was the mantis, my mind, the cicada
but I wasn't aware that right behind me was an oriole looking for an opening to jump at me.
Stalking, peeking, following, lurking,
A never-ending vicious cycle.
I saw a light, it beckoned to me.
But, in my folly, I didn't realise it was deceit.
I followed through and lo, I was in a loop once more.
Tangles, self-hatred, fear, tears,
It was a daily dose.
Then that hoarse voice told me,
Take it three times a day,
Seven days a week,
Four weeks non-stop.
I shook my head,
I knew I shouldn't heed but my willpower was only this strong.
I wasn't about to seek help,
After all everyone only wants to poke a scalpel at your sore
and pour in a bucketful of salt.
Helpless, hopeless, without a future.
Then, the Hillsong rhythm burst forth.
Very far away but the love wrapped me strongly.
I blinked, I had forgotten my true love.

3 Unusual Things Excellent Students Do During Examination Periods
Have you ever wondered what goes on in the head of the straight-A student in your class? Well, here it is!
Professor Jane was in charge of our examination centre that day and it has been well-known to every student in the whole university that she always ends up catching one or two students engaging in examination malpractice. My classmates were all riled up and everyone was sitting on pins and needles because you never could tell what you would do wrong to get to the Students Disciplinary Committee. It had been rumoured in previous years that Professor Jane had caused the expulsion of a final-year medical student because she borrowed a pencil in the examination hall.
I was not jittery like my friends and classmates were - in fact, I was so calm I had begun to think that I wasn't normal. My calmness eventually wore out when I got to the examination centre and found out that the examination had started fifteen minutes ago. My tears came spilling down without warning and I tried reasoning it out with Professor Jane…and as expected, she refused to let me in. Most of my classmates who were already in the examination hall were sympathising with me already and shaking their heads for what was to become of me and even I was sure I was doomed. However, one thing I had always remembered was an audio I had listened to titled, "You Are Valuable". I knew that there was nothing too good for me and so, I insisted on staying outside the hall, not giving up.
Some minutes later, Professor Jane walked towards the window and happened to see me standing under the scorching sun. Maybe it was a momentary motherly feeling or maybe it was because I had found favour in her sight, she beckoned to me and allowed me into the examination hall. Although she did not give me a minute extra, I was able to finish my work with speed.
When the results came out, it was shocking when my classmates saw my name topping the class list and they all asked me what my secrets were. I refused to tell them and only wanted to share my story here, with the audiences of Gbemi Writes and the world.
1. I activated the principle of the blessing of education.
Recently, especially as the school exams started, I have heard students sigh and shout, "All of these will not matter in heaven!", "Why must we do exams? Can't our lecturers trust us?", " Only a fool will read!" and a lot of strange sentences seem to constantly fly around.
However, if I had had that type of mentality, I would have left the examination venue immediately after I was refused entry. I would have flipped my skirt, turned and entered the nearest cafeteria to soothe my broken soul but I didn't do that because I knew that whatever I had found myself doing should be done well. I knew that education is not a curse and is in fact, a blessing because when I get educated, I get equipped for innovations, more wisdom and inventive thinking. I know that getting educated implied that more souls were relying on me to help them and doing very badly in my examination will disappoint God, myself and humanity.
Having the mindset of education being a great part of the blessings we have as human beings will cause you, as a student, to do your best without getting tired. It will help you find your schoolwork interesting, tutorials sweet to attend and exams the best things to do on earth.
2. I activated the mindset of working at ease.
My professor made me come in late yet I was able to top my class. This didn't come because I was intelligent or because I had read - of course, they also played a very integral part. But, of what use is one's intelligence if one were unable to calm down in an examination setting and write properly?
I knew that fidgeting and losing my calm at that moment was not going to help me get my desired results so, the business of wisdom I was in prompted me to take a deep breath, shut out the noise around me and focus on the sheets of examination papers before me. It isn't normal to fail any exams as a student, it is not the will of God for you, not the will of your parents, not the will of your teachers and I'm very sure, not your will either so why should unexpected situations that pop up suddenly determine how well you do in an examination?
Therefore, it is only right to apply the wisdom of ease to your examination. Refuse to be intimidated even when you have just a few minutes left, a real soldier does not leave the warfront until he either dies or he kills his enemies off. Likewise, you are the soldier, and the examination is your warfront, your examination papers are your enemies and you have to finish it off because you have been placed stronger and higher than any examination.

14 Countries You Never Knew Existed
Over one hundred and ninety countries have been recognised all over the world. Some, like a neon light shining upon them have continued to remain visible while others, as if covered by a fog have less people being aware about them.
1. Seychelle
One of the world's smallest countries. Seychelles is an island on the West Indian Ocean, off East Africa. Its capital - Victoria is located on the island of Mahé. Seychelle has no official language but English, French and Creole languages are more prominent. Although Seychelle is known as one of the least populous countries in the world, it boasts of the finest beaches in the world. The presence of its beautiful climate all year round makes it a place of attraction every time. If you would like to visit Seychelle, the Mahé island, Saint Anne National Park and Anse Georgette, which is a very great tourist centre for couples, are places you must visit.
2. Cyprus
Cyprus, officially called The Republic of Cyprus is an island country located south of the Anatolian Peninsula in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The citizens mainly speak Greek and Turkish although other minor languages like Cypriot Arabic exist.
Cyprus, which is a highly religious country is famous all over the world for its beauty, littered along its streets are sanctuaries, cathedrals, monasteries and old fortresses. One of the "must-visit" places in Cyprus is the Argos village.
As a tourist, you do not need to worry about the hospitality of the Cypriots as they are known worldwide as approachable, friendly, loyal to friends and traditions and also, lovers of entertainment.
3. The Principality of Monaco
Monaco which is situated at the north of the Mediterranean Sea surrounded on land by France and Italy being about 16 km away. The country which is the second smallest country in the world has been tagged as "the playground of the rich and famous" because of the presence of beautiful man-made beaches, clubs, designer malls and casinos. French is the official language in Monaco but other languages like English and Italian are spoken by the minority.
As one of the safest countries in the world, visiting Monaco as a tourist will be incomplete without your visit to the Oceanographic museum, Larvotto beach and Prince's Palace of Monaco where the rulers of Monaco live.
4. Armenia
One of the most beautiful and unique countries in the Middle East is Armenia. Being the first country to adopt Christianity, some of the world's oldest churches and monasteries grace the scenic view in Armenia. As one of the oldest countries in the world, the people boast of their unique alphabet, cuisine and rich history. Armenia is also recognised worldwide as one of the safest places to be and everyone who has not been there should ensure they do so.
5. Cambodia
Cambodia is a Southeastern Asian nation on the Indochinese mainland and is largely home to a lot of plains and rivers. Dubbed one of the poorest and most unsafe countries in the world, Cambodia has witnessed the incidence of wars in its recent history. Although Khmer is the official language in the country, English is also widely spoken. Tourists have been advised to remain security conscious in their visit to the country because Cambodia boasts of beautiful sceneries in the world. Places like Angkor-Wat are a must-see because the sunrise looks exceptionally beautiful there.
6. Serbia
Serbia is a landlocked country in South East Europe and also, one of the developing countries of the world. Loaded with diverse religions, fortresses, palaces, traditions and folklore, Serbians have been recognised as being lively and laid-back people.
Interesting places to visit in Serbia include the Church of Saint Sava which is the largest Orthodox church in the world so far and has not yet been fully finished.
7. Kosovo
Officially recognised as the Republic of Kosovo, Kosovo is a relatively new country which declared its independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008. Although the country is small, it was beautifully formed by the creator and has the youngest populations in Europe with its official languages as Albanian and Serbian. If you are visiting Kosovo, remember to enjoy the panoramic view of Prizren, the exciting exhibits of the Ethnological Museum and the monasteries which seem to become more beautiful as the years go by.
8. Romania
Another location where travellers never seem to get tired of visiting. Romania is a beautiful Eastern European country which is recognised everywhere as a place where the cost of living is low, good and healthy life is spinal, a top destination for music and art and a fast-growing international hub.
The official language of the country is Romanian and the main religion practised is Christianity. Although "Romance" could be culled from the name of the country, romance seems to be a far-fetched idea as Romanians have been discovered to be formal, suspicious and reserved with a strong need for privacy. However, Romanians admire modesty, humility, discipline and loyalty.
