Chapter Two: You are still the only thing, and everything I need in my life.
“Yes, Mike. Will is back. I saw him yesterday. Is this about the divorce?” Lucas asked, clearly annoyed as he rolled his eyes. Every break since the divorce, Mike has always gotten weird about Will being back.
And he knows why.
Neither of them directly told the rest of the party what happened. But one time, he saw them together. He didn’t say anything; they were drunk, but it was
senior year, graduation bash thrown by some random kid in their grade.
Lucas searched the entire house, weaving between crowds of drunk, sweaty, and more than likely horny teenagers. He ducked under drinks being passed, a joint being lit, and teenagers making out on every surface of the house. In the crowd of sweaty, gross, and drunk people, Mike and Will were nowhere to be found. So Lucas looked elsewhere. He searched their usual party sulking spots. Including the bathroom, outside, or Mike’s beat-up car. To his surprise, neither Mike nor Will could be found. Great! They did this every fucking time; they’d abandon the party to hang out with each other. Lucas had it up to here this time; it was their graduation! And they couldn’t get off each other's ass. (He realizes now that that should’ve been the first sign something was up.) He quickly took a swig of a drink handed to him by a basketball player and calmed down for a second. Lucas then leaned against Mike’s car and noticed a photo of Mike and Will that he hadn’t seen before. Mike was just staring at Will with the biggest smile on his face, and he’d been redder than a tomato. Beside it was a photo of Lucas and Mike. The expression on Mike's face is noticeably different in the photos. Lucas mumbled a drunken “huh," deciding that it could be nothing. It could mean nothing. He then walked away from Mike's car. He had taken a few steps to the closet entrance, trying not to lose balance on the way over.
