Please explain to me how you feel correct running a “Gorillaz critical” blog that focuses on criticizing harmful depictions of fictional racism, but you don’t feel it necessary to be critical of abuse, pedophilia, and child grooming ships.

We’re not trying to focus on just one thing, to start with. There are many issues that are worth discussing that we will throw into the shitpile.

The first two in that list might be difficult. Both of us mods are survivors of those things, and it might not be good/healthy for us to talk about much. But, as I stated, theres a lot of shit for the shit pile.

As for the last one, we would be here for ages if we posted about it, as well as what I just said above about us being survivors. The ship war shit is a lot so we haven’t really decided on that part yet. I myself do use a ship to cope, it has helped me throughout my struggles with my trauma.

Sorry if you’re dissappointed. As much as we would like to talk about certain things, it would be a bad idea. At least right now.

The “uwu murdoc is evil hes up to no good!!1!!!1!!!” plot is overused and stale

these writers better stop making noodle a basic “I’m not like other girls!!!1!!” character is2g

Russel is really underappreciated as a character, a lot of people have said it before, but I think we’re just going to have to keep saying it louder and louder for his character to actually improve

Also so much in the plot is conflicting? Did noodle mail herself to murdoc in a box after plastic beach or did she and russ take 2D to try and find his ugly green ass? Was El Manana actually staged? I just wanna know what the fuck is going on tbh

also did 2d actually get eaten by the whale and then proceed to eat the whale I don’t know where any of these loose ends tie together

Currently the Gorillaz fandom is pretty terrible. There's people getting threats, getting attacked, and there's a feeling that you can't post anything without getting harassed.

I'm decided to start the tiny movement #wegotthepower. Basically, you reblog art and comment how good it is, you send kind asks to people in a fandom, and just overall spread positivity rather than attacking people for posting things you don't like. If you send positivity to someone who actively targets people, make sure your ask is kindness and not approval of their actions.

Let's go back to the time where the fandom bonded with each other for their love of the band, and stop making the fandom into an active minefield.

As much as we all love shipping, most Gorillaz ships wouldn't work in real life. There's obviously something wrong with it and we shouldn't give people shit for fictional people that don't exist.

the thing I don’t get is how Jamie gives all his women characters the exact same face shape and yet Murdoc Niccals alone has had about twelve thousand different facial structures

like I guess the point I’m trying to make with this post is that Jamie absolutely can draw different faces. he draws Murdoc more than any other band member, and he draws him wildly inconsistently, from face shape to the length of his goddamn torso. there are fanartists who draw Murdoc more on-model than Jamie does

and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, because art styles and characters grow and change - though honestly tan-skinned round-faced Murdoc was god tier and Jamie was a coward to make him green - but it says a lot that Jamie, a professional artist, can draw one character so varied, but every single woman he’s drawn has the same heart-shaped face, unless they’re intentionally ugly and/or a transmisogynist stereotype
