Geometric plein air at PUCRS!
Where is Jessica Hyde? Digital Painting done in Procreate on the iPad Air a few years ago. She is my favorite character (played by Fiona O'Shaughnessy) from the awesome series Utopia.
Plein Air study. 1 hour at location on overcast light + an hour in studio to refine it; then another hour to change the mood for the night version. Awesome exercise for lighting and values!
Plein Air painting in a cafe at PUCRS campus. Plus adding a character and doing some studies changing the mood of the piece with the use of light, following Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi class “Painting with Light and Color” at Schoolism! Awesome course, I really recommend it!
Zootopia inspired gift for a very special Maned Wolf girl <3
Plein Air time! I'm having a blast doing some Plein Air studies with a group of awesome friends for the past few months. This is my last attempt to capture composition and design. Using just 3 values can simplify things and save time. Design is the key stage where you model composition and reading. Without it not even the best render can save a painting. I've used a bunch of self made Procreate brushes.
So this is my first attempt with the Ambient Occlusion technique.
After viewing the awesome Alex Negrea's Ambient Occlusion tutorial (you should check it out!) I went totally obssessed with it. Awesome technique, a bit methodic though.
This is a character for an indie game in development which I'm working along with some friends.
Where is Jessica Hyde? :)
I'm really into drawing on the iPad lately and I can't wait to have some spare time to do that.
So I began this study of Jessica Hyde, a GREAT character from the series Utopia - which I totally recommend by the way. All about her is intense and she's a deep cold fugitive/assassin and is in constant emotional pain (that almost never shows up). The idea was to capture the coldness and the pain as well as her intensity.
I struggled a lot with the structure of the actress face which is pretty peculiar to me. Just couldn't capture the intensity of her eyes the way I wanted. Maybe next time!
Bearded old Luke Skywalker!
Can't wait to see the episode VII!
Also I'm learning a little bit more about the Procreate app for the iPad Air. It's so addictive working digitally in such a practical tool. I am using the Wacom Stylus with the Hex Jaja tip hacked in.
Hansel and Gretel Illustrations :)
I've made these for my girlfriend's Monograph - who has done an awesome job, by the way!
I'm really enjoying to work with this child book style. Would be a blast to work with some children's books in the near future.
And I'm also really excited about the Procreate app for the iPad, where I've done the sketches for the final illustrations.
iPad photo study #1 That's my first photo study working on the iPad Air using the Procreat App and the Wacom Stylus. At the end I finished it with Levels and a few warps in Photoshop.
I'm just starting to adapt to the limitations and specificities of the iPad, the Procreate App and the sensibility on the Wacom Stylus. What a pretty fun tool for studying anywhere anytime! Its pretty refreshing. I hope to do a lot more of these this summer :) You can see the video progress of the painting here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc4XA_arrSk
Characters for an educational game (witch is a passion of mine) that, unfortunatly, didn't make it to production.
The game was about bringing geography, history and politics to a fantasy world where the player were a great spy for the Brazilian Secret Bureau of Investigation It would be an investigation game where the player would chase aliens disguised as normal people throughout the Brazilian territory in a modern and more dynamic "Carmen Sandiego" style.
It's a shame it didn't make it to production. Would be a blast to design a bunch of suspicious characters and crazy aliens for this game! :)
Color study from a photo taken by my great friend Mathis Townsend.
Illutration I've made for the awesome Brazilian Collab A BIT OF ART: A homage to 8 & 16 Bit Games. I got the great "Flashback: Quest for Identity"!
The argument of losing memory and the attempt to find his own identity while trying to protect the Earth from a galactic conspiracy seems to me quite appealing. So I tried to explore a visual narrative based on this: his search for identity, imminent danger, explosions of memory fragments and the impact of all this juice in the character world view.
It's good to be a pirate! Doodle I made on stream last night with the talented guys from Bate-papo Ilustrado on Google Hangout! You can check out the video here (it's in portuguese): Bate-papo Ilustrado #6
My only reaction in the whole film: “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!”
The Great Prank War game is released! :) These are a few artwork I've done for this great Cartoon Network game based on the "Regular Show" series. So much fun working with the incredible team of Aquiris Game Studio on the development of this awesome and original game. I worked on this project as a Concept Artist and 2D Artist developing the visual style of the game, from character design to cinematic's storyboard. You can check out practically all the artwork I've done for this project here in this Pinterest Board. And here you can see the game in the app store.
