@geccdoodles I've been wanting to draw Gretchen since you drew Bluebell once. I love her and Bellringer together:)

Gretchen tentatively takes a seat on the far end of Benjamin's couch beside the armrest, placing her hands on her lap. Her posture is anything but relaxed—her back and shoulders are stiff, and she is anxiously twiddling her fingers together. Despite Benjamin's kind and gentlemanly demeanor, it is clear that Gretchen is still quite intimidated by him given his height and appearance. Regardless, she is doing her best to remain polite.

After a brief silence, Gretchen finally speaks up. "Thank you for inviting me to your residence, Mr. Biggs." Her voice is meek and timid, like that of a mouse. "I really appreciate it."

She drums her fingers awkwardly against her lap, racking her brain for a subject to talk about. Eventually, she clears her throat before asking Benjamin a question.

"D-Do you, uh... have anything you enjoy doing? You know, like... hobbies and whatnot? If you do, I'd love to hear about them. I-If you're okay with sharing, of course."

"Ah, don't fuss on it, luv. It's just proper manners, is it not? 'Sides, I've been wantin' to sit an' chat with you anyway." Benjamin hums, not taking long to sit beside the anxious toon. Tea (or oil) could wait a second - besides, the kettle was still heating up! "Oh, I'm sure that mile-long list would bore you so much that you'd go green! I wouldn't want to 'ave to carry you all the way back to the playground, now." The tongue of his bell would clack against the brass as he tilted his head to smile, making a hollow-sounding 'clunk'. He talks with his hands a lot, gesturing or flicking his wrists, the gears and pistons inside of his metal body puffing with every movement. "Listen now, I'd be much more interested in hearing about the same things but from your side of the story... I'm sure you get up to plenty of fun, you clever little thing."

Alright, so. Update on my very first High Roller fight a few hours ago...

...

... We won!! 🎉🎉🎉

Three very kind Toons helped guide me through the fight! Those being Sir Butch Honeymuffin (@aqua-phoric), Maxie Flipperloop (@theorat), and Zuzu's Petals. Unfortunately, Zuzu greened towards the end of the fight, but we managed to push through as a trio.

I won't lie, it was pretty stressful! I tend to be pretty poor at strategizing and quick-thinking, so I felt bad for being slow when it came to choosing the right gags and whatnot. But my team was very patient with me and gave me tips along the way. Eventually, I learned the gist of it, and it became easier for me to understand!

And even though she came pretty close to it, Gretchen fortunately didn't green. So she gets to keep her sadless streak for a little longer!

Overall, with all things considered, it was a fun and challenging battle! If you're reading this, guys, thank you once again for joining me in my first High Roller fight. You were a huge help, and I couldn't have done it without you! 💚💕✨

I will say, though, I think just one High Roller fight is enough for me. I don't plan to put myself through all that chaos again, at least not until next year. 😅

I do really like the sticker I got out of it, though! 🎲💕

It's Bellburrow hours once again, everyone!! Here are some fake text convos I recently made, inspired by the ones that @flora-razzlepop made for their Razzlesaw ship a while back. 💚💕

I tried to choose ones that best fit the dynamic between Ben and Gretchen when they're dating. Yes, I'm aware they're very corny. 🤣

Speaking of which, I still haven't really shared much info about their dynamic. Which is surprising considering I think about these two literally all the time. So I figure now's a good time to talk a little bit about it!

Once Ben and Gretchen get to know each other and eventually start dating, they both become more comfortable with being silly and affectionate with one another. In particular, I love to think of Ben as the teasing type who constantly uses pet names and says things to make Gretchen flustered. But as shy as she is about it, she just can't get enough of the teasing. 🤭💕

That's not to say that Gretchen can't return the affection. Maybe she isn't as silver-tongued as Ben, but she's always willing to let him know how utterly beautiful and loved he is whenever she can. Sometimes Ben is taken aback on those rare occasions where Gretchen is brave enough to be a bit more forward with her feelings than usual. 💚

Context: I'm too scared to fight High Roller.

Confession time. Now, this admittedly might sound silly, but I'm deathly afraid of boss battles in Clash. (Yes, that includes manager fights.) Reason being, I've had Gretchen since 2018, and not once has she ever gone sad.

I now have an unhealthy obsession with maintaining that sadless streak. So much so that it makes my heart physically hurt when I'm in a boss fight. For example, I came very close to greening in a Gatekeeper fight last year, and my anxiety was through the roof—I felt like I was having a panic attack. I had heart palpitations the following day just thinking about it. It was that bad.

Nowadays, I actively avoid boss battles as much as I can. This, unfortunately, means that I can't progress much through the game, and that I also miss out on a lot of fun stuff.

Just last year, I was active during April Toons, but chickened out of the High Roller fight and decided to wait until the next year. Here it is now, and surprise surprise, I'm still too nervous to attempt it. I really don't want to miss out on this fight for the second year in a row, but I'm still hesitant, y'know?

To be clear, I'm fully aware that going sad is no big deal, and that it's just part of the game. But this dumb streak is just so important to me, and I'm worried that I'll feel devastated if I ever break it. I know, it's so silly to be this stressed out over a kid's game. But it's hard for me to get over it for some reason.

Guess I'll just need some more time to think it over before I finally decide to do the High Roller fight.

At long last, this piece is finished! I started it a few weeks ago, and I've been chipping away at it on and off for quite some time. The lineart was definitely the most frustrating part, but I quite enjoyed the rendering process at the end. This is my largest Bellburrow piece to date, and to be honest, I'm really happy with the end result!

Since Benjamin has a bell for a head, which is more than likely made of actual brass, I imagine that he needs to get it polished/buffed regularly in order to keep it nice and shiny. Of course, Gretchen is more than happy to take the time to do that for him—she loves to ensure that he's happy and well-cared for, after all! So Benjamin allows her to do so once they become more comfortable with one another during dating.

Gretchen sources her metal polish from brass instrument shops in Mezzo Melodyland, ensuring that it's high-quality and safe to use on Benjamin. And once she gets to work, she won't rest until every inch of that bell head is sparkling. Meanwhile, Ben gets to relax and enjoy the attention. 💚💕✨
