gotta say I am delighted by how supportive the sharks org has been of pwhl san jose and of laila specifically. mike grier did say in an interview that he'd been following laila's career and he was really excited to have her in the bay as a person of color and i can't help but feel that this is the power of having diverse leadership <3 I LOVE SAN JOSE HOCKEY!!!!!!!!

i figured the otters coach must be pretty well connected because women's hockey and particularly high-level women's hockey is probably a pretty small world but when she was like "oh yeah we have some really good coaches in this year to teach at this girls camp" i was not expecting to spend the day helping olympic champion walter cup winner former montreal victoire and future pwhl san jose player etc etc ETC etc natálie mlýnková set up and run drills and yell at kids hello

i also said i heard she was playing in san jose next year, congrats and i hope she loves it there bc i consider the bay area a second home (never beating the not actually from there allegations and what not) and she said playing hockey in california is basically the dream so i guess she's excited to be here!!!

i cant stop thinking about nick "selke winner" suzuki. years and years of people shitting on habs fans for saying he's a 1C, years of people saying he's overrated, years of people pretending he's just not good enough to be at the helm of this team.

that nick suzuki winning the selke and winning it by a fucking landslide. 1726 points for him and 151 1st place. the second highest guy was at 467 points with 10 first place votes.

that is fucking crazy.

only the 4th player in the history of the selke to win it with 100+ points, topped only sergei fucking fedorov and doug fucking gilmour.

and doing it all while being one of the few men of colour in this league and being the captain of the montreal canadiens. wow. wow wow wow.
