Actually due to zoning laws most people's mind palaces are too large and it makes recall slower.
Example of Tumblr's aging userbase: people complain about prices rising and how things were better in the past and are getting worse all the time (often in spite of contrary evidence!), have often developed a sharp technophobia based on misunderstandings of how technologies work and moral panics about dangers that are not supported by research, and hold strong opinions about the problem being due to moral failings that can be fixed by simply destroying the unvirtuous and showing personal virtue, and also are convinced that the past was both better and also harder, and that kids these days have it too easy (but they feel sorry for them because everything sucks now)
Named characters other than Eowyn who could've also killed the Witch-King (whom no living man can kill):
Arwen
Galadriel
Rosie Cotton
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins
Ioreth
The Dead Men of Dunharrow
Faramir
Shelob
Opening Instagram or similar algo hellscape to see the latest trending comic that reads like "as a spunky queer comics artist, AI makes me depressed. But I know that the soulless machine could never replicate the human uniqueness of my work!" and then feeling the irony of that statement settle over you as you scroll down and every few pages are served almost the exact same comic concept over and over again, except with minor style variations, and the spunky queer comics artist has a different set of pride pins and/or cutesily rendered pets in the backgrounds.
It wasn't long into my Tumblr usage before I learned how to recognize that kind of comic within 10-15 vertical pixels of seeing it on the bottom of my feed and instantly go warp-speed scrolling to get past it. I know Malcolm Gladwell is a hack and his books are garbage, but every time this happens I'm reminded that there is something to the thin-slicing Blink thing.

i know most leftists agree that everybody should have a right to food, water, shelter, and healthcare but i think a vitally important fifth pillar is privacy. people should not be compelled to be tracked, monitored, or to share personal space with others to access their other essential rights
"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" is and always has been fascist rhetoric everyone.
"the ONLY difference between me, a person who makes their living off of art, and you, a person who does not, is that I was willing to put myself out there and embarrass myself by making bad work until people liked it"
hahahahahahahaahahahahahaha
i'm sorry there are millions and millions of people baring their souls every day constantly forever who will never see a single red cent from their art. the difference between you and them is that you were lucky (in the right place at the right time doing the right type of art to gather a following) and are now smug about it. come on.
People really don't like understanding that the naturally consequence of 'making art is one of the single most common things humans do, given the chance' is 'without real, real powerful gatekeepers there's always going to be more art out there than people willing to pay for it'.
even significantly more art than people willing to look at it for free! the endless curse of web serial authorship [/any other artistic discipline that lives and dies free on the internet] lmao
Ryland grace and his clothing which almost always features a red line esp when he’s on earth
And he always has his red watch and red lined converse !
Fated for the petrova like since the beginning
Endlessly awkward to finish something and it's, like, fine? Solidly mid. But then you look at the popular reception and the top review starts
i need to come up with a way to say “i mean like, movies for grownups” that doesn’t make me feel like a villain
*peeks in the replies* *gets really nervous and locks my house up and leaves*
well, i mean more like La Piscine or Mulholland Drive,
i think i am going insane
Apparently it is impossible for Tumblr users to think of a not ageist way to describe their tastes, because everything must always be compared to how inferior children are -- despite the fact that it is pretty much never the choice of any child or children when media aimed at them is dumbed down etc.
Things when bad: kids and children are involved!
Things when good: this is very Adult this is specifically Adult only Adults can understand or want this
i literally just don’t want to watch Kung Fu Panda
okay we’ve come all the way back around. let’s pack this up. this post is done. “who asked” you just walked into my post that i made on my blog..? who asked YOU?? am i losing my fucking mind?????
"I want to watch movies where the writers assume the audience can handle complex themes and sensitive material."
"Do you mean porn? Or are you being ageist? You're ageist if you don't like Kung Fu Panda."
Another reason why trains would be good is that most people are not good at driving

sorry to be a broken record every month but christ menstruation is a stupid concept. oooooh excuse me for not getting pregnant, why the fuck is there goo falling out of me about it? grow the fuck up and reabsorb that shit for nutrients.
at first the anti-AI outrage was merely annoying but the more I see people retreating to positions like "parents should have more authority to surveil their kids" or "more electrical/internet infrastructure is bad, Not In My Back Yard!" the more I'm worried that kneejerk anti-AI sentiment will be a great new way to trick casual leftists into accidentally becoming conservatives.
why not have the reader re-read a sentence now and then? it won't hurt him....
[ID: tweet from @/MrNeilScott reads: "Why not have the reader re-read a sentence now and then? It won't hurt him." Nabokov to his New Yorker editor. Attached is an excerpt reading: I shall be very grateful to you if you help me to weed out bad grammar but I do not think I would like my longish sentences clipped too close, or those drawbridges lowered which I have taken such pains to lift. In other words, I would like to discriminate between awkward construction (which is bad) and a certain special — how shall I put it — sinuosity, which is my own and which only at first glance may seem awkward or obscure. Why not have the reader re-read a sentence now and then? It won't hurt him. /end ID]
