Magic: the Gathering - PAX Prime Just over 8 days away in Seattle, WA Aug 29-Sep 1, 2014.  Look for Wizards of the Coast at Booth 1642 on the floor.  The Annual PAX Magic: the Gathering Party will be likely taking place Saturday Night.  In the past, the party where multiple fall set spoilers are provided was typically at the ShowBox but so far, the venue is unconfirmed. The Big Event this weekend is the Magic:  The Gathering World Building Panel on Sunday 8/31 1:30PM - 2:30PM at the Hedgehog Theatre Come meet the team behind the creation of new worlds for Magic:  The Gathering as they give you an exclusive look at the up-coming fall Magic set, Khans of Tarkir.  You will find out all about the five warring clans on Tarkir, and how Dragons have influenced this world’s culture long after their extinction.  This will be your chance to get a glimpse of that world before anyone else, presented by the people who made it!

According to Deadline Hollywood, Bryan Cogman, a television screenwriter has been tapped to produce a script for the Magic: the Gathering film. He is known for writing five episodes of the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Card of the Day #6 - Modern - Sword of Feast and Famine

Arguably the most powerful sword of the sword cycle from Mirrordin, this thing is simply phenomenal. It gives +2/2, protection from both green and black, and if the creature equipped does combat damage to a player, they discard a card and you untap all your lands! It's relatively low mana cost is what really breaks a card like this. Put it in a deck where having lands to tap on an opponents turn is essential, and this sword will more then do work for you.

Card of the Day #6 - Standard - Brimaz, King of Oreskos

At 3 mana this makes more then his cost back. Having vigilance means he can both attack and block without needing to choose one over the other. He comes in with a more then decent power and an above average toughness at 3 mana. Having 4 toughness instantly makes him viable for combating most other creatures that would come out a turn before or even during the same turn as him.

Card of the Day #5 - EDH - Tempt with Discovery

If you want to cause a ruckus during a multiplayer EDH bash, play tempting cards. Play tempting cards when it looks like it will benefit everyone else because then you will benefit the most. You get to search and put one land in to play tapped. Then every other player can do the same. For each other player that does this, you get an extra land. In EDH it's not hard to come short and miss landfalls, this card can put you just that much more ahead of your mana starved opponents.

Card of the Day #5 - Legacy - Ponder

Too powerful for modern, this bad boy finds itself being pushed back to being playable in the confines of legacy. It's exceptionally high level of efficiency makes it a must in blue decks. For an entire 1 mana you get to look at your top 3 cards, rearrange them, and if it's not good enough you can shuffle before drawing a card. it's a wonder a card like this pops up as common when it does so much for so little.
