why is it that when i want to read fics it’s always super mushy romance but when i want to write them it’s always about friendship dynamics

i’m in my stranger things era right now and i read so much byler (like i spend a mildly concerning amount of time reading byler fics) but all i can think about writing is

- nancy being max and el’s pseudo older sister

-mileven as actual best friends, like platonic soulmates tell each other everything best friends
