the man has harassed this woman through the courts for 4 years, and caused her financial difficulties by causing her to spend up to 6 million in legal fees, as well as smearing her reputation so she can hardly ever work again.

that he is demanding money that he knows his ex-wife doesn’t have, is, in fact further financial abuse from a man who would get angry at her for working and who often made her swear to not take movies or meetings while they were together.

The case wasn't about whether or not he abused her. He did. It was about whether or not her talking about his actions cost him work.

He won a lawsuit because she talked about what he did to her. Because she didn't mention him by name, but she mentioned the things he did (that they both signed an affidavit declaring as accurate and not fabricated for personal gain), and he said it cost him work.

Everything else about this case was nothing but an exercise in humiliation on a global level.

is anyone going to talk about the amount of times johnny depp has lied on the stand? when he claimed amber gave him a black eye but there's photos of him with the same marks on his eyes from a date before the time he alleges that amber gave him a black eye. when that picture was shown in court he then claimed that the marks were due to the angle of the light despite saying they were from a black eye on the photo his team showed. he also claimed a text message that HIS TEAM produced is fake or that someone must have taken his phone and sent the text which is obviously ridiculous but even more so because the writing style is so clearly his. i also haven't forgotten that on the stand he said he has never been an alcoholic. insanity.

Pretty depressing that we live in a world where far more people are willing to believe that a 24 year old woman got married to a man 25 years her senior, all so, over the course of 7 years. she could meticulously gather fake evidence of abuse (including diary entries, corroborating texts and photos), convince a bunch of witnesses to lie under oath and goad her then husband into admitting to headbutting her on tape in an elaborate Gone Girl scenario to… *checks notes* write one line in an op ed, than it is for people to believe a rich powerful man with a documented history of substance abuse and violent outbursts hit his wife.

So we’ve all seen this phenomenon where female they/thems very often still perform femininity—wearing full faces of makeup, etc—and I was thinking about how they must think identifying as nonbinary makes wearing makeup a “subversive” act (in their minds, not in reality, obviously). Because if they were “still women”, then wearing makeup would be accepting the oppressive expectations set upon them, but they still want to wear makeup because they’ve been socially conditioned to realize it gains them approval and attention. So instead of ditching the makeup and facing the discomfort of being a woman in the world who does not perform for male approval, they do a little mental hop-skip and suddenly they’re not a woman, so they’re free to keep doing all the stereotypical feminine things except now they’re being “nonconforming”. Even though the material reality has not changed, their guilt at being a woman who just accepts her lot in life is assuaged.
