BE SURE TO LET US KNOW IN THE TAGS WHAT CHARACTER YOU ARE PLAYING!
Reblog if you’re a Star Wars roleplayer
I’m making a master list since I can’t seem to find any, and I think it would help a lot of people out. The list is here.
If you're willing to do horror threads, reblog this.
the-commandant-of-the-academy // Ah, I've been meaning to speak to you
I have attempted to make you proud, sir. If this is about what I think it is, please do not shame me in public… again.
“And how would I do that?” Brendol replied
“You have made it clear what you think of me, sir,” Armitage replied, refusing to look his father directly in the eyes as per his usual custom.
“Armitage, look me in the eye while you are speaking to me” Brendol stated giving his son a sharp glare “I want to know what you think, I think of you”
Armitage’s eyes immediately darted upwards to meet his father’s, despite the fact that it made him uncomfortable.
“I am the embodiment of your self-perceived failures,” he stated simply, a slight blush beginning to add colour to his pallid complexion.
“And what makes you think that?” Brendol questioned giving his son stern look “I do have reason to think you can do better than you already are, and I know you can achieve that, if you do not believe that, you are a failure in yourself”
"How have I not exceeded your expectations, sir?" Armitage asked after several moments of silence. He could not, for the life of him, understand how all of his successes at such a young age were not enough for his father. "I have surely exceeded everyone else's."

signs of a shutdown in autistic people
Becoming less verbal or nonverbal
Looking “spaced out” or detached from what’s happening
Withdrawing, not wanting to be around people
Curling up in the fetal position
Hiding out under furniture, blankets, etc.
And no, person observing above-mentioned signs, there’s nothing you can do to help. Except go away.
The “go away” bit is good for making a point, since it points out that not intervening is better than trying to intervene and making things worse. That said - some things drawn from my own experience:
As a few other posters have said, if the person shutting down is in a crowded, noisy, or otherwise threatening place, remove them to somewhere calmer and safer. Be gentle, since physical contact can make sensory overload worse.
Try not to ask too many difficult questions (and please do not ask them anything that could wait until later). Being in a shut down often makes executive dysfunction or language processing issues worse; even simple yes-or-no questions can be difficult to handle, either because it is frustrating to process the words, or to make a decision. Do not assume that they haven’t heard you if they don’t respond immediately.
I, personally, tend to be more prone to withdrawing or becoming irritable when I haven’t had food lately. If you know the person in question well enough to evaluate this, take this into consideration. The one question that’s always welcome to me is “do you want food?”. Not “have you eaten lately?” (requires memory + categorization), and not “what can I get you?” (requires decision making).
Most importantly: Do not trivialize or try to blame them for what is happening. This is severely damaging toward trust, and if an autistic person has a bad experience with you while they’re experiencing a meltdown or other episode, they may no longer feel safe around you. Your presence may make a subsequent episode worse if they have a bad history with you. If you suspect you’re not capable of responding apffpropriately (and if you are neurotypical and don’t know the person in question very well, you are in this category by default!), it is a wiser choice to leave.
By far the most important thing you can do to support an autistic friend who is having a shutdown is to have talked with this person before they experience a shutdown so that you have a plan in place and both of you understand what to expect in case of emergency. Do this when you both feel emotionally safe. Discuss your plans on a regular basis to reinforce your own preparedness and to reinforce a sense of predictability and security in your friend.
Basically, treat your friend like a human being rather than as a generic cluster of symptoms. Don’t interact with them in a way that is dictated by their diagnosis. Instead, ask them what they need from you, as an individual.
also some indicators that an autistic person is shutting down:
signs that their auditory processing isn’t working as well as it typically does, including frequently asking for things to be repeated for clarification (obviously the context matters with this one–if this is in a loud room or a room with several noises going on at once/if it’s a situation where most people would do this, then it’s likely not a sign of a shutdown, especially if no other signs are present)
not being able to give clear answers (ex. more frequent use of “i don’t know/care/understand”)
more difficulty processing what they’re seeing than is usual (can’t think of indicators of this)
having a harder time/not being able to read
basically anything indicating that their processing isn’t working as well as usual
obvious signs of increased anxiety/distress (rapid stimming, concerning expressions–looking expressionless, teary, angry, and/or frustrated, getting easily frustrated, unusual tone of voice/speech patterns)
most of these are signs i (sometimes) recognize in myself when i’m close to shutting down
and it’s important to remember that a couple of these doesn’t necessarily mean someone is shutting down, especially considering these should be changes and not just what’s typical for the person in question (ex. having constant problems processing audio)
some people also have individualized indicators, which you can find out by (as the previous commenter suggested) talking to/asking them
and if an autistic person tells you that they’re close to a shutdown or meltdown and they need something (to be somewhere with less stimulation, food/liquids, something to stim with, etc.) but they aren’t showing any signs of it, believe them anyway
some of us are very good at hiding these signs (sometimes without even realizing it) for the sake of passing as neurotypical (even if the situation doesn’t call for that), and taking our word for it/listing to us in order to help us through a shutdown or meltdown is the best thing you can do in these situations
Work hasn’t even been that crazy, I just changed the background a dozen times, moved the banners constantly and realized way too late that they were wrong anyway, they have vertical banners not horizontal ones…. Did I mention he is really really boring to color?
It’s also finally spring here in Canada and I’m drawing snow.
Have I told you that I like to draw Hux with messy hair?
Anti-villain motivations besides "tragic past"
They do bad things because they’re scared.
They’re gullible or misinformed. Example: somebody who has been told the heroes are out to hurt them.
They are desperate for interaction, validation, kindness, or attention, and the dark side gives them those things.
They want to change their allegiance, but are pressured by people close to them to stay evil.
They have an otherwise noble goal that they will do literally anything to achieve. Example: somebody who wants to protect their child, even if it means throwing other children into danger.
Hux Aesthetic
updated headcanons because i’m trash.
General Hux raised a pale eyebrow at Ren’s tone, not exactly pleased but also not willing to lose composure over such childish antics. Keep it professional, Hux. Taking a long drag of his cigarette, he watched the Force-sensitive man as he paced, taking note of how well he was doing in getting a rise out of the manchild.
“Do not attempt to lecture me about the unbridled merits of the Force over the robust power of science and technology, Ren. You will get nowhere,” he stated simply as he ashed his cigarette in a small ashtray. “Truly, you are nothing more than an overly glorified monk that is preoccupied with an irrelevant ancient religion. You have yet to prove your worth to me.”
He straightened up in his chair, sneering slightly at the man in front of him. Unadulterated hatred was coursing through his veins and it was taking an incredible amount of energy to not lunge at his adversary. Hux took the final drag of his cigarette before carefully putting it out. He looked up at Ren and pursed his lips.
“Do not forget who commands this ship, Ren.”
✘ It was amazing how quickly Hux always managed to wear down Ren’s patience to a paper thin membrane; teasing it to snap and cause another fit of rage from the knight. He already felt his limbs gravitate towards the cracked saber hilt hanging on his belt. If Hux had been a lesser officer, he would have been dead a long time ago for this tone. “I know who commands this ship, general. Do you know who commands this army?” He mused, moving closer to the seated man. “I’ll give you a hint: He’s in this room, and he’s not smoking. Who could it be?” He tilted his head underneath the mask. “I have proven myself time and time again. Over and over. It’s the soldiers that you chose to employ that fail you. That have yet to prove their worth. If we didn’t need them to keep this operation running, I would’ve slaughtered all of them after the defeat on Takodana.” He leaned into the man. His face was only inches away from the other, but no heat of breath radiated from the mask, only the coolness of the steel. “I don’t know what the Supreme Leader sees in you. I can’t tell if he thinks you are similar to your father, or if you’re just some second-rate version of Tarkin. You certainly have the foolishness of the latter.”
The blatant invasion of the general's significantly large personal bubble was the final act that served as cause for him to nearly jump out of his chair, hand secured on the blaster pistol that was hiding within his greatcoat. What was it about this man that made his skin crawl? Perhaps it was the lack of sleep, failure to eat anything of nutritional value, and constant work on a new superweapon to make up for the loss of Starkiller that was setting him on edge. The answer did not matter. At the moment, he was preoccupied with maintaining what little grip he had on his waning authority and sanity.
"You dare bring up Takodana and not mention your own personal failure to secure that droid? Your reckless actions on that planet cost me my life's work," Hux spat, unable to keep his pale complexion from growing red with anger. He wanted nothing more than to hurt Ren; to make the bastard suffer. He was smart enough, however, to not even attempt to use his weapon against the Force-sensitive warrior.
The smaller man stood tall, staring the mask down without wavering. He was not afraid of Kylo Ren. That said, he did take several steps back, not appreciating the disregard for his personal space. "You may sling insults about my father and comparisons between myself and Grand Moff Tarkin all you please, Ren, however I am glad to say that I would rather that than be related to a defector like Darth Vader. It seems you forget that he attempted to redeem himself in death. The walls have ears, Ren. Like a petulant child, you ignore all of the facts and simply focus on your own concept of reality. Pitiful, really."
AMAZING Commission done by the fantastic and supremely talented @schaloime of my OC Katar Neth ( @katarneth ) and Young Hux ( @nihilisthux )
This is more than what I could ever hope for and I’m completely in love!!
I finally have a beautiful face for my character thanks to @schaloime <3 completely and utterly in love.

Aspie!Hux Theory
Okay, so Aspie Hux theory/headcanon/whatever… Don’t shoot me.
I’m going off of a symptom list because I don’t want to just start describing myself for the sake of it. That said, this’ll probably turn into it.
He stims.
We’re well aware of his pacing and digging into the palms of his hands with his nails from the novelisation. I’ll argue that this is a form of stimming that evolved with age so that it is more subtle.
He’s good with reading people.
You’re probably thinking “Wait, what the fuck? Isn’t it supposed to be the opposite?” Yes, well, it is. That said, I’m also a people-reader and I have Asperger’s. The talent came from years of having to train myself to ‘pass’ as neurotypical. This was definitely not the case in my childhood and I could imagine that Hux is similar. It’s probably projection but it’s a headcanon for a reason.
Appears to lack empathy.
This has always been a pet peeve of mine and that’s why it’s worded with ‘appears’. People on the Spectrum do not lack empathy. They just might not express it or feel it as deeply. Everyone is different.
Formal style of speaking.
WebMD (the bane of my existence) actually gives a good example. “[the] child may use the word ‘beckon’ instead of ‘call’”. I think most of us have headcanoned Hux as eloquent since he is. This does not mean that he is always formal, it is just his preference/natural way of thinking and speaking.
Preoccupied with one or a few interests.
Deep preoccupation, my friends. He is incredibly preoccupied with his military theory and strategy, gets defensive when questioned about said theory, and I’m also of the impression that he’s a maths/science nerd and probably developed Starkiller himself. He’s probably also had one-sided conversations with any number of officers about the aforementioned topics.
Dislike any changes in routine.
Give him shit for his obsession with order and cleanliness all you want, however, this runs deeper than your typical commanding officer. This can actually manifest itself later on as a form of OCD.
I’m done for now. I hope this suffices and wasn’t too self-projection-y. Cheers.
