Why is Japanese Menswear Killing America’s?
If you know me well enough you already know I am drawn by Takahiro Kinoshita’s quasi-Ivy style with a little Thom Browne take. That being said will this article be biased? Absofuckinglutley. Does it make it any less true? Nah.
If a half rate “#menswear” blogger sees an outfit as such, he would go about saying how unfitting the outfit is. This pleb probably reads GQ…America. GQ has turned the men of America into fashion conscious fit whores with outfit combos that could be easily mistaken as a box of Crayola Crayons. The fear to leap into finding one’s style is what is killing the young men of America, creating more fast fashion victims; spending their allowances on that new black Zara shirt with studs because studs.
Why has Japan been all the rage you say? How can a country with no military be more superior than the Land of the Free? It’s because their attitude go with what they like and not fear what people say. That attribute is a stepping stone to creating such great style. You can say their outfits speak from the streets. Street cred, son. You ain’t got it.
So stop reading “Style Bibles” from GQ and pick up the newest Oceans at your Japanese supermarket.
