I wanna talk about more Look Outside headcanons, so here’s a Mr. Henderson special
The hand mutants that can talk in Mr. Henderson’s apartment all had personalities planted into them, based on people Henderson knew.
Scout was someone Henderson only knew over the radio, never got to meet him face to face. He was helpful, and his directions were always clear and concise. He’s one of the few people Henderson knew that survived the war.
Sapper was the small arms repairman where Henderson was stationed. Got the job done, but was always eager to go into rants about different models of guns and such. Killed by mortar attack.
Minesweeper was one of Henderson’s closer buddies. He was on the jovial side, and always kept a picture of his dog Betty on him. She was a basset hound who was pretty overweight. Killed by land mine.
Memorial was another good friend of Henderson. Much more pessimistic, and had several stories about his work at a convenience store. Killed by tank gun. By the time Henderson found him, he could only be identified by his dog tags.
Surgeon was the doctor who examined Henderson after he was shot in the spine, and told Henderson he was paralyzed from the waist down. Henderson knew there was nothing that could be done, but some small part of him always blamed that doctor for not being able to save him.
I mean this in the most positive way possible, but oh my god this is so fucked up. Imagine having your whole self overwritten into a copy of someone you don’t even know, and discovering that fact. The implication that the reason Surgeon is Like That is because of Henderson’s negative perception of the doctor is especially chilling.
This is such a horrifically awesome headcanon how did you do this
I did it by thinking “How can I make this more evil and sad >:)”
What’s worse is they’re surface level copies. Given only a few personality traits, with foggy memories of their old selves.
