The difference in media attention between a cis women athlete being bested by a trans woman and trans people getting murdered really shows who the real victims are. Sophie Cunningham and Riley Gaines are making careers off of their transphobia while trans athletes, even middle and high school students, are routinely harassed and doxxed.
No one is getting killed over 'protecting women's sports,' but plenty of trans people are being killed because of these kinds of culture wars and general transphobia. Cis women can profit from transphobia but trans people will be discriminated in all corners of the workforce and harassed for living a public life.
