Writing aliens who have their own distinct set of gendered (and sometimes ungendered) pronouns and/or a separate conception of what pronouns are entirely is super fun but at the same time I have to check myself every sentence I write to make sure I'm being consistent.

For example one of my aliens is effectively just a enormous motile clot of fungi in one big sapience-bestowing mycorizzhal colony and since just smacking they/them on hers felt like a copout (and also wouldn't make sense to the alien herselves) I'm writing hers in feminine true plural and oh my god. Diplomats Yyhyphaeci you are breaking my brain
