The morning after
I’m realizing that it’s the day AFTER a cheat day that honestly matters more than the actual cheat day.
How many times have you just completely fallen off the wagon because you woke up after a cheat day and thought, “well fuck it!”
Today is one of those days for me. Yesterday I was SO exhausted from working four consecutive 14-hr days, I had nightmares the night before, and it was the first day of shark week. So I decided to be kind to myself and eat some fries, and later some ramen. I don’t feel badly about it at all. But, today when I woke up feeling a LOT better, I almost repeated the same behavior… just because! I looked in the mirror and saw my progress from this past week and decided to get back on the wagon.
If I had decided to let my cheat spill over into today, it would’ve led me down a slippery slope back to no-progress land. And my self-esteem would’ve taken a hard blow.
Keep pressing! Stay consistent! You’re worth it.
