Old art I kinda hate now. I have terrible color theory and I really struggled with how to finish this image. Some things I still like. Maybe I’ll revisit someday. The following text was written when it was originally uploaded in 2017 ( originally drawn in 2012 ):
“Hearts Entwined ( Bleed my Rust )”
‘Sweet is the curse of hearts entwined but lost, detached but bound
Sad is their fate without relief
Cruel is the curse of love, so luscious yet so dangerous
Sweet curse, our hell...'
~Revamp
'When we are dancing
I hear worlds, you're still fading
I feel safe, yet unsatisfied
Soaked in trance and disgrace
Take away the pain inflected on me
The hunger you're letting me feed
I bleed my rust on the roses
That once have chained us, me to you
Your dying love is a rose
I will bury somewhere close to you'
~Sonata Arctica
I can't look at this piece anymore. I originally drew it in 2012 over 5 years ago, and every year since I have been tweaking it and playing with it since because I thought it had potential but I could never quite get it right. So I think it's time to finally move on and just upload the point it has been completed to now.
This originally started out as an idea about insecurities, and I wanted to display characters that were outwardly tough and confident at their most vulnerable- 'unmasked' if you will. But it also addresses love and loss, personal conflict, and holding on to pasts and moving forward and letting go. Just about every person who has seen this already has come up with their own very unique, interesting interpretation of this piece and I thoroughly enjoy that and welcome it.
What does this piece mean to you? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Otherwise, ENJOY DANGLE DONGLES.
There, had to get my immature side out.
