Whenever you have the time, could you do one where the reader finds Larry left behind his sketchbook at their house or class or something. They fully mean to return it but upon opening the book to admire Larry's drawings, they soon come across several sketches of themself, maybe even a few scribbled out rough drafts of love letters and penned confessions. Love the blog!
It was a typical Friday afternoon at Knockfell High. The bright blue sky was scattered with a few grayish clouds in anticipation of the late afternoon showers, the townsfolk were scattering around town between work or stores preparing for the coming weekend, and me and my two best friends were in after school detention. This was pretty common considering the three of us had your last period class together and more often than not caused mischief. Today it had been brought on by flicking erasers at each other from across the class. Luckily Mrs. Packerton had just given you all an hour of detention since she apparently had things to do. Despite being curious about what someone like her could be doing on a Friday evening I was definitely grateful for it.
I looked up from the book I was halfheartedly reading to see what your friends were doing. Sal was focusing on writing down some sheet music for his guitar. He had a school music text book open to a particularly difficult song he wanted to try. No doubt he would try to play it for Ash. Surely it was one he’d have mastered by Monday even if he didn’t agree.
Larry however was intently drawing in his sketch book. This particular sketchbook happened to be his favorite and was also a gift from me. It was a six hundred page book with two hard covers that I had covered in stickers of his favorite things. From the moment he unwrapped it on his birthday he had loved it. Strangely enough it was the only sketch book he refused to let any one look in.
No matter how many times anyone asked or tried he’d always grab the book and refuse, mumbling something about it being unfinished. I always knew he could get a bit self conscious of his work but that never stopped him from showing me his other pieces. In fact he always got my opinion on every single piece, unless it was in that sketch book. A few times I had caught him writing something in it but he wouldn’t explain anything and would change the subject. Although I tried to respect his privacy it did get a bit frustrating at times.
His dark brown eyes squinted at a particular spot as he moved his pencil over and gently erased whatever mistake had been made before. His hand moved so gracefully over the page he seemed to be putting a lot of effort into his subject. He briefly looked up from the page meeting my gaze. I felt my face get warm and my cheeks darken as he smirked at me. I smiled back trying to hide my blush to the best of my ability.
Despite the many times I had blushed around him he never pointed it out or asked me about it thankfully. As far as I knew he was completely oblivious to my crush on him. The bell rang causing me to jump slightly as I had zoned out in thought about my crush. “Alright you delinquents are dismissed.” Mrs. Packerton grumbled. I shoved my stuff into my bag getting up and going over to Larry’s desk.
“So what time are we meeting at your place tonight?” I asked shrugging my bag onto my arm. The guys got up and the three of us made our way out into the hall. “Since Sal and I promised to help fix that shower probably like 5ish?” Larry suggested looking at us for confirmation. Sal and I both nodded as I remembered I had forgotten my hoodie on the desk. “Shit I forgot something. I’ll catch you losers later!” I exclaimed turning on my heels.
“You better be ready for an intense alien zombie moviethon tonight!” Larry called after me making me smile. “Ready as I’ll ever be Johnson! Just make sure you’ve got plenty of snacks!” I called hearing them both laugh behind me. I made my way back into the classroom seeing my hoodie right away. I snatched it up getting ready to leave when I noticed something familiar on the floor under a desk, Larry’s sketch book. He must have dropped it and didn’t realize.
I should probably grab it just in case someone like Travis finds it. I picked it up tucking it under my hoodie. Running out of the hall I tried to catch up with the boys only to see them long gone. “Need a ride?” Neil called from his Jeep where Todd was sitting in the passenger seat with Ashley in the back. “Hey guys! Sure thanks!” I beamed hopping into the back.
While I was getting my seatbelt on I had my stuff sitting between me and Ash where I guess Todd noticed the familiar book. “How’d you get your hands on that?” He asked shocked. “Oh his notebook? He left it in Packerton’s I figured I could give it back to him tonight.” I shrugged picking it up and flipping it over in my hands. “Are you gonna look?” Neil asked eyeing me from the rear view mirror. I looked down at the book debating on flipping through it.
“I don’t know. Probably not I mean he really doesn’t want anyone to look.” I sighed. “But aren’t you dying to know what’s inside it? I mean he shows us all his drawings, you and Sal at the very least get to see them. So what is in this particular book he doesn’t want us seeing?” Ash asked. “She has a point.” Todd shrugged. I eyed the cover of the book feeling my temptation rise. “He’s protective of it for a reason guys he wouldn’t be happy to know if you snooped.” Neil pointed out.
I shoved the book in my bag, hoping it would be out of my mind in there. Unfortunately that didn’t work too well. By my the time Neil dropped me off I was extremely curious. I ran up to my room flopping down on the bed the book in my hands. As much as I loved Larry my curiosity was getting the better of me.
I flipped the book open to the first page to see a familiar photograph paper clipped to the front page. It was one we had taken at his birthday party. I couldn’t help the smile from thinking back to the memory. The small gathering was just winding down and Larry and I were relaxing on the stairs.
I sat down on the stairs hoping to take a small breather to myself. Not that I don’t love everyone here but I was kind of tired. “Hey dude mind if I join you?” Larry asked offering out a small cup of coffee. I smiled nodding making room for him across from me. He sat down handing me the cup and I rested my legs against his due to the cramped space.
“You don’t have to thank me it’s your birthday. Besides the party was mostly your mom.”
“Yeah but she said it was your idea. And the sketch book is like the coolest thing I’ve ever gotten.”
“I’m glad you like it dork.”
“How dare you call me a dork on my birthday. You’re only supposed to give the birthday boy love and compliments.”
“Ha well your moms over there I’m sure she’ll give you love and compliments.”
“Yeah she does that any day of the year.”
“I’ll give you all the love you need Lar bear.”
Lisa smiled raising her camera to snap a picture of us. “You two are always so sweet together.” She beamed making us both blush before she walked away. “I should probably head out for the night.” I sighed leaning closer to Larry. “Night birthday boy.” I smiled gently kissing his cheek. “Night (Y/n).” He smile with a small blush.”

Underneath the picture was a beautiful sketch of the same scene. The lines were so careful and detailed that it looked perfect. However I couldn’t help but notice more detail and focus had been put into me than he rest of the picture. He had put in so much effort into making me beautiful.
The next few photos and sketches were ones of my selfies from Snapchat and instagram. One in particular stuck out it wasn’t a photo I recognized but I could recall Larry taking it. He was teasing me about my selfies and how I always took pictures of him. I had assumed the picture was bad and had been deleted but it was actually a decent picture. Besides it being just slightly out of focus it was an adorable candid of me.
There were many more photos just like that. Photos of me, or the two of us all beautifully drawn. There was the one of me doing his makeup that day that Sal, Larry, and I were bored, the one of us sleeping that his mom had taken during one our many sleep overs, us in face masks, and one of us dancing outside the night of our senior prom. Followed by the sketches there were notes and letters. Some had lines scratched out and others had an x through but everyone was a beautiful note or letter.
Considering the term is falling in love I always assumed that’s how it worked. That one day I’d meet someone and fall head first in love with them and that would be it. But that’s not what happened at all. I met you and I walked into it. With my eyes wide open, I chose to take each and every step towards loving you. I may not believe in a whole lot involving fate but I do believe that we’re fated into decisions we would have chosen anyways. So between fate and my own conscious I’ve decided to love you with every ounce of my being.
You’re currently asleep right next to me and I can’t stop thinking about how beautiful you are. No makeup, paint stained leggings, and my SF tee. Which considering how great you look in it I can’t even be annoyed that you borrowed. Hell you look better in it than I ever will. I know we both have fun but I doubt you’ll ever know how much these nights with you mean to me. You just make everything so easy. I don’t have to try hard or be anyone I’m not. I hope one day I get the guts to tell you how I really feel. Fuck, you just did the cutest thing in your sleep. I know you didn’t do it on purpose but you rolled closer to me snuggling into my chest. My heart must be beating a million miles a minute. Hopefully it doesn’t disturb you.
I’ve been trying to do this for a long time now and I just can’t seem to get up the courage. No words seem good enough. I mean how can I confess that I’ve fallen in love to the most perfect human being I’ve ever met? Fuck, this is hard. I’ll probably chicken out this time too. I want to tell you so bad but I’m so scared of losing you if you don’t feel the same. That thought alone terrifies me. You mean so much to me if I lost you I don’t know what I’d do.
I blinked my eyes a few times absolutely stunned. Larry was in love with me? This whole time I had no clue. Checking the clock I noticed 4:30 I ran out the door clutching the sketch book in my hands. I didn’t stop running till I reached his door. That was probably the most I’ve ever ran in years but I had to tell Larry how I felt.
My heart was racing from both the run and the anticipation. Taking a couple deep breaths I quickly knocked on the door. Knowing Larry he’d probably be getting ready for the movie marathon having not cleaned or anything. The door opened up and he looked at me confused. “Well either you gotta job a Perry’s Pizzeria and didn’t tell me or you’re kinda early.” He said with his signature smirk.
I smiled back shaking my head as I followed him into the apartment. “So did you think you’d have to help me the place would be such a mess?” He chuckled leaning against a kitchen counter. “No actually I wanted to give you this back” I sighed showing him the book. His eyes got wide and kind of angry when he saw the item in my hand. He looked back up at my face frowning.
“You took my sketch book?” He asked in a tone I’ve never heard before. “You left it in Packerton’s so I figured I should return it.” I shrugged confused by his serious tone. “Did you look in it?” He asked with furrowed eyebrows.
I looked down nodding suddenly struggling to find words. “Y-yeah but Larry look I-“ I started trying to explain before he cut me off snatching the book from my hands. “I told you I didn’t want you looking in it and you did it anyways? Are you kidding me (y/n)? I thought we were best friends I’m supposed to be able to trust you.” He spoke angrily.
“Larry I’m sorry I looked but listen I’m trying to tell you-“
“No you listen! You knew how much I didn’t want anyone looking in this book but you did it anyways. Look whatever you saw in here wasn’t what you think it was-“
This time it was my turn to cut him off. “Shut up and let me kiss you, you got head.” I said rolling my eyes before pressing my lips to his own cupping his face in my hands. I heard the sketch book hit the ground and he began kissing me back after a few seconds. His arms wrapped around my waist and he smiled through the kiss making me do the same. When we pulled apart he was smiling ear to ear.
“I like you too Lar.” I blushed smiling even more. He pulled me up into a bone crushing hug. “Holy shit! I can’t believe it dude! Er um babe?” He laughed setting me back down. “Babe is fine goofball.” I smiled. He kissed me again barely being able to stop smiling.
“Um should I come back?” Sally’s quiet voice asked from the door. We laughed pulling apart. “Turns out you were right little dude they do like me back.” He smiled his arm wrapped around my shoulders. “Yeah no shit Larry Face.” He chuckled having known both sides of our crushes.
