What app do you use to draw often? Also what kind of brushes do you use? They're so good!

I fear I’m going to disappoint because it’s nothing fancy lol. I just use procreate on my iPad and use the 6B sketch pencil for almost everything lineart. Then primarily use the medium-hard airbrush and grunge brush for rendering.

It’s just me and my 3 generic stock brushes against the world

How well does Benjamin gets along with other kids? (older and same age)

Ben gets along pretty well with other kids regardless of age! 😊 He’s pretty amicable. He did struggle to get along with his peers when he started ‘middle school’ though and was then transferred to a private Jewish school, but thrived pretty well socially once there.

Why did Millie wait so long to contact Benjamin and Mordecai?

Sorry it took me so long to answer this! I forgot to check my inbox 😬

Brutally honest answer? Probably a combination of shame, fear, and embarrassment. She also thought there was a chance Mordecai didn’t keep him so she felt a bit helpless in how to initiate the process and afraid and ashamed of what she’d find of his fate.

Originally I had thought she’d come back when Ben was 16. But that was very early on when I still didn’t have a proper grasp on who Mills was as an individual. Now I think she came back when he’s about 6 years old going onto 7 soon and was back and forth between L.A. and St. Louis quite a bit.

Had the honor and privilege and delight to get to travel to momocon this weekend to see Tracy and the crew 💖 it was an absolute blast and probably made a bit of a fool of myself in front of Tracy from how nervous and shaky I was lol but it was so great and Tracy and the crew were so incredibly kind!!

OH GEEZ 😂 okay!! Rapid fire answers!! Let’s do this:

1. Mordecai did.

(When Mordecai’s mother was pregnant with Hannah years ago she was hoping for another boy and had chose the name Benjamin. But obviously it was a girl so it went unused. He remembered the name from there and thought why not. Ben’s full name is Benjamin Hanniel Heller. Ben later added Ames to make it Heller-Ames.)

(The couple of months Millicent had baby Ben she called him Teddy in passing, but mostly just Baby. Mordecai filed a delayed birth certificate later when it became essential since it was not officially registered at the time he was born.)

2. She was 28 years old

3. Mills has two half-brothers on her father’s side but never formally met them. She was the product of an affair - a very sensitive topic for her.

4. She has quite a few because of her overall depressive tendencies but her biggest one would be not being there the first few years for Benjamin

(specifically not taking him to California with her at the beginning because she still wanted to fulfill her dream but she wanted him with her instead of Mordecai. She wishes Ben had grown roots in California with her instead of in St. Louis with Mordecai so she didn’t have to go back to that city she hated so much.)

5. She would probably have more of a ragdoll look with white and tan fur and blue eyes.

6. Her paternal grandfather had albinism as well. She got the gene passed down from her father, but neither her father nor two half brothers manifested it. Her dad had white fur but was not an albino and the two boys look more like their mother.

TW ILLNESS - TW DEATH - TW MEDICAL

Millicent passed away circa 1947 due to lung cancer. It was a rising affliction in the 1940’s for those ex- 1920 showgirls who spent years being exposed to intense and constant second-hand smoke at work.

Her genetic predisposition from her albinism might have played a small role as well unfortunately; a lot of the symptoms I headcanon she dealt with throughout her life correlate well with certain types of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome. Though they wouldn’t have really known that at the time.

hi! when does the benjamin comics/present day benjamin art take place? im guessing ‘33, but im not entirely sure =^. .^= for reasons of course. that dont involve art

Helloo!! ^o^ I skip around in the timeline a lot depending on the random daydream I’ve clung to that week. I realize this gets confusing for people actually trying to keep track of the timeline so I sincerely apologize about that :C

The fanfiction is based in December 1933 - Ben would be turning 4 later that same month (I accidentally said he was already 4 in the fanfic and haven’t been able to log in to change it😬)

The comic is based in September 1937 - Ben would be 7 turning 8 in a few months.

I would say a lot of what’s “present day” for Benjamin is maybe circa ~1934 and about where I usually draw him.
