Re: Saftey & Amazon Wish Lists for SWers
Friendly reminder that Amazon wishlists should be used with caution. I logged out of my sex work account just to see what it looks like if someone wants to buy me a gift, and saw my legal name under the address options. Thankfully, only one person has bought me something from my Amazon list and that was at my old address in a different state.
I’m still keeping my Amazon wish list for electronic gift cards only and when I get a PO Box, I’ll open it back up for tangible gifts. But yeah, just be careful.
(Note: My wish list was under my stage name, but my address had my legal name, because I thought from Amazon’s policy about not sharing your address with gift buyers they wouldn’t see any of that, but they do see your name and city, just not your address.) @sexworkerhelpfuls
And even if you have your name hidden and address, customers can call Amazon and ask about the wishlist order they just placed for you, and Amazon can and will tell them your name and address. Amazon is supposed to be for friends and family only, which is why having a family member call to verify it’s going to the right address isn’t scary, but using it for sex work is. This is why I only accept giftcards and buy the items myself.
Reblogging again for the addition. Boooooost
