With the Deltarune Chapters 3, 4, and 5 status update revealed today, I just wanted to inform those reading this blog that would prefer not to see them until the full game is out that I will be using these tags on any posts I make or reblog involving them in case you’d like to filter them:

This is CRAZY. I can only assume it's about Chapter 7 Side B, but the fact he's giving us a secret progress tracker on that is bizarre... Wouldn't it just have the same tracker as Chapter 7? Unless... Chapter 7b is something so different from regular Chapter 7 that it has it's own development timeline??? I DONT KNOW AAAAAHHHHHHH

okay i'm gonna try to better word my thoughts on why the amalgam kris+noelle knight theory doesnt work for me, bc i think my initial post was not super clear

the game being a weird time loop is fine. the problem is that this theory would require something optional to be done for the game's logic to work. "you finish a route and go back to the start" is one thing, "the consequences of this route you never actually did cause the entire game to happen" is different.

you can argue to the prophecy, to things that Have to happen, but the fact is the player Has to opt in to weird route. there is no way to accidentally do it. the game cannot actually force you to play it short of being like "HEY IF YOU WANNA SEE THE END OF CH7 GO DO THIS SHIT" or something similarly heavy handed. and frankly "you need to put these teens thru hell to solve this grandfather paradox" will only entice so many people into doing it out of obligation.

(and, honestly, making it so you HAVE to grudgingly be doing it to make the plot work would make a lot of the 'youve broken off the path of the prophecy into something So Much Worse' stuff along the way feel so boring. like if eram is going OH YOU JUST WANT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS and im like "no i need to do this to patch a plot hole" it feels much less interesting)

so either the game is like "whether youve done weird route yet or not i know you will someday and the game is banking on that" and for a lot of people its just Wrong or its like "well Someone Somewhere did this route so it's canon across all games forever" which just feels weird to me? the existence of a possibility doesnt mean it happened.

...and, end of the day, i find weird route being a broken, fucked up, skipping-over-things route that you aren't meant to be on and that will only make everything Worse much more interesting than it being mandatory/required/baked into the fabric of reality lol
