can feel it slipping again
the thing is depression was never destigmatized the narrative just switched from “no one has depression you’re just using it as an excuse” to “everyone has depression you’re just using it as an excuse”

Calcagno family burial monument at Staglieno Cemetery in Genoa, Italy. A bronze masterpiece statue lying on the steps, deposing a last flower on the grave; the personification of sorrow. Work of Adolfo Apolloni in 1904.

Felt this to my core
so many people ive known have pushed themselves to burnout trying to deny their disabled reality, skipping accommodations, skipping rests etc. and the world convinces them that the solution to their burnout is to push even harder. it’s a huge tragedy. i know social pressures make it tough but i want more disabled people to make things easier for themselves where possible, to opt out of things that harm them when possible, to quit while they’re ahead. be that person today! protect yourself where you can! take micro breaks while doing your hobby. get that shower chair. sit to brush your teeth. lie down in the middle of the day, even if only for 5 mins. these things add up and it’s so worth it.
happy disability pride month! ACCOMMODATE YOURSELF TODAY!
This disability pride month it is my hope that all people with disabilities get the same level of support and accommodation that our society provides to assholes.

Night Walk
by Franz Wright
The all-night convenience store’s empty and no one is behind the counter. You open and shut the glass door a few times causing a bell to go off, but no one appears. You only came to buy a pack of cigarettes, maybe a copy of yesterday’s newspaper — finally you take one and leave thirty-five cents in its place. It is freezing, but it is a good thing to step outside again: you can feel less alone in the night, with lights on here and there between the dark buildings and trees. Your own among them, somewhere. There must be thousands of people in this city who are dying to welcome you into their small bolted rooms, to sit you down and tell you what has happened to their lives. And the night smells like snow. Walking home for a moment you almost believe you could start again. And an intense love rushes to your heart, and hope. It’s unendurable, unendurable.
