Gideon: Ianthe, can I talk to you for a second?
Ianthe: Yeah, what's? Let me guess. You and Harry are having problems and you want me to teach you how to kiss?
Gideon: What?! No! Stop that! I know how to kiss. I've read books.

@gideon-cavalier-primary
Gideon: Ianthe, can I talk to you for a second?
Ianthe: Yeah, what's? Let me guess. You and Harry are having problems and you want me to teach you how to kiss?
Gideon: What?! No! Stop that! I know how to kiss. I've read books.
Gideon: I'm not afraid of anything! Only acne and leprechauns.
Palamedes: Leprechauns aren't real-
Gideon: I know what I saw!
gideon nav loves like a dog who grew up with nothing but a chain around her neck and a bowl of dirty water and that knows that the hand that feeds her is the very same hand that beats her but she still can't help but wag her tail a little when she sees her owner approach
Thinking about TLT and specifically, how many times Gideon has died in the books.
As a baby, when she arrived at the Ninth. I've seen meta about Wake sacrificing her oxygen for Gideon, and while that could be interesting, I don't believe it. Gideon died as a newborn infant without any oxygen, with Wake.
Obviously as a kid with the poison gas or whatever it was that Harrow's parents did to conceive Harrow.
Avulsion trial! It's text that she shouldn't have survived that, that she died.
And also obviously when she throws herself on the spikes.
I'd have to go back and reread GtN to see if there are any others I'm not remembering off the top of my head.
But I do think she definitely did die; John was capable of dying, too-- Dominicus flickered in HtN when Mercymorn killed him. He just came back, is all. Gideon is the same. She can die, but she can also come back (unless someone eats her soul-- and even then! She still came back!)
Tbh? I don't like Paul. I don't want Paul. I understand that Paul serves an important narrative function and that Paul is the best possible ending for Camilla and Palamedes given their situation, personalities, and relationship. However what I really want is for Camilla and Palamedes to attend the ATN wedding as two individual humans and for Pal to be a lightweight who loses his tie in the garden fountain after three drinks and for Camilla to do exactly one shot with the group, keep Gideon from ripping the sleeves off her dress shirt, and absolutely kill it at lawn games during cocktail hour. Since this scenario is a wild tonal mismatch for the series and also Palamedes was already dead, this was unlikely to ever happen. However Paul is the final nail in the coffin for the theoretical existence of this scene and I can't help but resent them for that
ok actually i'm putting this back in my queue with my original tags:
#I don't think we as readers are supposed to welcome Paul. at least not without grieving Pal and Cam #Paul's existence is both a horror and a triumph #however my concerns are much more petty and involve Camilla winning at cornhole #I can't yet properly characterize Paul. would Paul lose their tie in the fountain??? would Paul win at cornhole?? #or does everything that made Pal and Cam individually delightful cancel out into a person who is mostly competent and boring. #they balanced each other out you see!!! so what happens now that they're combined into one person!!!! #the locked tomb #nonasbirthday #nona the ninth spoilers #the locked tomb spoilers
the thing about team 69 is that griddlehark is about exactly as insane as you'd expect given their circumstances, which only serves to make cam and pal even funnier. they don't have any fucking excuse, they had an entire society around them, why are they that bad? why is their closest parallel for unhinged devotion and codependency the two repressed teenage lesbians who were the only children on their entire fucking planet? like team 69 works because each pair looked at the other and very incorrectly went "finally, some normal fucking people" but cam and pal did that to themselves on purpose where gideon and harrow were basically forced into that absolute disaster of a situationship. it's great
Pyrrha, you're a genius
Here with a good good take from @celestialhijabi
"Pyrrha crossed over to the truck, to Nona, and leant heavily into the interior; Nona could see that she was sweating, in exactly the same way she had sweated after the bottle of bleach. She mumbled 'You knew this was happening. You knew this was happening months ago,' and when Nona put her hand on Pyrrha's, it was like Pyrrha hadn't even noticed her."
G: …..I’ve never heard that expression before. H: Maybe it’s a generational thing? My aunts say it all the time.

Presenting: The Unwanted Guest, a staged scale model adaptation of the NtN short story by Tamsyn Muir.
or: TUG set fire to my brain and what started as a simple project to help myself visualize the scenes and coffin movements has spiraled into a full 1:24 scale theatrical model. Enjoy!

The sixth and the ninth
Currently reading Harrow the ninth and I’m hooked! Be careful with spoilers in the tags please🧎
Coronabeth: How do I deal with my enemies?
Judith: Kill them
Coronabeth: That's a bit extreme, I was hoping for a more passive solution
Judith: Kill them only a little?
Gideon: Hey, it's your turn to wash dishes.
Harrow: I'LL WASH THE WALLS RED WITH YOUR BLOOD.
Gideon: 'Kay, but before that, wash the dishes, also use soap this time?
Dulcinea: It's dark in here
Gideon: Don't worry I got this
Gideon: *stomps her feet*
Gideon: *Sketchers light up*
