Abel chuckled softly. âThank god for that. If it was youâd have to get up and weâre far too comfortable.â He rubbed slow soothing circles on Gideonâs back as the movie played, focusing more on the lovely sensation of having his dear dormouse in his arms than on the action.
He continued to rub Gideonâs back even after he fell asleep, and in the spirit of not disturbing his rest, Abel switched from the second movie to a nature documentary. One of the good ones narrated by David Attenborough and his calming voice.
Hey Mama
His face scrunches up a bit. Nice. Why was he being called nice. Heâd just rather deal with the issue before they ended up coming to him for help. Which tended to happen, since he was the police chief of the city. He sighs with a small shake of his head and moves past it. He wasnât expecting an offer of a hand shake. He looks down to it before remembering himself and mimicking the motion, taking the otherâs hand with a small shake. âStan. And uh. Donât worry. I donât blame you for that.â He says with a small chuckle. âWell. Come on then, letâs see what we can do.â The man says before heading off.Â
Gideon followed after carefully. He had mace and plenty of salt just in case, but he hadnât thought to grab his pistol. He had figured walking to the park and back would be much simpler than whatever heâd gotten himself into. âSo, where exactly are we going again?â he asked, memorizing the route just in case things went South. It was easy enough to get out of a situation if you were smart, but much more difficult with a baby strapped to you.

Were they missing a bar tender? She looks back into the doorway before looking back to him. âFine.â She says, though it was only because it did seem like people were wondering where the drinks were in this place. Sheâd watch him. It was getting time to do her inside shift anyway. To break up any disturbances and all the like. But if he seemed to be learning too much, well sheâd do the whole intimidation routine afterwards. The woman before him was of quite the strong build, with broad shoulders, a long torso, and defined muscles. Sheâd be quite the formidable opponent in hand to hand combat that was for sure.
He was playing down his size, slumping like some 20-something year old who survived from paycheck to paycheck. He honestly wasnât sure if heâd be able to take her in a straight fisticuffs brawl, but he wasnât worried about that. Just a little slip from the vial hidden in his pocket then heâd slip out the back and no one would ever know. He wasnât usually one for poison, but sniping had been proving frutile. His hit was too private, too wary of every little thing.
He headed in and greeted the other bartender with a nod, then started in on drink orders. Just an average Joe working the usual grind.

"How much longer m'I gonna hafta be your servant?" he frowned.
âI canât remember. Youâre the one who made the deal. Shouldnât you know?â he asked and eyed the whiny kitten.

She looks over the ID, and then looks him over with a single functional eye. Her face stays rather, well you couldnât exactly say stoic, but she just seemed unphased by most everything. Disinterested and detached. But she did have her suspicions. She pretty much always did, Luna was hardly a trusting person. Thatâs probably why she was so good at her job. Not much caught her off guard because she was almost always ready for an attack. âThe club is for VIPs only tonight.â Her employer had bought out the club, and made it extremely exclusive. A way of doing business. Without looking..too out there. After all, this was a rather ritzy part of the city.Â
âYeah and do you expect those VIPs to be serving themselves? Iâm gonna get fired if you donât let me in,â he said, dropping his shoulders and pulling one of the most pathetic looks imaginable. She wasnât the guard who had been there before. He was big and dumb, she was big and smart. He gave her a quick once over, more like someone checking her out than checking to see how strong she looked and if she had any weapons on her. âLook, chick, Iâm just workin. I gotta get in, please.â
