The thing that really gets me about the Locked Tomb series is that from a worldbuilding perspective it’s YA catnip. Like any other author would have started it out from someone low ranking in the cohort, maybe falling in love with a rebel or vice versa, introducing parts of the world slowly. There are even houses to sort yourselves into! It’s perfect! That would have been a good story in and of itself! However Tasmyn Muir started in the deepest depths of the equivalent of death cult Amish territory from the POV of someone trying to escape and join the terrible death army, and it works. It’s like if you started explaining the concept of Star Wars with a clone from one of the tanks in Palpatine’s lair. Obsessed with her as an author.

my dream last night was a weird ass scavenger hunt rhat this whol school i was at was participating in. i dont remember the details now but there were 3 different versions of the hints and it would eventually give you everything you need to steal something out of the room of a sleeping dr. robotnik (he would violently attack you in his sleep if you tried to just go in there and steal from him-- obviously everyone tried this first)

These are things with people's full names written on them often in books, but they're considered "abandoned" because in '48 a bunch of people looted our homes, especially our personal libraries.

the unabomber was pedantic about idiomatic phrases like "have your cake and eat it too" and rephrased it to "eat your cake and have it too" (which to be very fair makes sense). fast forward to when he starts writing manifestos. he uses the phrase word for word in his pedantic style and his brother (who has been keeping his eyes on the unabomber shit for obvious reasons) notices the phrase and is like "oh fuck that's my fucking brother no one else fucking says that" and calls in an FBI tip
