• 1984 - John Lasseter (director and the chief creative officer at Pixar) left his animation job at Disney to join filmmaker George Lucas’ special-effects computer group.
• 1986 – The computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd is purchased by Steve Jobs for $10 million and established as an independent company christened ‘Pixar”. Interesting fact – at this time only 44 people were employed at PIXAR.
• 1987-1990 – Pixar produced their first “Pixar SHORTS” –such as Tin Toy and Knick Knack.
• 1991-1994 – Pixar started developing and producing commercials for companies like Listerine.
• 1995 – Pixar released Toy Story which was revolutionary in animation industry and made around $360 million worldwide.
• 1996 – 2006 – Pixar continued to release feature films like finding Nemo, Up and Monsters Inc. and becoming known worldwide.
• 2006 – Disney bought Pixar.
• 2006 - … Pixar is still on top of the game and continues to develop and produce short and feature films.
