Japan Day Fifteen - Tokyo - finale of my trip! Before heading for some sushi and packing I spent late afternoon of my final day in Japan at Hama Rikyu, or the Hama Detached Palace Gardens as they're often known, an oasis of green and calm right by Ginza, tucked between the skyscrapers of Shiodome district and Tokyo Bay. A perfect way to end the trip - I loved how everywhere you turned you were surrounded by skyscrapers but the serene, calm gardens made them seem so far away......
Japan Day Fifteen - Tokyo - the buzzing district of Ginza....
Japan Day Fifteen - Tokyo - walking through Hibiya Park to the Imperial Palace Gardens and the Nijubashi Bridge (or seimon ishibashi bridge to give it its proper name). The bridge, which leads to the main palace "kyuden", is only opened for special state occasions, on January 2nd for the public to visit and on December 23rd, the Emperor of Japan's official birthday.
Japan Day Fifteen - Tokyo - started my final day of the trip by dropping by Kabuki-za, one of the main theatres in a Japan for kabuki - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabuki - a performance can last four hours but they sell on-the-day single act tickets, so for just ¥1,000 and 25 minutes I got to see the first act, "the tug of war over the armour". Really interesting, so artistic and very different - I loved it!
Japan Day Fourteen - Tokyo - dusk to sunset to night in my room with a view.....
