SPOILERS FOR KAGURABACHI CHAPTER 123!!!!
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
First Hiyuki appearance in 77 Chapters!
The worst thing you can do, as someone who has recently realised they are transfem, is to let terves and transphobes convince you cis women will never accept you.
I was told that when I came out everyone would reject me. That I would find myself isolated from the world, and from other women especially, who would react to me with horror and revulsion.
In reality, within the first months of coming out, in no particular order:
My sister's reaction on my coming out was, "Right, so I have a sister instead of a brother. Cool. I'm taking you clothes shopping tomorrow."
A friend, when she learned I am a woman, immediately invited me to her women-only, girls-night-out birthday party the following week.
Another friend, when a friend of hers expressed doubts about my gender, immediately shut them down and reaffirmed I am a woman.
I went camping with a group of friends, and we had two tents, one for the boys and one for the girls; I was unsure as to which I should enter, to which a girl friend responded by grabbing me and physically dragging me inside the women's tent.
In the women's bathroom at a movie theatre a random woman, whom I'd never seen before and haven't seen since, stopped me as I was going into a stall, to warn me there was no toilet paper in there, because she'd just used the last of it.
All of these, and more, some from friends, some from complete strangers. All within a few months, as a trans woman who hadn't started medical transition yet, and was very visible as being a trans woman.
I've had some people reject me, true, but the vast majority, including almost all cis women, accepted me as a sister with open arms.
Cis women are cool. It's terves who are bigots.
I needed to see this today
@this-is-trans-joy
This is trans joy!!!
so this knight came to my wizard's tower one day and asked me to cast a spell that would allow him to take his beloved princess' hand in marriage. pretty typical this kind of wish, and i had just the spell. a combo of "turn person into a royal" and "transform appearance to match romantic ideal", easy. he paid handsomely for it too, so how can i says no?
turns out his princess is a lesbian and nobody knew, so when i cast the spell it made him into a beautiful princess. she asked for a refund right away and begged me (cryin', held me at swordpoint) to turn her back, but i says to her, i says, "The die has already been cast, and your fate is now sealed!" which is my way of sayin' "no refunds".
turns out, bein' a princess weren't so bad for her and she was able to take her sweet and beloved princess' hand in marriage. seems like everything worked out.
but then, surprise of my life, they both show up to my tower and my spell was undone. some dark sorcerer shithead (some kinda sketchy royal adviser who wanted to usurp the throne, a million like 'im) had removed my enchantments and turned our princess back into a knight. but she didn't want to be a man no more and asked me to redo the spell. gladly i changed her back in exchange for fuckin' up this sorcerer shmuck, (could be a threat to my business, you see) gave 'er an enchanted sword an everything. to my shock, the other princess takes the sword and vows to get this guy for me.
now i got all this guy's magic shit and good graces for life with the queens of the land, plus the best advertisement money can't buy. "yes, i am in fact That wizard from the story of the princess knight!" classic.
anyway, all that to say, no i ain't changin' yous back. you'll be mommy's pretty little maid and you'll like it.
This picture is taken like it something you'll see in the history books or for documentary purposes!
"Togo Shiba
Returned to headquarters with the corpses of the six conference attendees."
There is something so..... so deeply horrific about that...
How did he go about it? Did he cover them with cloth? Did he whisper a few prayers (since he had rosary beads on his wrist)? Did he quietly collect the pieces of his comrades' corpses before he returned? Did he refuse to look at their faces? Did he cry? Or was he so numb to everything that he was just this body removal machine?
How many more times did he have to bring bodies back for families to identify? How many of the bodies' identities became impossible to identify? How many times did he had to go to the morgue with either a full body or pieces of it throughout the course of this war?

chap 118 + 59
same old feeling
Like brother, like sister.
I want a sitcom about a friend group or family wherein one of the main characters is a trans woman. I want her to be the most bubbly, kind, energetic character and the show to demonstrate over the episodes that this woman is the fucking glue that holds these people together. They love each other but there’s miscommunications and difficulties expressing themselves and well-meaning ideas that turn toxic. But you have this character who has had to build herself from nothing and is paying that joy she’s cultivated outward.
And then I want a flashback episode that takes place ten years before. And that trans woman is the saddest, numbest man with no light in her eyes. I want her future self to haunt that narrative like a fucking specter. Watching fights that she would have stopped and people she would have helped. It should be clear that when someone finds themselves and cultivates self-love it spills out to the people around them, too. And the relationships aren’t the same without that.
IM SORRY!!??
My biggest hope for Kagurabachi part 2 is that Hokazono finally utilizes his female characters. Like the concerning pattern of introduce a female character, have her do like two or three cool things, and then completely sideline her is probably my biggest critique of Kagurabachi. We literally haven’t seen Char, Hinao, and Hiyuki in nearly 80 chapters.
I’m not saying it’s the worst at using its female characters (I’ve read Fairy Tail and Solo Leveling) but it’s still very underwhelming. I mean it took us until Hiyuki until we got a female character who can fight and then the next stand out female character who can fight is Sumi in chapter 50, and we don’t really get to know her. We only have 2 female Hishaku members, Toto who isn’t a fighter, and Uran who is the Hishaku member who we have seen the least of, less than even the two unnamed Hishaku members.
The later chapters were good with Kiri and Iori but I really do think it was too little too late, even if Iori is a fantasticly written character. Though part 2 seems to have a lot of potential with Chiaki and the unnamed female swordbearer so I have hope, but it still disappoints me.
peak female character design btw. chicks rock
Am I the only one confused as to why there's discourse on the latest chapter (117)? Why the hell is everyone worried that Hokazono just portrayed the entire Shokoku population as inherently evil, did everyone just forget the entirety of Part 1??
"The story of the Soga Clan and the Mikaboshi portrays the Shokoku as inherently evil"
Uh... yeah? This is the same country that teaches kids in schools that the Shokoku islanders were "bloodthirsty savages in nature", did you think they only started the propaganda machine after the war??
"The Shokoku people attacking the Japanese pre-emptively is making Akemura's genocide look justified"
... What? These events are completely in line with Yura's retelling of the war - the Royal Family were the ones who led the invasion, it's not a stretch to believe they were aggressive about it considering they did successfully invade the east coast of Japan until the damn Shinuchi came into play (if I read the below panel correctly).
But the actions of the Royal Family during the Irishima talks don't say anything about the civilians living in Shokoku, that was the entire point of Yura's retelling of the war. None of that has changed. The Royals could be the most evil incarnate villains in all of fiction but that changes nothing about the innocence of the civilians.
There's no way that everyone read through the entirety of Part 1 and are now worried that Hokazono is going to make Akemura's genocide look justified... you know, the genocide that ate at Kunishige until he died and passed on his sins to his son, the one that made him create a blade specifically to destroy the thing that caused it, the one that wrecked at least two of the Enchanted Blade bearers with guilt to the point that one was gonna go through a s**cide plan to atone for his sins??
Tell me what the hell am I missing for people to now be comparing Kagurabachi to KKK and Israel propaganda??
[Side note: I'm also seeing some people thinking the two prophecies Chiaki made are the same, but they're two separate prophecies - the one in the previous chapter (116) was for the group that left the letter on the beach, those people came in peace. The 2nd prophecy at the beginning of the latest chapter (117) was for the Irishima talks with the Royal Family, that's the meeting Chiaki said was extremely hostile.]
kuguri should get a bonus chapter where he’s trying to do the sojo style bonding with subaru’s sword and they just Don’t Get Along
theyve litterally never interacted but do you guys see the vision
