"That Quidditch Cup'll have our name on it this year," said Wood happily as they trudged back up to the castle. "I wouldn't be surprised if you turn out better than Charlie Weasley, and he could have played for England if he hadn't gone off chasing dragons." — Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone
Given the Weasley's financial situation, Charlie Weasley playing professional quidditch must have been that once-in-a-lifetime golden opportunity. An ultimatum against the chronically suffering Weasley finances. Quidditch is like the soccer of the wizarding world—the cultural impact and stardom it brings are phenomenal! Not to forget the hefty income!
If anyone cared, the fact that Charlie dared to choose dragons over professional quidditch must come off as sheer stupidity and even disrespectful.
Many students at Hogwarts must have been really baffled and maybe disappointed. Somewhere along, I bet it may have become a shared dream of the students, some professors, and the Weasleys to see Charlie Weasley play professional quidditch.
His choosing dragon handling over quidditch would have been the gossip of the year! Some won't care, some will think him a moron, some will be a little heartbroken, and a few will probably worship him! Throughout the remaining Hogwarts year, topics like money matters, passion, success, etc. would be casually thrown around. By the end of the year, people might become more accepting and maybe understand.
It goes without saying that Charlie Weasley would be struck in a battle of his own. A million thoughts per minute would race through his mind. A war of dreams and hopes. He knows his way but has never felt so lost. He will inform an omniscient professor McGonagall of his choice, words that will politely decline the two scouts airing through his head.
In the summer after his tiring yet satisfying, first internship in Wales, he will meet a frustrated mother mourning about the perils of dragon-keeping, who then hogs his dragon,-keeping guides for the better part of her free time. His father will tell him muggle fairytales and folktales about dragons. Bill, his forever partner in crime, would secretly sneak him to Gringotts to see the half-blind, majestic Ukrainian Ironbelly. Percy will educate him about the mysterious connection between dinosaurs and dragons that makes those beasts entirely more endearing to him. The twins will worship him for being too cool for quidditch and persuade him to rather become a dragon dealer. Ron will ask him all kinds of questions about dragons and quidditch while brutally defeating him at chess. He will braid Ginny's hair while listening to her monologue rant about dragons vs. quidditch. Before going to bed, she will make him promise to get her a baby dragon. After a few minutes of pleading, he will give in– but only for a day in Romania.
As rare as it comes, we find people who actually dare to dream and, rarer still, who achieve their dreams.
Golden Dress
inspired by @startanewdream fanfic - here -, which after reading me made me think about writing about Hinny in the future, and Ginny wearing a gold dress again.
for those who want to see what the dress looks like: here but golden ofc
in fact, this fanfic is for those who think that just because Ginny is a badass, she cannot like the "feminine" world, don't be so radical, people are complex and one thing does not cancel out the other
'Stupid dress,' Ginny mumbled, snorting irritably and giving up zipping the back of her dress, looking in the mirror at her husband who was lying on the bed, arms behind his head and feet crossed. 'Babe?' She said, sly, winking at him in the reflection, a lovely smile on her dark red lips.
'If it weren't for me, you would go to every party with your butt off,' Harry said, getting up from the bed and walking over to her, dressed in her beautiful gold satin dress, long and light, making her look magnificent. The thin straps looked too delicate and he thought that maybe the fabric could tear in one simple step, and that neckline that the fabric created in the front with the accumulation of fabric, would fall and show her beautiful breasts.
The zipper went down to the top of her white panties, her bare back seemed to call Harry again, and if he closed his eyes he could still feel the softness of the skin against his lips as he went down and down, memorizing, or trying, every freckle which disappeared tantalizingly down to her round ass.
'You look beautiful wearing gold,' Harry whispered against her skin, smelling Ginny's sweet and unique scent, the same that had always been in his Amortentia. He let his hands roam over her skin, inside her dress, calmly reaching for Ginny's hips and squeezing. His eyes never leaving hers in the mirror, she looked even more radiant, her cheeks flushed and made up, shining through that shiny powder she wore, her brown eyes made up and looking even more mesmerizing.
'And you are tempting in that suit, I promise you that we will enjoy it much later, but now,’ She pushed her ass against his groin, pushing him away. 'Close my dress or we'll be late, and George may not appear to be nervous, but I think he might be able to die if we're a minute late.' Ginny smiled. 'You are much more daring than when I asked you to close my dress years ago.'
'I learned from the best.' He shrugged, surrendering and closing the dress, noticing the lack of a bra, and needing to close his eyes for a few more seconds just to not rip off that dress and have sex with Ginny until the dawn day. 'Did you choose the gold dress just because of that? To remember the first wedding when you made me hard as an idiot, asking me to close your dress?’
'No, George and Angelina chose the color. My brothers are strangely obsessed with gold.' Ginny sat down again in the cushioned chair in front of her dressing table, opening the jewelry drawer and seeming to be looking for something. 'Do you think these earrings match?' She held up a delicate pearl that she had bought on their trip to Spain, turning her face gently and assessing the earring. Harry nodded, leaning against the side, feeling a little obsessed with her.
'You look beautiful with anything,' Harry sighed, as if he was tired of explaining the obvious to her. 'I remembered that night almost every night afterwards.'
'What night?' Ginny looked at him quickly, a clip pinned between her lips, adjusting the lock of hair that had gone out of place for her perfect hairstyle.
'Bill's wedding. I remembered you wearing that dress, the cleavage, everything, for many nights,' he admitted shamelessly, picking up her hair comb before she even asked. It was not the first time that Harry had watched Ginny get dressed, he didn't even care when they were late, almost every event that required a more elegant outfit, Harry was not excited to go. But standing there, seeing how she was concentrating while choosing the color of the shadows, or how she made her cheeks look adorably pink and shiny, made him want to go.
He had never said it out loud, and Harry was afraid he would look a little sexist, or Caveman, but he loved being the guy who was next to her when she was like this. Harry loved being the guy who was always next to her, when Ginny was wearing his clothes as pajamas, when she wore Harpies uniform, dressed in pants and sweaters, or expensive and elegant dresses.
Harry thought it was the most beautiful thing when Ginny sat on the chair at her dressing table to get ready. He thought it was almost as if she made a child’s dream come true, to have things that only belonged to her, to be able to choose what type of earring, necklace or ring she would wear that day, whether or not it matched the diamond on their wedding ring, if the lipstick didn't look out of place with the clothes. He had noticed how little by little Ginny had seemed to break the walls that seemed to prevent her from being that happy and excited girl because she had bought a dress or some beauty product.
He still remembered when they moved into their house, and Ginny's eyes sparkled with tears when she saw the dressing table there, as she had asked, with lights, a big mirror, a comfortable chair, drawers for everything she wanted buy or already had, and a good space to be able to decorate as she wish on the top.
Harry blamed the fact that Ginny was forced to mature quickly and create armor strong enough to survive after Tom, who prevented her from letting that more feminine side emerge.
After they got married and went to live on the same street as there was a cosmetics store, however, Harry noticed how Ginny looked into the store, her eyes big and shining. It was like a childish need, and Harry remembered how happy and complete he felt when he went to the market and bought everything he wanted to eat.
He understood how Ginny felt. It was as if it were going to fill the material void that was once created.
Harry never made jokes or even laughed at them when he saw them in the newspaper, saying that ‘’now that she was married, Ginny had decided to drop her tomboy pose and become a stylish housewife to satisfy Harry.’’ He thought it was disgusting.
‘You’re not going to stop being you, if you wear makeup, or wear expensive clothes, you know that, don’t you?’ He said, after seeing that she looked sad, sitting on the couch and looking at a fashion magazine. 'You look beautiful wearing green.' Harry smiled, looking at the green wool suit.
'But maybe the earrings you gave me will be better.' Ginny woke him from his reverie, her hair neat and the pearl earrings put in place again. 'What do you think?' She looked at him and then the mirror, they were delicate and small rings of braided gold. ‘Too golden?’
'I thought it was perfect.' Harry smiled like a fool in love.
'Excellent. Wake up James, okay? I'll be ready in a minute.’
'If we had been looking for peace, he would have woken up a long time ago.' He grunted, listening to Ginny laughing.
'Wait until night, he'll smell that his parents want to spend some time alone, and he'll crawl into our bed.' Ginny laughed, watching her husband laugh too, giving up and going to wake up their son who seemed to have the same timer as Ron, to know when a couple was kissing.
'And yet I can't love him any less.' Harry sighed, kissing the top of Ginny's head before walking away to leave the room.
'I feel like today is going to be different,' Ginny promised, holding Harry's hand and making him look at her. ‘And maybe we can do everything you wanted to do when you saw me in the gold dress for the first time?’
'I didn't know as much as I do today,' Harry pointed out, smiling at her. 'But it would be great. And at this wedding, I don’t even need to be in a Weasley’s body, which also helps a lot.’
She nodded. 'Thanks to Merlin, there are already many Weasley in the world.'
Harry laughed, leaving the room and walking over to James, who was still sleeping the same way he was when Harry put him to bed, hugging the bear Percy had given him, covered by his favorite blanket, looking like he didn't even care that there was a wedding about to happen, and wearing that mini suit that was the most adorable thing.
Smiling and watching his son sleep, Harry was happy, now he and Ginny knew how good it was when things were so simple.
there are a lot of undiagnosed adults out there but i do think it's a shame that we've reached a point where having hobbies and interests past the age of 20 is seen as a touch of the tism. i know many older adults who suppress all their childish desires and throw out all their old toys and for what. are you scared of being 'weird' ? who give a shit.
Hi! I’ve been seeing a ton of Ginny hate lately, and since your fic Quidditch Is for Losers is super Ginny centric, I’m curious, why do you think so many people dislike her?
It blows my mind that fandom bends over backwards to redeem Draco, Pansy, and even Lucius, but Ginny, who literally fought on the good side, stood up to bullies, gets dragged constantly.
I know a lot of the hate definitely comes from Drarry and Harmione shippers still pissed that Harry didn’t end up with their fave, but honestly? The double standard is wild. People call her a “fangirl” in CoS, then get mad she’s not fawning over him later and making more of an effort. So which is it? They hate her for liking him and then hate her for moving on. It’s hilarious and kind of pathetic at the same time. She’s obviously embarrassed and feels guilty over the whole situation, and she’s could also be going through her period. It’s such an awkward time for girls, and I hate it when females bash other female characters for things they probably went through as a girl too, but give redemption arcs to male characters. The sexism drives me insane!
In order to stay sane, I've accepted this reality: people will like who they like, dislike who they don't and they don't have to justify or be consistent about it. I agree with you - emphatically - the double standard is wild. The hypocrisy is baffling. But I try to curl up in my cozy curated corner of Hinny fandom and ignore all the noise coming from unempathetic gingerphobes with subpar comprehension skills.
Kidding about that last part. (Really. Please don't send me hate anons.)
Because Young Harry glosses over Ginny, it’s tempting for readers to do the same. In good faith (dismissing -ism or -ogyny reasons), I suspect some people don't like Ginny because they don't know her. Or don’t want to. Yes, that could be because their flag is flying on another ship (or because the movies removed Ginny’s personality) but to be fair: embracing Ginny early on is a bit of a hurdle.
By design, Ginny is harder to know than other characters.
There’s a valid, delightfully hinny-licious reason for this and I can unacademically chit chat on that below the cut, if you’re still interested.

What are your thoughts on silver trio?( ginny , Neville and luna)
I have so many things to say about this.
This is going to be a little Ginny-centric because she is the only really well-rounded character out of these three.
Ginny and Neville's friendship
The first time Ginny and Neville are properly associated as characters is with the Yule Ball situation (also known as that time Harry lost the golden opportunity of avoiding the Cho fiasco).
We know that Neville feels comfortable enough to ask Ginny to the Yule Ball but she is not his first choice, he previously asked Hermione. Now here there's a bit of speculation to do because we have no idea if Neville asked Hermione because he had a crush on her and then decided to go with a friend or maybe he was just closer in friendship terms to Hermione. But Ginny seems a bit embarrassed to be going with Neville, I'm mainly basing myself on the fact that she didn't defend him from Harry and Ron when they were making fun of him. I think many people forget that, like Harry, Ginny had her emotional growth in how she saw "the losers". Ginny and Neville seem to have bonded enough thanks to the Yule Ball and in OotP Ginny outright defends Neville, quite ironically from himself. This said, there's never a particular indication of them being close friends, in general, Neville's closeness with Harry too seems often exaggerated by the fandom.
Things supposedly change during DH, Ginny is the main leader of the rebellion at Hogwarts (I don't know why people forget this) and Neville seems to become the Hermione to her Harry. Traumatic experiences bring people together, and I bet leading an illegal group of teenagers against Death Eaters is an excellent bonding exercise. Neville also is canonically Albus's godfather and canon information at hand, including the Epilogue where it's Ginny that reminds James to say hi to Neville, I'd say that the choice of that godparent came more from Ginny than Harry.
Ginny and Luna's friendship
Some people seem to be convinced that Ginny and Luna were childhood friends, but this is not true. I think it comes from the fact that the Lovegoods live relatively near the Burrow.
At the start of OotP, it's Ginny who accidentally calls Luna "Loony Lovegood". This is not done with ill intentions, and Ginny soon corrects herself. But it shows how Ginny didn't really know Luna, and she instinctively called her the way she heard other people call the Ravenclaw girl. Then the two girls seem to become closer during this book. Yet, the relationship that is shown between them during OotP and HBP, looks more along the lines of the popular girl who defends the lonely one from bullies and takes time to talk to her and the isolated girl who because of this becomes overly attached to her. Ginny, just like Harry, seems to view Luna as this cute and funny three-legged puppy that needs to be protected. A weird little sister if you will.
As with Neville, things seem to change during DH and for the same reasons. So Luna becomes the Ron to Ginny's Harry. It's clear that Ginny trusts Luna and cares about her but this time it seems more of a genuine friendship than such an unbalanced relationship like before (Ginny's only true equal is Harry but I think I made it clear what I mean).
Ginny and Harry's third child is called after Luna, and again I think it's a safe bet to say that Ginny had more to do with that decision than Harry. I think it's a nice way to honor this kind of "girl-power" friendship and how Luna symbolized for both Ginny and Harry a growth in terms of how they perceived emarginated people.
Neville and Luna
We don't actually know anything about their relationship? But I think it's a given that they became close during DH. They also seem to have compatible interests (but it's not enough to ship them romantically, sorry folks).
The silver trio
In conclusion, these three became a proper trio during the worst of times, and isn't that how all the best friendships are born? They seem way more chill and self-aware than the golden trio and I think that because of this reason they would have a more solid friendship than the golden trio in like a muggle scenery with no wars and crazy things going around. They seem those kinds of people who would become friends at university and meet in a coffee shop at least once a week to do a summary of what's going on with their lives and they would be there for each other's important moments. I like it.
It took them more time to become friends because Luna is in a different house and Neville is in a different year, plus Ginny is very popular.
The main difference with the golden trio is that Ginny is not only the one with the leadership ability but also the glue in terms of friendship. In the golden trio, Harry is the leader but Ron is the one who keeps them together in terms of friendship and has the social skills. It's also true though, as I said before, that we don't know much about Neville and Luna's dynamic.
I have to say that this friendship is one of the reasons why Ginny reminds me so much of James Potter. James is shown as this "collector of outcasts" to whom he gives support and friendship and love. This seems what Ginny ends up doing.
Would you share your very specific thoughts about Ginny’s wedding dress?
But of course I would, thank you for asking.
My reasoning started with thinking about what would look best on a type of body like Ginny's.
Ginny is described as a very conventionally good-looking girl for the 90s and small, and moves cat-like. In other words, Ginny is petite and elegant, she is a dainty little thing.
So basically anything looks good on her, but you need to remeber that she is very short. So if you put her in a large gown, she is going to look like a pastry, a beautiful pastry, but still a pastry.
So large gowns got excluded.
You need something that gives verticality, but you can't really go with a super-tight skirt, partially because it's statistically not that elegant, and also because Ginny would never want to wear something that blocks her movements: she likes to dance. And that's how we get to a gown of modest width.
So to maintain the verticality, we need a high neck, not suffocating but a little high.
But if you have a skirt with some width, even if you have a high neck you are still going to have too much stuff going on in the bottom side of the picture so you can't have bare shoulders, you need sleeves.
So a dress with a skirt of modest width, a high neck, and sleeves.
It's very elegant, it works with Ginny's hight but it does lack some of her fire. And that's why the plot twist should be a bare back.
Now, the fabric.
I don't think a plain fabric makes any sense for her, it's too city girl.
She grew up in the countryside, she plays an open-air sport, she loves animals, she is the type of person who gets on the ground to play with the cat. And I believe there is only one fabric that can combine all of this with elegance: lace.
So basically something like this:
(with less trail)
And because I'm not too much of a fan of that specific lace, here are some other examples:
We get a rather low cut golden gown for bill's wedding which she definately pulled off, but I always visualised Ginny to wear something highneck and backless like this as a bridesmaid for one of her brothers' wedding.
A combination of these two would have been perfect as a bridesmaid but I can see how the style would make more sense for her actual wedding dress. I don't know much about the British idea of oppulence or elegance, but something like this would be absolutely stunning on her!
Harry likes to spoil Ginny a bit much with presents. Tapping into his “I want a gold cauldron the second I have money” energy. Ginny is grateful but gets uncomfortable since she can afford to reciprocate and they have to work through it.
Well, this grew considerably longer than I planned for it to be, so it’s going straight to AO3 - Merry Christmas, anon! 🥰
Ginny’s jaw dropped upon opening her bedroom door and finding herself faced with what could only be described as a mountain of carefully wrapped presents hovering expectantly in front of her.
“Are you joking?” She stepped back, allowing Harry and the teetering pile of gifts he was directing with his wand admittance into her room.
He’d only left it ten minutes ago, when the first rays of winter sun peaking through Ginny’s pink curtains had signalled that he and Hermione needed to swap back to their assigned beds if their clandestine sleeping arrangements were to remain a secret from Ginny’s mother.
“I’ll be back with your presents,” he’d promised, pressing a kiss to her lips and slipping out of the door before she could remind him that they’d agreed to just one gift each.
It was a rule Ginny had insisted upon, owing to her severe lack of funds until she finished school in a few months and could finally make her own money.
Harry had agreed easily enough, too easily now that Ginny thought about it. Evidently she should have been more suspicious of his acquiescence, but she’d been too relieved that she didn’t need to try and conjure up money she didn’t have — or try and pass a kiss off as an acceptable gift again, when she was quite happy to be giving those away freely now — to question his lack of protest at the time.
She was most definitely going to question it now however.
Her arms crossed over her chest, the soft cotton sleeves of her candy-striped pyjamas brushing against one another as she lifted an accusatory eyebrow in Harry’s direction.
But he was steadfastly avoiding Ginny’s eye, keeping his gaze locked firmly on the pile of presents he was now arranging at the foot of her bed.
“I hope those are for your other girlfriend,” she said, tapping her slippered foot on the floor

It's baffling how so many people fail to distinguish Hinny/Jily fan art and their overall concept as a couple.
James has hazel eyes, an unmarred forehead, and more of a marauder vibe. His body language is open, and in most fan art he is always the boy who will make anyone smile! Lily has her iconic green eyes and dark red hair. Her portrayal in fan art usually has her with a preppy, elegant look. They are the couple who share the tiniest umbrella in a rainstorm, with James getting his shoulder wet. The kind that cuddles near the fireplace with 70s/80s music playing in the background. They bickered, argued, got hot and bothered, tried to understand each other, and fell in love in the entire process. Most importantly, they always got to face their battles and tragedies with each other.
Harry has Lily's eyes, the freshly pickled toad eyes. And he's got the lightning bolt scar. He is the textbook dark and brooding guy, with the kindest heart. Dark unless you see him with the people he loves. Ginny has bright brown eyes and fire-like hair. She is confident, natural with people, and has always been described as bright or glowy. Harry and Ginny are the couple that dances like kids in the rain. They are the couple who will have snowball fights or ice-skate on a starry night. They pined, even when they always noticed each other. They had to fight their own battles apart from each other so that they could win the war together. The ultimatum: they came back to life because of each other.
The difference might seem minor, but it's in the most glaringly obvious things. There are physical and spiritual differences! Even yet, if you can't distinguish, look for the tags ;)
A LIFE THAT WASN'T
The crimson sun bleeds golden into the indigo twilight, clouds scattered like loose threads across the azure sea. An ancient melancholy settles deep within his heart, leaving his soul restless and lost. He has lived long, lived well. The sea foams at his feet and the breeze weaves through his hair like a lover’s caress. A love lost to time, a family so fine and a few thousand memories that sing for him, one last time. And he is back to the day love found him and he was saved. Because isn’t it the greatest love that saves? Even yet, his soul aches once more, for he has loved and he has lived but there still remains that deep melancholy feeling that always seeps in from time to time. As his lost, hardened heart strums the last chords of that fateful day, she never comes to him, and only one sight remains. The sky melts into the sea. It’s crimson and it’s golden.

I'm having Harry/Ginny feels today!
I just noticed this:
In the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first name that Harry hears from the Weasley family is…Ginny’s!
In the last book, Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last person Harry interacts with is… again Ginny!
This might seem silly, but it does mean something to me. Before knowing Hermione’s name or even Ron’s, he knew Ginny’s. And at the very end of the whole journey, the last person he talks to is Ginny.
People disregard Ginny in the books because she isn’t part of the golden trio, but in the end she becomes his wife. The person he’s decided to spend the rest of his life with. You know why? BECAUSE SHE’S A BAD-ASS, THAT’S WHY!
I heard someone on twitter saying " Ginny fell first but Harry fell harder " which i think is nonsense and overshadows Ginny's feelings and love for Harry and says why :
1- Ginny herself said she never gave up on Harry and always had hope and just started to go out and see other people thanks to Hermione's advice and start to be herself around Harry .
2- The books are from Harry pov of course we know more about his feelings and thoughts about other people , his views and opinions etc . If the books were from Ginny pov or JK wrote her pov we would know the details about her feelings for Harry .
3 - The love and dreams and the thoughts Harry had about Ginny specially in book 6 and 7, Ginny most likely had the same thing for him specially dreams of being with Harry intimate and missing him when he was out with Ron and Hermione during the horcrux haunt .
Many say she's perfect for Harry ( which is true) but people forget how perfect Harry is for Ginny and how much she loves him and that is a really underrated thing for even Hinny shippers talking about Ginny feelings for Harry and how much she loves him and he is her soulmate and her best source of happiness and hang out.
Do you agree?
I think the entire crux of the "she fell first, he fell harder" trope is the fact that people often misunderstand it by thinking he probably fell in love more.
That's not the case though.
I believe that the first one to fall in love gets to think about it. And by that, I mean, decide, double-think, delude from a distance. The first one to fall in love falls gracefully. They get to understand their own feelings, weigh if they're worth to keep and pursue. But most importantly, while they fall in love, they have the power to keep themselves intact.
The last to fall in love falls like they've been hit by a fucking truck at the bottom of a hill. For them, love hits them out of nowhere. It might have been there all the time, but they might have been too stupid to realize it, but when they do, it's like the world does a 180. For them, love becomes deafening, suffocating, and it claws at their soul, because they lose their will to understand their own feelings except acknowledge the fact that "Yes, I want this person. I love them."
That's the entire story about Harry and Ginny. We only see Harry's reaction to Ginny having a crush on him, growing up, moving on, becoming a powerhouse of her own. Normally, for a person like Harry with so many things going wrong in his life all at the same time, that's not something worth noticing. But still, she's there, in the back of her mind, growing up, taking a place in his mind as if it was her own. And then, he realizes. And after, he falls. So, we see the wild, crazed, yearning part of him realising that fuck, he fucking loved this girl. His best friend's sister. And so much more than that.
And we never see Ginny's side of it. But that's fine, because her feelings were never for show. She realized they were hers to keep and protect and for only one boy to know about them, a long time ago.
perfect explanation 💗
the way people slap ron’s personality traits (i.e loyalty, bravery, dark humour, altruism, courage, strength, resourcefulness, kindness) onto malfoy and then ship hermione with him is so hilarious. like it’s giving classism that’s literally ron in a wig with a rich family, just say you hate poor people and go lmao
so, I'm still not over the fact that Robbie, a soldier, died from septicaemia and Cecilia, a nurse, died in a bombing.
he was killed by an infection. she was killed by a direct act of war.
if she had been around to treat him, he might have survived. if he had fought in victorious battles, she might have survived.
