Steven Moffat, no matter what you think of him, just isn’t that sexist.
Pointing out every flaw of Davis’ era does not help Moffat, it only creates a bigger gap.
Yes, Moffat’s story arcs are complex, but they’re not that complex, and there is nothing wrong with them.
Yes, Davis’ story arcs are incredibly simple and can sometimes consist of only random phrases, but there is nothing wrong with that.
Neither eras are perfect.
Rose is not the most important companion.
Ten is not a perfect hero. He is as flawed as the Doctor’s ever been.
Eleven is not the only face to be manipulative. That is a trait the Doctor has always had.
The Doctor is not a hero. Stop glorifying him.
Not everybody is glorifying the Doctor’s actions when trying to defend him.
New Who is not superior to Classic Who and vice versa.
Don’t complain about Classic Who’s effects. They did the best with what they had.
Don’t complain about what they have and have not done in the past. You cannot change the fact that it has/has not been done.
If you have a problem with the show, don’t watch it. This applies to any other show/book/movie/podcast/etc.
If you are spreading slander and hate, do not call yourself a critic. It makes actual critics look bad.
If you think spreading slander, hate, threats, etc is in any way a good idea, seek help.
There are people who like what you don’t. Don’t make them feel bad for liking it.
Doctor Who has an ever changing canon. It’s constantly being rewritten. This is not a sole trait of Moffat.
Just because you don’t relate to a companion doesn’t mean nobody else does.
Being special does not mean they’re not worthy of being a companion.
This is a television show, not the back-drop to your greaser-soc war.

okay, there are some fair points on here but i can’t forgive Moffat-apologist posts to be honest.
Steven Moffat, no matter what you think of him, just isn’t that sexist.
Wrong. Moffat is unbelievably sexist for someone who is in charge of such a massive part of British media. Just a few of the sexist things he has said with sources:
"Women are needy" (x)
“there’s a huge, unfortunate lack of respect for anything male” (x)
"I was called a misogynist because I was reducing women to mothers. ‘Reducing women to mothers’ – now there is possibly the most anti-women statement I’ve heard." (x)
"You could accuse me of having a fetish for powerful, sexy women who like cheating people. That would be fair." (x)
“I remember when I was reading that story as a kid, Sherlock goes on and on about The Woman, the only one who ever beat him, and you’re thinking, he’s had better villains than this. And then you click: he fancies her, doesn’t he? That’s what it’s about.” (x) Yes Moffat, because the only reason that Sherlock would be interested in her is not because she is intelligent, has agency and was one of the only people to beat him, no! These aren’t even all of his comments. I found so many other sexist comments he has made, if you want to read more then they are here. Moffat is a sexist and a misogynist . And not only that, his homophobic and saying that asexuality is boring runs rampant especially on twitter:
‘“When did I say I thought I was contributing to bisexual visibility?? Please stop being rude to me, you have no reason to be.”. ’
And in any case, if you have to say ‘He’s not that sexist’ to find a redeeming feature in a sexist man, you’re not doing a very good job.

Criticising Moffat does include comparing him to his predecessors. Davies was by no means perfect but it’s not secret that representation of women and minority groups was far better in Davies’ era.

It isn’t simply that Eleven is manipulative, but to quote Claudia Boleyn in this video: "He treats her [Clara] with such a lack of respect it’s unreal." I myself can’t claim to be an expert on all of Moffat’s era as I gave up trying to watch it but the Doctor’s sexist comments to Amy "Put some trousers on" and "She’s a woman" are indicative of Moffat’s own sexism shining through in Eleven’s character.
If you have a problem with the show, don’t watch it. This applies to any other show/book/movie/podcast/etc.
I’m sooooo sick of hearing ‘if it’s so bad then don’t watch it’. Did you know it is possible to like some aspects of a show while being critical of others??? It is important and sometimes even necessary to analyse the media that we are consuming and criticise it because constructive criticism is how things improve!

This seems to be a thinly-veiled attack on YouTube DW fans who make videos reviewing and criticising Doctor Who, such as previously mentioned Claudia Boleyn (who I highly recommend watching if you like analysis of media like I do). And I’ll repeat myself here, it is important and necessary to be critical of media because that is how media improves.
Do not judge a relationship when they only showed tiny bits of it on screen.
You can judge a relationship if there is barely any relationship there due to fault of the writer.

This show is a British national treasure and when what you want is a show that accurately shows my country for the diverse, multicultural, beautiful place that it is instead of a whitewashed mess that stinks of cishet male writers. Plot of DW aside, there hasn’t been a female writer on Doctor Who for nearly 10 years and there is a disgusting lack of POC in the show as well as women. Jenny and Vastra are the only queer people on the show who have reoccurring roles and they haven’t even kissed, although Eleven has sexually assaulted Jenny and was remorseless about it.
Anyone watching this train wreck of a showrunner has the right to complain if he is writing such shit and putting it on a family show for children to watch and think this behavior is okay. Moffat’s writing isn’t fit for Doctor Who unless he can start creating more diverse casts and starts teaching lessons that amount to more than ‘look how great the Doctor is!!!’
Ryuusei becomes awkward when Tomoko shows interest in him, but doesn't get annoyed or tell her to stop, and acts exactly the same way when other women (Inga, Ritsuko) show interest in him and also when Gentaro is trying to glomp him in public:
Fandom: "Ugh! Tomoko's so creepy! Doesn't she realize how uncomfortable she's making him? She should just get over it and accept he doesn't like her that way!"
Kaito is at best disinterested, at worst irritated by Minato hitting on him, and at one point physically moves out of her way and tries to make her stop because she's trying to touch him when he doesn't want her to:

One reason I rarely talk about race within Kamen Rider or Super Sentai is because there hasn’t been much to talk to. Any black character is either a background character or a one-shot character. I’m also not well versed about how different Asian groups are portrayed and their relationship to Japan. That said, here are my comments:
In the early days of Super Sentai openings, I noticed that the red rangers would box a black man and knock them out. Is that their way of saying the rangers are strong?
Typically, they’ll have white characters more so than black characters.
If there’s a black character they’ll most likely be male.
Black characters only come from the U.S. or Africa.
Africa, just like in the U.S., is used as a backdrop and plot device to provide angst to a character. (See Kamen Rider OOO)
Afros are usually used for comedic effect. (Think Nitoh in Wizard getting blown and getting an improbable afro)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Korean character.
From what I can tell, they made Jiraiya biracial (half Japanese, half White) in Kakuranger to emphasize his foreignness despite the fact that his actor doesn’t have a white parent or even grandparent.
Amy in Kyoryuger doesn’t come off as an American girl. Maybe it’s because they have a Japanese actress playing her and no one has experience writing American girls.
Was Jiraiya biracial? (I watched Kakuranger before it was subbed, so it's been a while ...)
Houou Ranger of Dairanger was supposed to be half-Chinese, I believe her actress was as well. I suspect the Amy thing was just laziness, they wanted her to be "feisty" and use gratuitous English so they said she was Japanese-American yet never bothered to explore that in any way. (Ian didn't come off as foreign either even though he was ostensibly British, but at least his life back home was mentioned sometimes, Amy's never was). In Kamen Rider there's the guy who played Psyga in the Faiz movie (Taiwanese-American) and Enrique Sakamoto in Decade

I worry that the 40th Anniversary series for Sentai will be given to either Riku Sanjo to write (I didn’t like Kyoryuger), or Yasuko Kobayashi (who I think has written WAY too many shows for Toei recently.) I’ll be happy if they give it to ANYBODY but those.
How much is too much though? She’s written three Kamen Rider series and five Sentai shows. Naruhisa Arakawa has written for four Sentai shows (if you count Akibaranger). Inoue was head writer for Agito, Hibiki, Kiva, Jetman, and 555. Not to mention how many of them have written for other shows they weren’t head writers. I’m not sure how Kobayashi stands out at having written “way too many”.
You also have to remember it’s a business and that Toei isn’t just going to give it to somebody who doesn’t have an established track record. And for an anniversary season where they probably want to sell more merchandise than usual you bet they’re not going to get some newbie.
Well,giving her the 40th anniversary to write would mean she'd written three Sentai of the last five years. While I find Kobayashi annoyingly repetitive ... it wouldn't really be that different from Inoue working on Heisei Rider every year for so long? (But if I had to put a bet on it I'd say Sanjo will get the gig, cos W and Kyoryuger were huge toy sellers)

See, Sailor Moon, and by virtue Codename Sailor V was actually primarily inspired by the tokusatsu henshin hero genre, the core influence being Super Sentai and Bishoujo Kamen Powatrine.

Also if we go further, Powatrine's predecessor was Andro Kamen from the show Suki! Suki! Majo-sensei, who after some research I have concluded of most likely being the first Japanese female superheroine ever, predating Cutie Honey by 1-2 years.
Cutie Honey’s contributions in actuality is quite a lot more minimal, elements of it mostly incorporated to the anime of Sailor Moon because of how Toei worked on both projects.
But, Cutie Honey owed much of its influence on henshin hero shows as well, and you know whom Go Nagai the creator of Cutie Honey used to work with?
That’s right, Shotaro Ishinomori.
And what did Shotaro Ishinomori create?
Yep. Kamen Rider.
Kamen Rider, who also began the so called Secon Monster Boom, or Henshin Boom, and started the trend of Henshin Heroes, and was thus the direct inspiration of not only Cutie Honey, who took many of its ideas, but also Andro Kamen, the show that ran alongside Kamen Rider in 1971.
I.E. Magical Girl Warriors are actually because of Andro Kamen, who was because of Kamen Rider.
Everything Japanese you like will eventually lead back to Kamen Rider.

Even if we did say Cutie Honey was the sole inspiration for Sailor Moon, the keyword is inspiration. It would be acknowledged that while slightly progressive for its time, Cutie Honey suffered from some of the more sexist aspects and that Sailor Moon has evolved from that.
Also, what parts of Sailor Moon borrowed from Cutie Honey? The magical girl element? The fighting element? The outfit changes? For all I know, Naoko may have just took the outfit change part. It’s possible to be inspired by only certain parts.

The joke isn’t that they’re cruel or bad at parenting or have any particular disdain for the world at large. They aren’t unkind to their neighbors or to the animals and their deeply devoted to their children and to each other. The joke is that they’re happy. The Addams Family is missing a lot of the typical sitcom tropes. There’s no mother-in-law jokes, no arguing over who’s supposed to fill what gender role, both Morticia and Gomez spend roughly equal amounts of time parenting the children and the most remarkable is the relationship between Morticia and Gomez. You see Morticia Addams and it really highlights how rare it is in family films and TV sitcoms to see a wife and mom character who isn’t like this “dissatisfied housewife always mad at my big dumb husband but I love him gonna stay with him because this is the world and he’s the best I can get and I am always right because wifes are the smart ones hey you can relate to this average American I guess”. Morticia and Gomez in contrast are usually working together you know rarely party A will keep something from party B but for the most part the form little schemes together as partners both are heads of the household and they almost never disrespect each other - remarkable in a genre where that’s usually the joke. But the reason the Addams are happy is really beacause they exist outside of society’s expectations. Gomez is a man child who plays with his trains and that’s fine. Morticia fences with her husband and plays with weapons often and it doesn’t occur to them to care what other people think.
