2026 Witches' Calendar
For all my witches out there, hereâs a handy list of the 2026 dates for the solstices, some commonly-referenced holidays, full and new moons, planetary retrogrades, and special celestial events. Iâve listed my sources at the bottom. This year's listings have also been updated to include full moon and seasonal observance dates for the Southern Hemisphere.
Dates and times for all events are calculated for Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -5). Adjust for your location as needed and check the DarkSky Placefinder to see what special events will be visible in your area.
Please Note: This is not meant to be a universal or infallible system of marking seasonal or lunar days of import for witches and pagans. Readers should take their own paths and beliefs into account, and are also encouraged to create their own seasonal calendars, holidays, and observances based on your local biome and personal preferences. Enjoy!

Japanese Wisteria (Wisteria floribunda 'Alba')
Potion time
Spell of Banishment of Winter Feelbads
It smells so good in here
There's a certain poetry to finishing this right as it's getting dark and blue outside.
(This came out so fucking good I will definitely be making this again.)
Certainly!
I was loosely following a wassail recipe I found but made some substitutions, and this might be closer to a mulled cider than a true wassail, but either way it's delicious.
Ingredients:
-64 floz (~2 litres) of apple cider
-5 mid sized oranges
-1 regular or 2 small lemons
-1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-3 or 4 cinnamon sticks (I used three since one was chonky)
-fresh ginger root (or 1/4 tsp ground ginger)
-15 whole cloves or 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
-1 Tablespoon of honey
Optional: your choice of rum or brandy
Preparations:
Juice four of the five oranges and your lemon(s). Slice the fifth orange and poke the whole cloves into the slices.
Thinly slice the ginger root. I ended up only using one of the two pictured, and each of those were about 4 inches long or so.
Add all of the ingredients to your cooking vessel and bring to a medium heat. You want to see a bit of bubbling in the liquid (not a rolling boil) and a froth/foam will form on top. This is fine!
Reduce to a low simmer (around a 3 out of 10) for 30-40 minutes. Stir everything in the pot in about five minute intervals.
Storage:
If you aren't going to drink it all immediately, you can pour it back into the original cider container or any air tight container and keep it in the fridge.
Yearly reblog of my wassail recipe with the addendum that you DO NOT need fresh ingredients for this.
I've opted to use a 1/4 teaspoon of all four spices, and got a single serve thing of Simply Orange orange juice and grocery store lemon juice instead of freshly juiced citruses the last couple times I've made this. If you want to just buy a bunch of things, toss them into a pot together, and simmer them you absolutely can do that.
10 Spells You Can Cast Right Now Using Absolutely Nothing

1. The Invisible Shield Breath Take three deep breaths. Visualize a protective bubble forming around you with each exhale. Say: "I am protected." Use before stressful situations.
2. The Threshold Protection Stand in a doorway. Place a hand on each side of the frame. Say: "This is the boundary. Only what serves me crosses this line." Step through with intention.
3. The Mirror Visualization Close your eyes. Imagine you're covered in tiny mirrors facing outward. Any negativity bounces off and returns to sender. Use when dealing with gossip or jealousy.

The Flower In The Hedge - A Baneful Protection Spell
Then the maiden and her dear Roland took again their natural shapes, and traveled on the whole night through until daybreak. Then the maiden changed herself into a beautiful flower, standing in the middle of a hedge of thorns, and her dear Roland into a fiddle-player. It was not long before the witch came striding up, and she said to the musician, "Dear musician, will you be so kind as to reach that pretty flower for me?â "Oh yes," said he, "I will strike up a tune to it." Then as she crept quickly up to the hedge to break off the flower, for she knew well who it was, he began to play, and whether she liked it or not, she was obliged to dance, for there was magic in the tune. The faster he played, the higher she had to jump, and the thorns tore her clothes, and scratched and wounded her, and he did not cease playing until she was spent, and lay dead.
-Sweetheart Roland, Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales
Intent: To protect yourself or a loved one from someone who means to do you harm.
Ideal Timing: Waning Moon
Materials:
Jar with Screw-top Lid
Pins, Needles, & Tacks
Palmful of Salt*
Poppet
To begin with, yes, this is a spell of protection. And yes, it is also a baneful spell. Two things can be true, and they are not incongruous. This particular model is a target-triggered spell, meaning that the effect of the spell will not activate unless the target of the spell completes a designated action. Thus, the activation of the spell is the consequence of their own actions.
Take your poppet and stuff the material focus, if there is one, into the chest cavity. If a focus is not available, you can use a name slip or name the poppet thus:
Poppet, I name you [Name]. Your limbs are their limbs, your flesh is their flesh. As you suffer, so shall they suffer, according to my will.
If the target is an unknown person, the poppet can be named Danger or Threat, but this spell generally works best with a proper name. You can also specify the actions which will trigger the activation of the spell, as well as the consequences that will arise when it does, or the harm to be undone by the spell.
In the jar, combine half of the pins with the salt.* Put the poppet inside on top of the pins, then pour the rest of the pins on top to form a loose cage. Whisper into the jar:
On your feet, it's time to dance; With the music, jump and prance.
Cap the jar and seal the lid tightly. Select a song with a good dancing beat and shake the jar to the beat for as long as you can. If you can make it through the whole song, do so; if not, shake for as long as you can. The idea is that as the poppet "dances," it is pierced by the pins in the jar.
Set the jar aside somewhere that it won't be disturbed. Whenever the target gives you trouble, take the jar out, turn on the music, and shake the poppet full of pins. If at any point you feel the target has learned their lesson, retrieve the poppet from the jar, take out any pins stuck into it, and remove the focus or dunk the poppet in saltwater overnight to neutralize the spell.
*Yes, I know that salt is generally used to protect, or to neutralize a spell. In this case, it's there to make the pinpricks hurt more. Feel free to substitute your favorite noxious herb or stinging spice if you don't wish to use salt in your jar.

Magical Oil Recipes - Protection and Warding Edition
For anyone looking to brew up some magical protections or enhance their current warding measures, here are some recipes Iâve created that you might find useful.
To prepare them, blend the ingredients in such proportions as feels correct for your purposes (or as supplies allow). Use dried material except where indicated. Place a few spoonfuls in a mason jar with a screwtop lid and fill the jar with a bland oil of your choice. (Vegetable oil of the sort you would buy for cooking works fine.) Screw the lid on tightly and shake well to combine, then leave the jar in a dark dry place for 2-4 weeks to steep.
Once steeped, prepare a clean storage bottle (also with a secure lid) and label with the type of oil and the bottling date. Strain the oil through paper towels or cheesecloth to remove the plant material, then bottle immediately. Store away from sunlight and heat for up to one year. Use for spellwork as you see fit.
(Please note that NONE of these potions are meant to be taken internally by any means. Observe all proper safety measures related to glass, fire, and potentially harmful plants as necessary during preparation.)
*- Ingredient is potentially harmful if inhaled or ingested. **- Ingredient should not be used or handled if you are pregnant or nursing.

Quick tip for new pagans (something that took me years to understand): faith isnât a chore, or at least it shouldnât be. If your religion starts to feel like itâs taking a toll on you, thatâs a sign to take a step back, maybe practice more casually for a while. Thereâs no obligation for you to feel the connection 100% of the time. Faith is a great help, but itâll come through when you need the help. So donât force yourself into spirituality at a time when it doesnât come naturally. Itâll leave you exhausted, not to mention spirituality is one of things that just canât be forced. Trust me: fluctuations in your faith are temporary. Plus, there are lots of ways to keep a steady, yet casual connection to your faith. The Gods have always been there, whether you feel their presence or not.
This is how you construct a Spirit Vessel.
As Samhain approaches, Iâve been getting a number of requests to post the rest of my Samhain ritual. Unfortunately, itâs all in my grimoire but itâs not typed up so I hope you can all read my handwriting đ
If you have any questions about it, please donât hesitate to send me a message.
Here it is. This is the spell bottle that kicked off the trend for bottle spells. This is what started the tiktok jars.
Gods, I hope not. There were bottle spells way before me, and there will be many after I'm food for worms.
Samhain Ritual Part 1 - Calling the Ancestors
The sigil above represents a cemetery and was created by @qedavathegrey â. You can see their post about the sigil and itâs ideal uses here.
To complete the first part of this ritual you will need:
a cauldron or cast-iron cooking pot
graveyard dirt (from the cemetery of an ancestor or from the grave of an ancestor if you can)
purified water
candles (mullein is best) and matches
salt
Herbs associated with the dead which are safe to burn (dried apple chips, bay leaves, wormwood, mugwort, myrrh, frankincense)
Any pictures or messages that you would like to send to your ancestors
If you are performing the ritual at the graveside of one of your ancestors, first clear the grave and headstone of any debris. Place candles on the headstone and around the grave (if you are doing the ritual at home, place the candles in a circle).
Sitting in front of your ancestorâs grave (or inside your circle). In a cauldron or cast iron pot, place a layer of salt and then a small mound of graveyard or grave dirt in the pot. Pour a little of the purified water onto the dirt in the pot so that it is damp. Make a small hole in the centre of the mound and place your chosen herbs and incense associated with the dead which are safe to burn (dried apple chips, bay leaves, wormwood, mugwort, myrrh, frankincense etc.)
Light the herbs on fire â they should settle into a light smoulder.
Say Formal Message â âWe have come here on this night when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, to honour those who have come before. We offer thanks for the teachings and lessons bestowed upon us and we pray that they have found comfort and rest in the realms of the dead.â
âOpen wide, I pray thee, the gates through which all must pass. Â Let my dear ones who have gone before, return this night to make merry with me. Â And when my time comes as it must to all living things, I ask that Death, the giver of peace and rest, allow me to enter thine realms, for I will come gladly and unafraid; for I know that when rested and refreshed among my loved ones, I will be reborn again. Â I ask that once I rise anew, let it be in the same place and at the same time as my beloved ones, and may I know and love them once more.â
Stand and turning anti-clockwise, face west (as the sun sets) âThe west is the land of the dead, to which many of my loved ones have gone for rest and renewal. Â On this night, I hold communion with them; as I hold the image of these loved ones in my heart and mind, I send welcome to those who have crossed over.â
âBeloved ones, in this time, when the veil is at its thinnest, I welcome you to spend a day with your descendants. I ask that you remain at peace, and grace us with your presence.â
âI call upon thee, name of ancestor you are calling. Relation to your person. Â When they died (day/month/year).â Â (Repeat as necessary) Â âI wish you well and ask that you watch over me. Please do not judge my actions for my time is not yours and our lives are very different. Â Do not despair for this is the path I have chosen.â Â
Burn offerings for ancestors (photos of family, poems, food and drink) and talk to ancestors (informal). If youâre calling relatives who have passed on that you knew in life, converse with them as you did while they were alive. However if you did not actually meet this ancestor in life then you should introduce yourself. This conversation should be relatively informal (you are related after all however itâs best to be polite and respectful at all times.

Straw Into Gold - A Spell to Bring Wealth
The little man took the necklace, seated himself before the wheel, and whirr, whirr, whirr! three times round and the bobbin was full; then he took up another, and whirr, whirr, whirr! three times round, and that was full; and so he went on till the morning, when all the straw had been spun, and all the bobbins were full of gold.
-Rumpelstiltskin
Intent: To bring wealth to the caster.
Ideal Timing: Waxing or Full Moon
Materials:
Small glass jar
Empty thread bobbins or spools
Yellow or golden embroidery floss
Green or gold chime candle
Optional: Amber or orange oil
Most sewing or craft stores will sell empty spools or bobbins for sewing machines. Acquire three such spools or bobbins and enough yellow embroidery floss or sport-weight yarn to fill them.
After sundown, light a candle (yellow or green is ideal, but white works also) and sit down with the bobbins and floss. Focus on the candle flame and think of the way in which you would like money to come into your life.
Once you have the idea firmly in mind, begin winding the floss slowly around the bobbin and continue until it is full. Repeat until you have filled all three bobbins, then blow out the candle.
Anoint the three bobbins with orange or amber oil. Place them into a small jar and leave it somewhere it will not be disturbed. If the desired wealth does not come into your life within three months, or if you need more money, repeat the spell and add the three new bobbins to the jar.
