This October (2023) I'm doing Girl Month! And I thought tumblr might appreciate the content lol.

Im a cis-ish het-ish guy and I'm taking this opportunity to experiment with my gender and also just have some fun! Actually to be more specific I have a couple of goals:

Work out if I'm trans! I mostly think im not, but sometimes I wonder...

I'm going Op shopping today for girl clothes, which I will wear fulltime (or as much as possible).

I will be taking estrogen daily, supplied by my transfem housemates. I may also try T blockers but we'll see, apparently they can fuck you up a bit.

I'm getting waxed- at least my arms, legs and chest, possibly a full brazilian

In terms of makeup, I already paint my nails but I'm also planning to try out lipstick and mascara at least. Also planning to dye a purple streak in my hair.

The following exceptions apply:

Obviously, I can stop at any time, and will if this starts severely impacting my mental or physical health or social life. I'm going to specifically check up on myself at the end of every week to make sure I'm doing okay.

I will be Boymoding for my parents, my work and associated work events, for obvious reasons. Otherwise I will maintain girlmode in public and among friends. My cis-het friend groups might be a bit weirded out but fuckem they can deal

Hormonally? Uh... That's a lot to do to yourself. Like, a lot. (Source: I am a cis person who saw my ex through her social, hormonal, and surgical transition and saw how significant an impact the changes had on her mental and physical health even as the transition itself made her very happy).

I genuinely want everyone to follow their bliss, but I don't think I'd encourage anyone to start hormone therapy as a trend, just like I wouldn't encourage them to take anxiety meds or antidepressants as a trend.

The brain chemicals... They are delicate. Fucking with them on a whim just seems ill advised.

not only is fucking around with estrogen and testosterone on a whim a good idea, it should literally be an opt-out system. They should offer you cross-sex hormones one year into puberty unless you say "no, thank you" and don't take them. If people truly internalized how mutable their bodies and genders were, how much it is within their own control, and how "biological" does not mean "destined," we could solve like 3/4ths of all gender issues within two years tops.

wow it'd suck being an actually trans person if more people transitioned for fetish reasons. it'd give people the impression that most people transition for fetish reasons. and it gives precedent to outlaw it as a sexual fetish thing, not a real condition.

What is (to you) an "actually trans person"? Someone with an incurable immutable medical condition? you could always just give estrogen a try, you know. set your concepts of gender aside and focus on what it would do to your flesh. your skin would get softer, your body hair would become thinner and softer, and the smell of your body would shift, all within the first few weeks. it'd start small, sure, but it'd grow over the next coming months - where, of course, the emotional changes come in. you'll cry a little easier each day, emotions flowing much more smoothly as your body aligns with the shape it wants.

Brief gender update i guess since I'm posting: yeah im still wearing dresses around friends and going by charlotte/october she/her but mostly through inertia if I'm being honest.

I've been boying it up a lot tbh, particularly in public.

At this point its like... girlhood (which in this context I'm defining as self-conceptualising as a girl) feels to me like standing on the side of a mountain. The view is beautiful and theres a sense of wonderment, but theres a cold wind whipping through me like icy needles.

Boyhood feels like a well worn pair of comfortable tracksuit pants that I wear in bed. It feels like apathy and laziness but also comfort.

An update on my gender situation here is long overdue, I just need to take the time and energy to type it up.

I think a girl month repeat would be... very interesting, but I'm having some difficulties like... defining it? And I think I'm at a point where my sense of my gender is acute enough to know that I don't particularly *want* to """be""" a girl right now.

But my weird reluctance is part of what's intriguing me about the idea of doing it, so we'll see. I think it could be an interesting enough scientific experiment to be worth the trouble.
