Good Omens s2 spoilers (and rant) under the cut!!!

I'm thinking maybe one of the reasons this season felt so unnecessary and unrelated to the first one to me is that there's literally NO serious repercussion in any way from what happened in s1?? Not only is 80% of the cast completely forgotten but it feels like Aziraphale in particular just. Forgot everything he was supposed to have learned?? Like the main conflict of s1 was his inability to choose right and wrong for himself and still identifying himself with his role as an angel and that's still exactly where s2 leaves us off!! Why are we still thereeeeee why are these characters so static!!

(i also feel like there was absolutely no setup for the big Gabriel/Beelzebub reveal at the end and for everything else too and the stakes were so low and easily forgotten they literally had to remind what they were at the very last minute.....wtf happened with this season why was it such a mess 😭😭)
