ok so this was worded badly. it looks like you're bodyshaming david here ("he is not fat at all, hes chubby at best) , and im just wondering why you didn't try to process what you're saying here further.
david has health problems already and has had two kidney transplants; it'd be unhealthy for him to put on any more weight. he IS fat. why are you commenting about an actors weight just because they don't match the certain image of a fictional character? c'mon man. i know this probably wasn't your intention, but it DOES come off that way. please mind what you say when talking about the actors.
i promise it isn’t an attack on the actor, but was criticism to the casting directors themselves.
if he has health issues, i wish him the best. they maybe should have casted a heavier set person to be piggy though, especially considering the health problems the actor faced??? regardless of whether you agree or not, i do think piggy wasn’t fat enough, although my intention wasn’t to make criticism towards the actor, but the fact that the bbc show was so strangely far from the book itself and in its own little world
i think it’s a bit strange that they are trying to slim down piggy, especially with the social climate around weight in the acting world. i’m sorry if it came across as a dig at the actor, as that was not my intention, and i was not saying the actor himself should gain weight. i do believe that they should have casted someone heavier as piggy, though considering how little opportunities there are in the acting industry for someone who is fat
OH OK!! i get what you're saying now. i do understand that you were criticizing the casting directors (and i agree) and not the actor; however, to me it came across that way with how you worded it. that was my entire issue with this post. thank you for clarifying!!
forgot to mention that i think me saying ("it'd be unhealthy for him to gain anymore weight") didn't come off correctly im sorry 😭 i was trying to say "well there isn't anything he can do about his weight" rather than "you want him to gain weight" that's poor wording on my part. my fault i apologize
the few minutes between the moment u yap in someones dms and they dont answer and you feel like you should get painfully dismembered for the crime of talking to someone vs the instant relief of normalcy you get when they text back and no ones killed you yet
we need to bring back old school tumblr communication and im so serious. sending an ask to a mutual just to say hello. seeing three different asks in your inbox all asking how your dentist appointment went. seeing a post you think one of your mutuals would enjoy and tagging them/sending it to them in the dms. nowadays its just silently liking a post or (if youre feeling extreme) replying under posts. WHAT HAPPENED TO US!! we used to be a proper community!!!! #LetsBringWhimsyBack
this is such a non-issue but im the same way. whenever someone says rodger to refer to roger i look the other way cuz who's that. who tf is rodger??? get his name right pls

I understand where this post was coming from, but this was not phrased in a way that was in any way fatphobic or implicitive that it was the actors fault.
And the fact it jumps directly from "this isn't an accurate depiction of the character" to "your fatphobic and think this child actor should gain weight" is a bit excessive, especially considering the expectations for actors to gain/loose weight for roles is really fucked in the first place.
It also looks really weird if you take into account that if the casting director is set on an actor but wants them to look fatter, there's countless better (and honestly more humane) ways to make the character look bigger without forcing them to gain weight. [For example sewing padding into costuming, using a fatsuit, using CGI etc.]
I'm sure there are people out there who genuinely are fatphobic and desire to harass the actor over this, so placing your frustration on someone you worded to "not mean what you were interpreting it as" makes you look pretty silly.
Perhaps next time we try and start a conversation, or ask questions before we jump to the dramatic accusations.
You can have an opinion on a certain topic, but your rant feels like it's more about your interpretation of the post than the actual contents of their post.
i do agree what i said "it'd be unhealthy for him to put on any more weight." was a bit weird, but that wasn't my intention, nor did i call them fatphobic. i acknowledged that it probably wasn't their intention. what i was commenting on was them saying "he is not fat at all, he is chubby at best." im not accusing them of anything fatphobic.
yes i do agree that my post does seem like it's moreso of my interpretation of their post, and it probably is. however, if you look at my more recent reblogs, i acknowledged that it was how i READ the post.
they clarified to me that it was a criticism of the casting directors; you don't have to jump in.
