ummmm???? do people forget that hitler’s rise to power didn’t START with the holocaust??? like it wasn’t like day one he became chancellor and said “okay from now on, all jews are going to be put into camps”. it started so much more subtle than that. he started with quietly and subtly removing jewish people from civil services, from government positions, then from the entertainment industry, then from being on radio, then from medicine and sciences, then from not letting them go to university, THEN the nuremberg laws that officially classified jewish people as outcasts. THEN Kristallnacht. THEN ghettos. and then THEN the rounding up into camps. this all happened over a span of YEARS.
dictatorship doesn’t arrive with a slimy red bow, dripping with venom. it comes promising to make your country better by putting the blame conveniently on the backs of people that are easy targets and slowly raises the temperature on them until it reaches a boiling point. make no mistake. these ARE the signs of fascism. don’t pretend that there’s an overreaction when there really REALLY isn’t.
Wannseekonferenz. The day the “final solution” was set into motion. 20th January 1942. Three years into WWII. Nine years after Hitler seized power.
Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.
I really hope communists in the u.s. don’t get outmaneuvered like communists in italy and germany did, but frankly communists in those places were completely blind-sided by fascism when it arose, in large part because fascists were able to take up populist demands and make good on them. so when the Trump administration starts making good on a lot of demands that the milquetoast “left” in the u.s. has been demanding for a long time, which to an extent it has already started doing, how are we going to respond? i admit i don’t know what the answer is but a big part of the answer has to come from recognizing that fascism has historically made big, populist concessions and has succeeded in winning over a lot of “middle forces” to its cause. you can already see this happening when you look at the buzzing that’s going on in Amerikan labor. a lot of union and other pro-labor forces in the u.s. are approaching Trump’s proposed policies with a cautious curiosity if not optimism, and i think that’ll only get more pronounced as time goes on. but historically, communists have been completely blind-sided by this every time it has happened, in part because communists have been stuck on extremely one-sided analyses of fascism as merely “the dictatorship of the finance capitalists” and so on. It is that, but the finance capitalists succeed because they draw on support from petty-bourgeois forces and even sizable segments of workers. the notion that “fascism only benefits a tiny minority” is completely bankrupt and if we can’t even identify what fascism is and how it works it will be impossible to strategize how to respond when fascists start realizing (in an extremely narrow and nationalistic way, but still realizing, for Amerikans) things that communists haven’t been able to do. fascism succeeds not only by suppressing communists by also by convincing large segments of the population that fascism works better for them than communism could, and in the short term, and without looking beyond one’s borders (or one’s neighborhood), fascists can appear to be right. how do we respond to that? i don’t think most of us have any idea, so maybe we should start thinking about that.
Like if they haven’t had enough yet. But don’t expect them to give up after that. It’ s their land and they won’t back down.
What the hell??
It’s all very very suspect and horrible. In April a ranch poured 40k pounds of ROZOL (rat poison) on their land to kill prairie dogs. This is illegal. The EPA investigated when they found 6 dead bald eagles, and linked it back to this ranch.
Not only was the poison illegal to use, but it was used incorrectly (you’re supposed to put it in the holes directly, but it was spread on the ground) and they didn’t clear out the bodies.
Here’s where it gets even worse. The ranch had been bought out by Dakota Access Pipeline.
There’s the belief that the ranch was poisoned by DAPL in order to purchase it at a very very low price. There’s also the belief that it was done to purposefully drive out protestors.
It’s difficult to find information because no major news media has reported on it. It’s been happening since April. The only reason I haven’t discounted it as fear mongering is because you can find the actual EPA report (it’s about 175 pages).
I’m on mobile so I can’t link my sources, but if you Google “ROZOL used in north dakota ranch” you’ll find the EPA report and about 3 articles on it.
There are many rumors about this, but at least two verifiable truths:
ROZOL was illegally distributed on land near the camp, and
people in camp have in fact tested positive for ROZOL poisoning
The backstory explained here is confirmed by The Bismarck Tribune http://m.bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/meyer-ranch-buffalo-under-quarantine-for-rozol-poison/article_7230182c-a174-51e2-88f8-b2977a936462.html
Here’s a less mainstream news source for good measure http://thedailyhaze.com/rozol-poisoning-camp-cough-standing-rock/
The beginning of this livestream contains the testimony of a person who tested positive for the poison to the UN Working Group on the issue of Human Rights, Transnational Corporations and other Business Enterprises https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10211523323943056&id=1362992802

White women are insidious on all fronts
These photos of Ilhan Omar’s swearing-in ceremony shows exactly why representation matters
On Tuesday, Ilhan Omar made history in the United States in more ways than one when she was sworn into the Minnesota House of Representatives.
She became the first female Muslim and Somali-American legislator.
Omar, who serves House District 60B in Minnesota, held the Quran during her swearing-in ceremony, becoming the second person to do so after Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison.
One photo, in particular, shows just how powerful this moment was and exactly why representation matters in the political system today.
In this photo, Omar is seen standing tall — donning colorful accessories and her bright orange hijab — among a sea of white faces.
This is a historic sight that doesn’t come too frequently for young women of color and Muslim Americans, especially in politics. Read more

if you can, donate to the bail funds for the protestors in D.C.

for upcoming protests: DON’T talk to the press unless you’re leadership/ you have spoken to organizers beforehand. if you’re not leadership, tell press to talk to leadership.
press will edit and twist your words against you.
Y”ALL i’m not trying to stifle u, but talking to the press IS A SKILL that requires TRAINING. you have to have a mission statement. like.
JUST COMMUNICATE TO THE ORGANIZERS ABOUT WHAT TO SAY TO PRESS. and chill out.
…the body has been for women in capitalist society what the factory has been for male waged workers: the primary ground of their exploitation and resistance, as the female body has been appropriated by the state and men and forced to function as a means for the reproduction and accumulation of labor…. the body can be for women both a source of identity and at the same time a prison, and why it is so important for feminists and, at the same time, so problematic to valorize it.
