The Ghost of a friendship
That earned a chuckle from the woman, running a hand up and down her spine to keep herself from hunching over.
“You might want to make reservations now, Pryce… Death is a force to be reckoned with, and might I say, you’ve gotten rather old…” A sinister snicker. “There are some things you just can’t predict.”
Death was certainly one of them, even Agatha, the woman who spent each and every day surrounded by death and the spirits of those long gone could not predict if she would wake up the next morning.
She walked over and reached out, stroking Swinub idly as she looked at him, her wicked smile never leaving her face. “And besides, Pryce, you look tired… Actually, you look like death.” She joked, running her knuckles over Swinub’s head.
“I’m not quite sure if you’re really here or if your just another lost spirit seeking my help…” She placed both of her hands on her cane and started into his eyes, her smirk growing. “No… There’s still some life in those eyes… Impressive…”
She stepped back and opened her arms, smirking. “And we’re glad to have you, just look at how lively we’ve become in your presence…”
Thought it wasn’t long before her hands were back on her cane, hunched over as usual. “Oh don’t apologize, I understand… You simply had cold feet…”
“Prediction and everything related to it has never been my strong point, dear. Time, instead, has grown to be something I know better than I would have ever wanted or imagined.”
He doesn’t move as she walks closer, a smile still leaning out in his lips. He might know a lot of things, yet that back of hers still worried him. It was almost as if walking was more difficult to her than to him, which was enough to say. Enough, something that cane wasn’t. But he knew even death itself wouldn’t convince her to get a walker or anything like that, so why would he even try?
“My death, yours, the time we both have left to spend... It is certainly relative. I think that even you would be surprised of the possibilities open with every chance and decision.”
Such as not getting a walker, he said to himself.
“Countless. You would need more than a lifetime to get a glimpse of all of them, and more than a single eternity to understand them, to understand how it all works.
But I can say that, while it is true that death can still take any of us by surprise, you and I included, the day has not gone in a way in which I wouldd say I am going to die, nor tomorrow. And as long as there are a couple of hours left, there is absolutely no need to rush our reservations, nor worry about them.”
A little chuckle left his lips as she stared into his eyes like that, holding her gaze as long as it lasted. Swinub let out a small snort at the pat, happily sniffing Agatha’s hand before she pulled it away. She smelled like dead flowers and, well, death in general. But Swinub was used to weird things, enough to not be concerned over that. He couldn’t expect less from Pryce’s friend.
“I am indeed alive, and Arceus, such a warm welcome is overwhelming me to the point of melting my heart, Agatha. If my feet had not been cold to the point I could not stand up, I would have come far sooner.
Anyway, I know you usually drink your tea at this time, more or less... I would hate to be a bother for your sacred hour, but would you mind if I joined?”

⊰❄ —⊱ And so it was over.
The emerald hue coming from the forest’s light faded as the portal was closed once the brave boy returned safe to where he belonged. But Pryce didn’t see it. He didn’t bother looking, saying another word, he didn’t bother. He couldn’t really move, after all. One of his hands with the strongest grip he could manage to provide to his wheel chair’s armrest, an attempt to keep himself from falling to Arceus knew where, even if he had already fallen. His right hand, the other one, held Swinub close to his chest.
The small Ground type shouldn’t be there. Yet there he was, indeed. Gently nuzzling against his trainer’s hand as Pryce’s tears fell.
That long lost song was still ringing on his ears, a melody he himself would hum if he could find the voice to. Ah, how ironic, that he, in such a situation, had never felt happier.
Until the portal in front of his eyes closed as well, as the image he saw in it found its place in his heart to never leave.
Only then, when the door between Glacier, his parents and Pryce close, leaving him alone, was that the man tilted his head to look at Celebi.
“So...”
“I guess this is what I get, right? I will be stuck here forever, right, Celebi?”
draicon replied to your post:
bc kids like nice dudes thats why i don’t KIDNAP ANY OF THEM – they come willingly
“Such precious children you have, Lance.”
“It would be a shame..:”
“...If any of them...”
“...Disappeared.”
[ But I saved your life...? ]:
❛ AGE is affecting your eye-sight, OLD MAN. ❜
“My sight, perhaps. However I can say my reasoning and common sense have been put in their places with age. I hope the time that happens to you comes soon, son.”
“Why would someone so young have so many children?”
[ What did I ever do to you? ]:
❛ that or i’m just TOO DAMN SEXY. ❜
“........I actually do not think so.”
[ Still angry with me, apparently ]:
❛ i’m surprised your PRESENCE hasn’t chilled it down a NOTCH. ❜
“I wish it actually cold. Maybe it is your anger, heating it up way too much.”
[18:40:12] Oмєℓєттє Sєηραι: what's the pryce [18:40:38] 綿 Wata: for children it's actually free
“And some people still say that Global Warming is not a real problem.”
The Ghost of a friendship
The future was unimportant now, or at least that is how a woman caught up in the spirits of those since passed saw it. How odd it was, that death was the future as well as the past, it was what lied ahead for everyone, but the death of loved ones were all mere shadows of the past.
And that is where she belonged, a figure of the past, blocking herself off from the modern life. Agatha was at home here, she could waste away her life with those who longed for the chance. The people she spent time with in the past had done the same, dedicated themselves to their passion, so what else could she do? She with a passion for things long gone.
Her time was spent in Lavender Towns Pokemon Tower, caring for the graves of those departed and keeping them company. Every once in a blue moon she would have to calm down angered spirits, but it was nothing she couldn’t handle, rather it was something she enjoyed doing. Livening her rather dull life was always welcomed.
The woman was currently going from grave to grave, collecting the dead and dried roses from the graves. She had a pot of dead flowers at the top of each set of stairs, things were much more lovely when they were no longer living.
Perhaps she was the only one who thought so.
After gathering up the roses she idly walked from grave to grave, making sure no one had dared desecrate any. That would be a foolish move indeed, despite being no longer part of the Elite and their cause, whatever it be now, she was not afraid to punish those who she saw fit to punish.
The sound of poorly greased wheels drew her attention from her angry thoughts, glancing to the side as she finished wiping off some dust from a grave, giving her cane a death grip as she pushed herself up, turning to look at Pryce.
“Well Pryce, the silence won’t last. After all, we’ve been dying to see you, we can barely contain ourselves.”
What a way to make his presence known, but after all, he knew her sadistic sense of humor, just the pun itself brought a smirk to her face, let alone the sight of an old friend in front of her, or rather, a ghost of her past. She handed the dead roses to her Gengar who ran off with them as she took a good look at her friend.
“So Pryce, did you come to make final reservations?”
⊰❄ —⊱ “My final reservations? I am afraid I reserve them for when my time has finally come. And be it good or bad luck, I still have more than days left.”
A glance at the dead flowers carefully collected in pots, and he silently thanked he was able to find Agatha in the lowest floor. As if stairs themselves weren’t enough of a challenge, he had no idea of how he would have managed to reach any floor upstairs with pots and flowers here and there.
He would ask her if that was what she had been doing for the last years, taking care of graves and spirits, of Pokémon who weren’t there anymore. Surrounded by nothing but death. But he knew the answer already.
He would ask her how she had been, what had been of her life. But he already knew.
Now he thought about it, why had he come, exactly? Anything he could ask her, he knew it already. He had watched her for years. For more than that. He’d had a whole eternity to watch her live, watch everyone live.
But from Agatha, ah, he could expect surprises. And he wondered what they would be.
“But I am indeed glad to be here.” Here, as in not in that damned tower full of nothing but death, that was for sure. It was too depressing. If it had been for him, they would have met in any other place, but if meeting after so many years parted apart by death and time meant having to be, once more, surrounded by graves, he could gut it quite well.
“It feels like an eternity since last time we talked. Forgive me for not having come sooner.”

Memories of that time I wish to see you shine again Shining like a new star Like a new moon
⊰❄ —⊱ No day had passed in the Tunel of Time that he didn’t watch over that old, broken apart group of friendship. The six of them, they had took paths so separated from each other it seemed almost impossible to think they had been so tightly united once, so close, so dear to each other. And somehow, he liked to think they still were.
Some had chosen a peaceful life, and they had done well. That was what they all should have done. For example, those two had married and opened their Daycare, the first and only one in Johto. Kurt, his first best friend, still lived in Azalea and kept making craft Pokéballs every day. Oak... Well, that was obvious. A world wide celebrity, the Pokémon Professor. They all were to envy, simple and happy, living of what they loved the most.
Then there were Agatha and Pryce himself. The ones who did everything wrong. Pryce was the first one to leave the group, after all. Cutting contact with everyone, even if it was for professional reasons. Not replying to their letters or calls anymore. Not visiting them. Not letting them visit him. Hiding and isolating himself, even after the five of them had written him that song he ignored and tried to forget. The song that hadn’t left his mind ever since he fell to the Tunel of Time, echoing in his head at every moment for an eternity as he watched his friends’ past and present.
He liked to think that song still tied them all together. Or at least, tied him to all of them, still hoping that, even if it was too late, he could still go back to those days now that he was near the end of his life after all. Go back to those days, to that friendship.
He could only hope that Agatha would think the same, even when her friendship with Oak seemed indeed irreparable, permanently broken for what Pryce had seen. A last battle, a defeat, and Oak’s passion for studying Pokémon rather than training them. Lack of ambition, she said. And then it all took a fall down spiral for her, getting involved with the young forest kid Pryce had once seen as someone similar to a grandson, yet every day burning brighter with a fire that would consume him, and so it did. It was all in Pryce’s eyes, and in the same way, he knew where he could find Agatha now, almost six years after Lance’s defeat.
Yes, there she was. Lurking between the graves, surrounded by her ghosts and many other spirits he couldn’t see, but she probably did. He silently thanked her for not being on the top of the tower, otherwise it had certainly been more difficult for him to reach her. Pryce slowly approached to where she was, the wheels of his chair being the only sound that broke the silence.
“I see it is still dead silent here.”
That was it. That was his greeting after years being apart. He wasn’t sure of how would she take it, but he was indeed sure of one thing: she would be dead and her spirit would fill her own funeral with acid humour. So, anything else would sound so cheesy. He could say “it’s been a long time” and she might try to hit him with her cane over how awfully cliché that was.
Memories of those times I wish to see you smile again ...Smiling...
