THIS WASN’T HOW SHE SAW HER LIFE GOING. she was madly in love with the man of her dreams, that was a huge plus, but they were far from being ready for a family of more than fur–children. yet she sat on the edge of the claw foot tub in the home she occupied with jonas ( when she wasn’t on the road ) with a stick in her hand that changed her future forever. pregnant — the one thing she always wanted, didn’t know if she could have, & still she sat with an opposite of thrilled response.
the call to her mum was exhausting & excruciating. julia was elated until her daughter expressed how despite her own happiness, she’d never told jonas about her miscarriage at such a tender age & the fear her cysts could put her in the same position again killed her. ever the wise, julia calmed paige down, told her that if jonas was as amazing a man as she described him to be, he’d be right there for her. mum knows best, right? it soothed her pain for a few moments after hanging up the call — until she looked up to see the bathroom door swing open.
the pain on her face contorted the bright & cheerful expression she normally possessed when jonas was in her general vicinity. he was concerned as he approached her, that much was apparent. all she could do was hold her forehead & sob while passing jonas the test. she waited until he made eye contact with her again before ( sloppily, only because emotions were never her strong suit ) signing.
« i’m pregnant. » she struggled to keep some semblance of composure, terrified. absolutely terrified.
