From putting on a facade to get Mr Sheng's attention to his happily ever after with Mr Sheng (and fine, Little Peanut).
13 year old gay girls online have never been wrong
already october. that'd freak me out if any year since 2019 had been real. luckily they haven't
The dynamic between the four leads in revenged love is so interesting because it’s genuinely very accurate to queer culture. And I mean this in a very hyper specific way
Right after the 70s, when homosexuality formally became outlawed in most places, queer people finally began having an outlet to express themselves, we could be gay in public and not be killed for it. That meant something. But at the same time, the social stigma remained. The “Bury your gays” trope and “gay villain” archetypes dictated the ways we could be seen by society and exist in it. There wasn’t a space for us. In many countries, there still isn’t a space for us today.
So where does this leave us? What do a bunch of outcasts do? They create their own family. Queer people have historically created their own groups, little families they share both platonic and romantic bonds with. It’s not quite the same as a blood related family, you won’t really kiss your actual brother (hopefully) but it’s close enough. It’s who we are. It’s what we have. It’s us.
That’s what the dynamic in revenged love reminds me off. Guo Chengyu’s parents wanted a daughter and struggle with accepting him. Chi Cheng parents can’t deal with his sexuality. Wu Suowei’s parents never got a chance to love the truest version of him. Jiang Xiaoshuai’s parents aren’t even relevant enough in his daily life to be mentioned.
Maybe all four of them really love their families and are loved back in equal amounts but it doesn’t change the fact that within their family, in the traditional form, none of them quite belong.
Therefore, they do what queer people have done for generations and create this weird queer platonic friendship with each other that edges on all sorts of connotations because they can.
It’s who they are. It’s them. It’s a dynamic that’s fit only for them and they’ve created it for themselves. The ultimate queer experience.
So I’m not saying all gay people have sex with each other or reintroducing the stereotype that all LGBTQ folk are hyper sexual. But what I am saying is in a world which doesn’t allow us to explore love on our terms, we have always created a world of our own to explore. Love isn’t just sexual, romantic or platonic for us. It’s how we choose to define it. It’s how the four of them choose to define it.
Side note: Anyone who finds Chi Cheng and Guo Chengyu kissing weird should look at my totally platonic relationship with my best friend when the two of us were at the peak of our sexuality exploration because holy shit did we make these two look normal. The gays are weird. Don’t judge us.
oh that's his soulmate, who's food, a token of his love, who's constant nagging of "you need to eat!", he's missed so dearly 🥺😔.
Those are the eyes of a man whose world is finally in order again.
Half of it sleeping, trusting and content, in his arms; the other half fussing lovingly over him.
His family. His (be)loved ones. His all.
i could find gay subtext in absolutely anything i could find gay subtext in the straightest thing ever created. im like those medieval scholars who insisted on finding christian interpretations of pagan ideas n text but. for gay ppl
pinky promise? it’s a deal.
seeing all the girls i went to high school with getting married and having babies and like I know this sounds mean but it’s literally like watching a horror movie
Say what you want to say. After I finish this cigarette, you won't get the chance to do so.

Every time someone comments on my old fic, i feel like I'm an old actor getting paid residuals. Appreciate you, old-fic-commenters. Key source of emotional income, tbh.

love it when a show writes a character as being an inherent fuckboy and then. u know. allowing him. letting him. be a fuckboy. and stay true to his character traits deep into the storyline, despite his love interest being cemented, but not being together with them just yet, rather than it being an ~introductory shot~ of him and then the fuckboy trait being dismissed and forgotten about. like no. cheng yu isn't with xiao shuai yet. let him be who he is: a fuckboy. a sleaze!!!! and the show did! but also i will say this. i loved the contrast of wu suo wei who is STRUGGLING with his (bi)sexuality, being in a gay club with guo cheng yu, who is so so sooo sure of his queerness, who is going around with a cigarette in one hand, touching different guys with the other, and openly flirting with them. who, at once, recognised what suo wei's issues were with "not liking men enough to sleep with them", and just said it out loud to him, plain and simple, in those exact terms.
go on king, be on ur worst behaviour!!!
