The  boy  meant  no  harm  ,  it  was  an  astute  observation  ,  he  just  didn't  have  the  initiative  to  understand  that  perhaps  he  shouldn't  have  brought  the  poor  pharmacist's  discomfort  to  light  .

Orel  had  watched  the  other  man  see  himself  out  ,  he  seemed  like  a  nice  guy  .  Of  course  young  Orel  hasn't  really  put  two  and  two  together  here  .

A  disgruntled  expression  when  Glenn  swore  but  he  lets  it  slip  .  That  was  a  pretty  terrible  word  too  .  His  mother  would  have  washed  his  mouth  out  with  soap  .

❝   Oh  ?  -  Well  ,  yeah  .  It  was  obvious  but  I  think  the  other  fella's  understand  that  maybe  it's  your  first  day  .  ❞  It's  far  from  the  stranger's  first  day  at  the  pharmacy  ,  though  Orel  wasn't  to  know  that.  He  just  assumed  by  the  way  he  had  fumbled  so  hard  !

there's a small beating of his heart as the boy says it was obvious — immediately followed by a twisted grimace of an expression. his teeth grit, one eyebrow raised over half lidded eyes in disbelief.

damn it, glenn, you must've looked like a goddamn fool !!

" ah, right ... well, that's assuring. " it's drawled with a heavy lace of sarcasm, eyes rolling as chin is placed in his hand with a huff. nervous fingers tap his cheek, elevens deeply set in his forehead.

well, it certainly felt like glenn's first day alright, but not of the pharmacy he was the proprietor of. it's like he'd forgotten how to act back there, if the kid's blunt statements didn't make it obvious enough.

" did he laugh at me ? aht, aht, aht ! — forget it. sh - shouldn't you be at school ?! "

without meaning to, glenn had let his inner thoughts slip aloud, quickly waving it off with flicks of his wrist. he'd rather not be the subject of scrutiny by some ankle biter.

glenn's eyebrows furrow at the remark about his sweatiness, instinctively tugging at his collar. he'd have said something back at it, but he can't really deny it. he's drenched, the hair is stuck to the back of his neck. hell, that feels disgusting.

lips downturn into a grimace at the unwelcome sensation, brushing his hair slightly back to distract it. blush darkens face at the exact situation mentioned — it's not that he wanted to falter around alfie, it's just that around him, glenn would stutter and stumble and mumble.

" fuck ... "

he swallows hard, cursing under his breath. if some child is pointing it out, alfie must've noticed it for sure. of course he'd have been confused !
