No surprises here!
Google's mobile "loss leader" is apparently in grave danger.
The OS that helped Google gain a head start in mobile search domination has come under legal attack.
Google has been trouncing Apple (specifically in Smartphone purchases) for a while now but has not decisively conquered the relatively young field of mobile search. There is still room for a uniquely mobile search competitor to arise (aside from Bing or Yahoo).
The lawsuit by Oracle strikes at the heart of profit for Google: It's ad search revenue from Android phones.
Will the OS survive? Or will Google turn it loose citing too much liability? How will this impact Google's stronghold on Search if Oracle is successful?

Many pundits have been clamoring at the possibility of yet another tech bubble due to the high valuation IPOs that have been happening lately in social. Well unfortunately (as you can see plain as the day above) perhaps they might have some evidence backing reasons to believe this. If only the investors could understand that even if actual activity of users does increase it will only do so incrementally as opposed to exponentially. How very short-sighted the average American shareholder is...
Apparently the leaders in propelling Twitter popularity are increasingly African-American and those aged 25-34 who may be categorized as being on the older end of Generation Y and younger end of Generation X. This will drastically change the nature of the "twitosphere" by hopefully adding more meaningful tweets in the form of link sharing and original content which can give marketers more of a deeper insight into the consumer's purchasing habits, needs and concerns.
"A New Cold War"
"Welcome to the new Cold War. Going forward it appears that the US and China will seek to maintain cordial relations publicly — China is the largest US debt holder and the US is a critical market for Chinese-made goods — while conducting computer-based espionage and counter-espionage operations against each other behind the scenes."
There's only one thing other tech businesses looking to get into China can really say at this point: Uh oh.
This looks like it'll definitely qualify to be one of the best Beer Ads of 2011.
"Not advertising that you are a foursquare merchant" seems to be the biggest goof up small businesses are making these days.
It's a simple but common mistake. Your most loyal customers should be made aware that you are now participating in foursquare so that they can benefit from their loyalty and you can benefit from increased exposure!
Title says it all!
Encouraging news for Advertisers and Marketers into Social Media: Nearly 40% of individuals surveyed who "liked" a company page did so to publicly display to friends and family their attachment to a particular brand or product.
In about 25 years we may no longer be saying "Cash or Charge" but rather "Cash or Bump".
NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies are already spearheading mobile payments. We already have Nintendo DS and PSPs which can communicate with each other using Wifi (and in the case of the latest DSi, through it's own unique wavelength).
However, that is for games, not serious business.
The real question is that of security. Just as scammers know how to install skimmers on ATM card readers we need to consider the implications of sending payment credentials wirelessly, repeatedly for daily transactions. Even if the actual detectable signal transmission is highly focused and limited we need to consider what mechanisms will be installed to deter theft of information. This is certain to be the primary topic of interest for both merchants and consumers, even before functionality is discussed.
Another Facebook assassin enters the soirée...But can the mission be accomplished?
The clearest growth can be seen in Texas. Steady growth in Florida will eventually lead it to surpass New York in the next 5 years. California shows no sign of giving up the lead. Georgia and North Carolina currently lead the South when it comes to growth.
New York used to be a population benchmark but it appears it's going to be a distant memory in that regard by 2050.
The story of Rovio proves the time old adage that success is mostly hard work and dedication, with a little bit of luck added in for good measure.
