Really loving the pattern with Desmond Lockheart always being a negative nancy, somehow it gets funnier with each new post. It's spot-on characterization, unfortunately.

Let me tell you, Anon, it's a relief to hear that! I always feel like I make him seem like a jerk who has no fun when I place him on the ranking lists, but...isn't that exactly what he is???

Desmond, in my eyes, is the sort of person who feels like he should be above having any sort of carnal desires. Or, at least, he resents having sexual thoughts and instincts that he feels are out of his control. Being a complete horndog is for normies. If you ask him, he's one of the smartest men in the world. That's why he's still alive, still playing the game. What sort of genius super spy can't keep a firm hold on his own baser urges?

His accursed, mammalian hind brain doesn't control him. You don't control him.

He doesn't like the power he perceives you as having over him when he's attracted to you, especially if he's so into you that he feels compelled to act on those feelings. I think a situation like that would drive him to genuine madness. That was sort of my mantra when I was writing his Kinktober entry last year, actually. He's a sour-ass, self-important twat, so it's also hard to picture him having the kind of rapport you'd need with a partner to be into kinkier stuff...you know, the kind of stuff he'd deny being into until his dying breath.
