“Someone has to look after me, you should be honored that I’m entrusting you with this task,” Stellan quipped with false haughtiness. “Which now that I think about it, it probably wasn’t a good idea to trust you in the first place, because you’re the one throwing me off the cliff.” All he wanted to do in that moment was weasel his way into Cassius’ arms; his fond tone and facial expression only made his heartbeat faster, and it was an unusual, w e l c o m e d feeling. Months before, he would have tried his best to ignore it, tried to stop it, but he was past the point of no return now, and he didn’t dislike that as nearly as much as he thought he would. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Any feeling involving Cassius Stellan began to love as easily as breathing air.
Stellan’s breath caught and he couldn’t help the soft grin that passed over his features as he breathed out, “I amaze you?”
Cassius had to let out a short laugh at Stellan’s retort. A long time ago it would be a scoff that would accompany the words that were to come from his own mouth to counter Stellan’s, but those days were over now. Now, the other boy’s smart mouth made Cassius want to kiss him senseless more than anything else. And right at this very moment, it was exactly what he wanted to do. “I never did agree to look after you,” he replied lightly, trying to ignore that urge. But gods, it wasn’t easy at all to control himself. Especially when Stellan was looking absolutely and utterly beautiful with that smile. Fuck, I sound like a lovesick fool. Why am I—Oh, fuck it.
Unable to help himself, his right arm shot out to wrap itself around Stellan’s waist, drawing the son of Aphrodite into him. “Fuck yes,” Cassius murmured, holding Stellan’s gaze when he softly breathed out the question. “You amaze me. In so many different ways.”
