Surrendering IS Frightening; BUT We CAN Do It!
I give advice to my mentees everyday to surrender to what is happening to them. Can I take my own advice?
That’s the main question: Can I take my own advice?
Well, I’ll be kind to myself, and forgive any mis-actions when I don’t make the BEST decisions. I will say, I am not perfect by any means. I, myself, have a few great mentors, but none that I talk to regularly. I think that by me saying: “Surrender” to those who come to me for advice helps back up their own decision. By me saying “Surrender” to myself, I have a sense that I still need a second opinion, an outsider to look at the situation and help me push through on the path that is best for me.
Though I made it complicated: YES I can listen to my own advice, but as a human, with a little resistance.
Some celebrated Easter yesterday, it is the beginning of a new life, a new chapter in the Bible, and a new way of looking at god. What I said to my pastor yesterday is: “I struggle with the fear of my own unknown self that is developing.”
I really have to do a lot of self talk in the morning: “This is a new life, I am okay with change, I surrender to what will come.” which exhibits my FAITH.
Practice self talk each day: our perceptions of the world are based on what we say to ourselves internally. We can choose positive or negative points of view. It is not the world that changes, it is our lens. Funny how that works.
