When your mom raises you her daughter like a perfect warrior because she wants to prove to her mother and family and herself that she can do things right and is successful and normal and Nothing's Wrong but you are pulling away from that because you're your own person and it's bringing out her soul crumbling anxiety that you have to deal with.... there’s a decent amount of talk surrounding the idea that comics, as we know them, are not a particularly good medium for telling cohesive stories. There will be retcons, there will be disagreeing authors and artists, and even the most lovingly crafted and well thought out run will eventually be undercut by something that comes after it, and will likely be undercutting something before it. This is just a fact of the medium, but honestly, it’s one of the things I love about it- because with this contradiction, with it’s indecisiveness, what we end up when a character has been being written for long enough is a portrait that’s… kind of closer to a person, in imitation, than a lot of other mediums can get to? A comic character’s lifespan can include so many small events and conflicting stories and different arcs and hangups, in way that’s very hard to achieve for a character from a play, a movie, even a standalone graphic novel. It’s a level of detail and layeredness that mimics how a person exists. Lives aren’t contained within a single narrative. They’re different people at different times, they have more experiences than any one person could know about. It’s… I don’t know. It’s just one of my favorite things about the genre

"Colón Fábrica" - factory of the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Teatro Colón is one of only 6 theatres in the world that produces all of its own scenery and costumes. Its production is handmade and the crafts are taught in its own Higher Institute of Arts (ISATC).

This factory and storage place has an exhibition of some of the materials used for eleven operas: Don Carlo, Madama Butterfly, Nabucco, La Finta Giardiniera, A Streetcar named Desire, The Tales of Hoffmann, Rigoletto, Aida, Turandot, L'elisir d'amore and La bohème.

it's actually crazy like kind of unbelievable how much racism ppl just expect you to put up with to be polite. like i have so many little experiences where a friend-of-a-friend said something awful and racist to me and i am very clearly hurt and upset and then the friend just expects me to be polite and not say anything not react not even be angry. like when ur not white ur never allowed to be angry. if ur angry ur being too aggressive. you never get to expect an apology, either. expecting an apology for the racist way people hurt you is always asking too much. you never get an apology. you never get to be angry. you never get to say it hurt you. you're just supposed to pretend you didn't hear it, didn't read it, didn't notice. you let things go because it's the only way to have friends.
