okay ive decided on aseliorus and nachtskinhren. both creatures ive known are good but that i basically never see
asel is genuinely impossibly slept on. pretty damn fast with good stamina and decent damage, kind of whatever bulk, but where it actually shines is its abilities and status. asel has FIVE wingshred, the highest ive ever seen and potentially the highest in the game (im not sure how to verify that without manually going through every wingshredder, but still), great bleed and injury, on an all things considered pretty workable bite cooldown. harden to make itself tankier, healing step to keep itself healthy in face tanks, thorn trap to instantly lock down anything getting cocky or stop anything chasing it. asel is terrifying and NOBODY uses it. it scratches the urge in my brain to pick up random creatures nobody remembers are even in the game. it cant actively catch and chase down aerials in the air but it punishes anything that lets its guard down HARD
nacht on the other hand occupies a much more active role, hence why im aiming for both. with good bulk, a good jump and grab, injury, the oddball ability in snowshield and a really helpful passive in keen, nacht is surprisingly capable for how little it shows up. being able to nab and shoot down fliers midair is really great (even if not unique to it by any means), especially considering nacht has a lot of other nasty offensive statuses and can lock something in with it with snow shield. its kind of outshone by imea in a lot of ways as imea has much better damage and bulk while also having pretty much everything nacht actually Needs, but nacht gets my bias thanks to keen and me just liking it more. ive always really liked nacht im not passing up my chance at finally getting to use it lol
i came super close between a few others though. imea i was also looking at because its just fucking impossible to deal with between all its tools and its massive damage (and i still might go back on nacht and grab this honestly, its just genuinely too good to not use and im kind of shooting myself in the foot here by not using it), zeth is another super slept on option with crystal breath and how relatively tanky it is, frigi has an amazing defensive spread and really just needs more damage to really take off. but again i just like nacht more, i dont really like relying on crystal breath to knock things out of the air cause if i miss the wingshred im useless, and frigi is Nice but asel is just kind of it but better as an actual anti air
nacht's set is gonna be really just any damage dblr, powerful, dolt/stick(?) to make sure im not giving up on all of my speed and stamina. nacht catching fliers midair is gonna be super important so even if i could really benefit from more damage investment im going for my hops
asel is powerful bite/damage double void. all in on damage as with harden and heal step i dont think asel needs a ton of help in the weight department, especially considering fliers tend to be super light and even the ones that arent dont really wanna see five wingshred anyways
sorry theres so many of them
i know i complain about sonaria A Lot but genuinely the extent to which the progression is completely fucked is hard to describe
youd think stronger, larger creatures would be locked behind more effort and weaker creatures would be easier to get but in some cases it almost feels like the opposite? not exactly but like. meta defining creatures are locked behind like, gachas (which are almost all early game), creatures that see exactly 0 play are impossible to get because theyre stuck in annual events and can only be gained through like, grinding event currency or minigames or something. the actual effort and/or money you put in doesnt always correlate to giving you an actually good creature and its really frustrating
and i guess veneration is Kind Of Better but venerating a specific slot to max doesnt actually get you anywhere in the game, it doesnt unlock anything else, it just upgrades that specific slot's stats. if it like upgraded the whole Species for you somehow, in some sort of mastery-like system, that would be really cool and make it a lot more worth it, but. nope
and then theres trait grinding which. is genuinely just more like gambling. sit for several hours for not even the guarentee of the right traits on a slot you want to use
so youre left with a game where you can aim for one specific really good species early on, go through grind hell of trait hunting and venerating, and then there is NO push to keep getting more species, play other creatures or progress in any other meaningful way
if u could expand on one (1) existing ability or stat or mechanic in cos (like for abilities an example in the game is jump, they r diverse in that they can go up or forward in unique trajectories, or it could be adding something unique and fun like eskar's back jump), what would it be? ignore practicals here we r playing if-cos-was-good fantasy
tail whips, i think. as of right now tail whips do not apply status of any kind even if the primary attack Has status, and i think its a really big missed opportunity for some really interesting creatures. the idea is kind of there in spirit as a lot of creatures have a weaker, status-filled Primary attack and a stronger Secondary attack, but imagine if like.. tail whip did injury, or knocked someone backwards, or did like half a second of shock. or had a separate bite cooldown. theres a lot of funny sets that you could have if you just made tail whips more unique, and i think it means it could be given to more creatures. etc
centipede girl again. it just occurred to me that i can't think of any creatures that have a stinger... surely there's at least one right? but regardless. we need to take over sonar studios and make 100 bugs immediately. falls to my knees. xele is so bad.....
theres a few with stingers! dabae, beezu haechionx have typical wasp abdomens, and anutill Kind Of has a stinger. none of them use their tails at all outside of like, aggro anims, but maybe some day
there might be more those are just the ones coming to mind
are there any good centipede or centipede-adjacent creatures that aren't xele
unfortunately not because if there Were id be maining them
sonaria just dont like bugs. the bugs we DO have are good but they dont wanna make more. we have to make the 90th cat instead
dolt on eskarlor is pretty good
ESKARLJ TECH
best on flat surfaces and will send you SUPER far extremely fast if done in the right spots. i shot from the left side of oasis to the entrance to mesa in about a second flat
struggles heavily on downward slopes, can work on shallow upward slopes but does not work At All on steep enough upward slopes
you really gotta spam spacebar for this one. it might take a second to catch
especially if youre running powerful eskar (which. why wouldn't you be), dolt is a must for the jump stam reduction
immediately eats your stamina even with dolt so if you're doing this, especially mid fight, keep stam in mind
IF doing this in mid fight, pairing the startup with reflect is a good way to ensure you escape safely
very few people are likely anticipating you to pull a mario 64 on them and likely wont prepare for it at all (and really how could they). even if this eats your stam, itll take whoevers after you a second to catch up, especially if you were hitting them and gave them all that injury
much Like mario 64 it relaly does look like they forgot to cap backwards jump speed which (combined with eskar's very shallow and short jump, low jump stamina cost, double jump, and dolt's jump stamina reduction) is what allows this to happen. HOWEVER i am looking at different creatures to try this out with, eskar is just the one creature i know of with a backwards jump
dolt on eskarlor is pretty good

any thoughts on the wuggawyrm....
its only real use in like actual combat is for trolling in all honesty or like, making burrowing ankebiters'/light fliers' lives hell? defensive statuses (even if high) dont really synergize well with sticky fur, nor are those statuses high enough to really make it count unless youre fightinf something in your weight class which you probably Arent in all honesty. i can see a world where someone makes a devious bite/(dmg, health, weight) pig/cat set that annoys everyone but theres just such better options for anklebiters that actually put in work that like. is it worth it
its not baddd per se but you have to want to use it. and unless you are exclusively fighting shit in the weight class of like.. aereis, you are doing very little. wugga has some funny traits for sure but if you are actually looking for results i wouldnt

if I like playing valky, do you think fairiocris is worth a try (and a purchase, I'm not super shooms rich atm so it'd be an investment) or do you think I should stick to valk? at a glance, valky seems to have overall better stats (higher health/weight/healing) and water as a last-ditch escape but fairiocris has similar, if slightly more appealing abilities (heal breath, and speed blitz is an equal tradeoff from speed steal) and it actually has statuses at the cost of a worse bleed vulnerability. I tend to lean towards support when I play healer as opposed to offense (and I often used speed steal as a debuff for allies to catch up to an enemy as opposed to an escape tool), but I'm definitely a good swooper and I find that valk can be easy to pick off or ignore in the wrong circumstances if there's no opening to heal an ally or in a fight where the enemy/enemies has the brains to focus the healer. anyway, what do you think?
valky i would say outclasses fairi in pretty much every way with the exclusion of fairi having One necropoison and being slightly faster. the only real reason you would really run fairi over valky is if you dont have valky
i can tell you from using both fairi is only marginally more annoying with necro (but is almost always faster to take down thanks to its significantly worse weight, and necro is not disruptive enough on its own to stop someone from taking out something as frail as fairi) and is something that can be easily replicated on valk with jammy slug, or really just any defensive status plushie honestly. almost nothing else fairi has (save for quick recovery and heal breath, but those help a bit less imo when fairi is so frail) can really compare to valky
if youre looking for better survivability and more offensive pressure, try inkpujin. numbers wise it might look frailer than both but it has incredible resistances, hunker, harden, a great disruptive moveset, AND still has better healing than fairi (and better damage than both). it takes a bit of getting used to but if valky and fairi feel too passive and ignorable for you ink might be your guy
GUESS WHO GOT A D/W FEM ETHER SLOT FOR 35K. THATS RIGHT
ether is interesting cause its not a super offensive flier but with some damage investment and status plushies its a surprisingly tanky slower flier with some decent damage and a lot of frostbite. i like putting haunt/cat on mine for maximum flier v flier pain
it is not The Best flier ever and its not something i plan to main at all, i much prefer the utility of haechionx, but its been doing well in hardcore and keen is super useful to have in volatile environments like that
good glys video. glad to see another appreciator of the lizard
glys is insanely good when you have the right movement and everything and i think this video shows it well. and while im personally much more for d/w glys (as i have better safer ways of dealing w/ behemoths and would rather improve my matchups against other t4s) d/b is not bad at all
a lot of people really underestimate glys because its base damage isnt huge and it doesnt have any damaging status and while that IS absolutely true, these are both easy things to add, and you get it on a creature with an otherwise incredible disruptive kit
ive talked my head off about glys already but really. great to see glys love
Lol. Lol
give me 60k for a creature with the lowest damage for a t5 in the game excluding wardens
like at least the wardens have warden's rage and often some offensive status too so they actually have a reason for offensive sets but seraph literally has NEGATIVE offensive status. if anything you want to deal as LITTLE damage as possible to heal status better
i dont understand. why would you not only grind for a dblr on this but charge so much for it. the fundamental understanding of how this creature works boggles my little mind i dont understand you
