( ` he only smiles quietly in return, knowing that she doesn't mean any harm by that and he simply shrugs, glancing down at his coffee cup, and he responds quietly, a little uncertain about his own words ) ... i guess i wanted to see you. ( ` he replies, not knowing just how accurately he'd hit her thoughts, having not been paying attention )

( ` slowly, his focus shifts to retracting his field. the focus that such an act takes leaves him feeling all the more fatigued, though han is far too used to ignoring it. instead of dwelling on the weight of his fingers as they twitch at his sides, he watches the male with a tilt of his head and nods ) life-long user then? ( ` an innocuous question, he poses it with a purposeful lightness of tone and glances down at the male’s hand… what was it with people and handshakes? just the same, his fingers grasp the other’s firmly as he dips his head in greeting ) i’m han.

( ` he nods quietly, his expression contemplative and he blinks at the other quietly ) ... mm. i thought it was normal for a long time. ( ` his lips curve up at the corners and it's rather odd to hear nothing -- it really is, he's so used to hearing everything that this feels empty ) ... taekwoon. pleased to meet you. ( ` his voice is quiet and he turns to face the water again ) ... what was bothering you? ( ` hopefully, the other doesn't mind his question -- he'll never push if han seems unwilling to speak, but perhaps this will tell the other that he's not one to use someone to his advantage and leave again )

( ` he can’t say he didn’t expect it. in fact, it’s exactly what han had been waiting to hear because if he wasn’t a buzzkill worthy of a punch, he was a form of salvation with little value beyond what he could do. the thought is wry, accepting in every form of the word as he reaches forward and allows more of his energy to pour into his fingertips ) something like this is child’s play. ( ` pushing his own negating energy into the other male is easy. all it takes is a warm slide of his fingers over the back of his hand and a lightness to his thoughts to accompany the loss. suddenly, he could do with a five minute nap, but he ignores it and tilts his head ) you won’t notice it until later; right now you’re still in my field.

( ` the feeling is no different from how he'd felt moments before and the words make sense to him, spoken in the other's gentle voice, and all of a sudden, he feels rather off balance. he has no idea what the other is thinking, nor what anyone else is thinking, and strange as it is, nice as it is, he also feels oddly empty ) ... huh. i never knew what it felt like to be quiet. ( ` he murmurs softly before he glances at the other ) ... thank you, uh... ( ` he pauses here, not knowing the other's name ) ... i'm taekwoon. ( ` he holds out a hand quietly, without another thought as to possible side-effects )

( ` while he's never really been a fan of darkness, bugs aren't exactly a favorite of his either ( isn't there that girl called bugs, or something? that'd weirded him out at first ) and it's just as he spots a familiar figure that he hears said person shriek, trying to get something out of his hair. eight legs. hairy -- and he muffles a sharp sound of surprise, both wanting to help and terrified to go near the other ) taeyong!

( ` he merely seems amused by her supposed anger, watching her fondly and he shakes his head with a faint laugh. he doesn't take her words to heart, and perhaps if he were anyone else, he would have retorted easily with the words on the tip of his tongue. love you too. it's what's hovering in his mouth, tasting the words, almost ready to say it -- but jung taekwoon doesn't say these kinds of words without meaning them, and it's with that thought in mind that he holds the words back. who is yoon bomi to him anyways? he doesn't even know. ) of course you do. ( ` the response isn’t new by any measure. in fact, han finds himself lulled into a familiar sense of wry amusement as he watches the male simply react to the absence of sound within his head. it doesn’t look as if he’s getting hit today, though he’s prepared for a cruelty of another kind entirely, he supposes, as his lips part to take a breath and answer ) i can take it away for an hour or so if i touch you. then you could step out of my field and still not hear a thing. ( ` his arms cross over his chest idly, head titling and lips quirking into an absent-minded smile )

( ` terrifying as the idea should be that someone can take away his powers at the touch of a hand, he finds it strangely exhilarating that perhaps, even for a short little while, he can be free. there aren't many people like him, he thinks, people who hate their power as much as he does, especially not in this mutant paradise. it's not that his power is harmful to others, it usually isn't, but to him -- to him, it's a lot more trouble than it's worth ) ... do you think you could...? ( ` his voice is a little hopeful )

( ` she steps into his arms, accustomed to this because of often they had done it since they had met on the airplane to the city — the most embarrassing plane trip ever, considering it had been barely two hours long ) good! or it had been good before someone called me out on an impromptu coffee run ~ ( ` she’s teasing, obviously, before she hears his name being called and she glowers at him ) you ordered already? i told you not to —!

( ` he offers her a small smile, smoothing down her hair gently before he chuckles softly ) ... and since when have i ever listened to you? ( ` he points out in a teasing manner, knowing that she complains because she doesn't like him paying for her, but he likes spoiling her, so more often than not they end up playfully fighting over the bill ) i'm so hurt. ( ` he pretends to be offended at her implication that he'd ruined her day ) hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream. ( ` his voice is soft as he places her drink in front of her )

( ` she had gotten distracted by an owner walking their puppy just about half a block away from the cafe, the little dog jumping about and licking at her fingers excitedly and she’s actually sad to see it go, walking into the cafe with a small pout on her face which promptly disappears when she sees a familiar broad back ) oppppppaaaaaa ~

( ` he turns with a smile, having just paid, and he moves towards her, opening his arms for her in their familiar greeting as he hugs her gently ) ... bomi-ya, hello. ( ` his voice is fond and gentle, his eyes crinkling up slightly at the corners, his lips pressing against her forehead in a very natural action ) ... how are you doing? ( ` he murmurs as his name is called out and he heads over to retrieve their drinks, gesturing for her to grab a seat )

( ` the answer is simple, but it takes too many seconds to piece the explanation together. too many times, it’s ended with a glare aimed his way, or sharpened edges in the brush of shoulders. he’s prepared for that, he supposes, as he opens his mouth and allows his body to relax and prepare for what seems like an inevitable dodge. maybe he’s just grown paranoid. ) i nullified your power. ( ` a glance around them ) and any power from here to there. ( ` his hand lifts to gesture to a tree some distance away, an approximate marker of where his field tapers off into nothing, rather than the negating space that draws his energy slowly. han looks back to the male, waiting ) you won’t be able to hear anyone’s thoughts, if you stand any closer than that. ( ` which he was, though the stranger seems unfazed. huh )

( ` his eyes widen further at the explanation, his lips parting slightly and he seems rather shocked ) ... you nullified powers? in that wide of an area? ( ` he blinks at the other in shock, almost as though he can't quite process what's going on. it's certainly not a bad thing, although his head does feel quite empty now without all the extra thoughts bouncing around in it, and he shakes his head slightly, touching his temple ) ... i didn't even know that was possible... can you do it for extended periods of time, or do you have to always be there? ( ` he finds himself talking more than usual in his excitement, utterly surprised )

( ` she doesn’t bother texting him back since he’s probably rushing to the car and she can’t help but feel slightly giddy that he had texted her first. not that it was unusual, but it was nice to have someone who wanted to hang out with her besides her coworkers. she slows her pace when she knows she’s close to the cafe, not wanting to sit alone like a loser with no friends … sigh. )

( ` he's honestly sometimes at a loss as to what to do with her. she'd been one of his first friends when he'd first come to genosha in search of somewhere he could live in peace. at the time, it was mildly shocking, in a way, to find himself capable not only of making friends, but also of... well, making really close friends. and yoon bomi is certainly one of his closest friends and one of the people he feels the most comfortable around. they're so different, that sometimes it's odd to him, that they get along so well, but something about her helps him open up. ) ( ` it doesn't take long before he's walking into the cafe, glancing around for her and ordering an americano and a hot chocolate with extra whipped cream when he doesn't see her. [he'd broken laws to get here this quickly, he's sure of it.] )
