∗* overdraft —
there waslittle reason to leave with theassemblage of gaudy mutants that inhabited a good two tables at the ever-busy restaurant—she had never been the time too into big gatherings composed mostly of absolute strangers, after all. so it is with a dismissive hand that she waves all invitations to shelve away the slumbering empathy beside her and join them for drinks off—leaving both her and the unconscious boy on their own. and doe to busy herself with an engaging game of tetris on her phone to pass time. though to taeyong’s own credit, despite being asleep throughout the entire dinner, the empathy awoke halfway through her second game. “mm?” doe offers only that in response between fiddling with her phone, tongue brushing over her lower lip absently as her gaze remain fixed on the screen. “how are you feeling now?” the question is laced with concern—however slim—though doe figures as a empath he’d likely already know such a thing. plus the fact that she was seldom the type to ask questions unless it’s actually an answer she wanted to hear. “—i would like to say better than my numb shoulder, but you did get mauled by a yeti not a few days ago…” the dry humor, however, is painstakingly obvious.
he has no particular taste for the dryness on his tongue, but he barely has his eyes open enough to see the glass of water there--or for that matter, the remainders of the food that had basically been picked clean by their previous company--"where'd everyone go?" it's a start, he supposes, though his attention is drawn far too easily to the tendrils of amusement licking at the corners of his every thought. turning slightly in his seat, taeyong rubs his eyes and stares at the woman after dropping his hands to his lap.
"what's so funny?"
rasping, the male clears his throat--nevermind that, considering the dull aching in his head; like aftershocks of an earthquake. quietly, he reaches for his glass of water and downs a few large gulps, "you really stayed here while i slept." not a question, but the subtleties of intonation are lost on him for the moment. his fingers curl around the cool drink, and for a long minute, the numbing effect of the cold water works all too well.
when he speaks again, it's with clarity.
"you should probably be stretching instead of teasing me."
and the quirk of his lips, however minute, allows the tease to shine through his blank demeanor.
