Teatime
My ancestors, watching me dump an entire stick of cinnamon, two cloves, an allspice berry, and a generous grating of nutmeg into my tea, sweetened with white sugar and loaded with cream, while I sit in my clean warm house surrounded by books, 25+ outfits for different occasions, and 6 pairs of shoes, in a building heated so well I have the windows open in mid-autumn:
Our daughter prospers. We are proud of her. She has never labored in a field but knows riches we could not have imagined.
I like this so much better than the idea that our ancestors would be embarrassed or ashamed of us for being “soft” or some crap like that.
I’m a radical inclusionist. I don’t think I have any right to tell anyone else what queerness is or how they’re allowed to experiment with their own identity. “Infiltrators” are a completely negligible problem, respectability politics is bullshit, and any downside of just trusting people with their own experiences is enormously outweighed by the problems caused by gatekeeping
Just mind your own business, I promise it’s okay
CtM Thursday Thoughts
Christmas Special 2020
Shelagh and Gloria
Hello Nonnatuns! Here’s a special Thursday post with some thoughts about the 2020 Christmas special, and particularly about this one plot that I thought was the best thing about the episode–the continuing story of Gloria Venables, and how Shelagh figures into that story. More thoughts follow:

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@faelwenholdsthelight nakey in a sweater! nakey in a sweater!!!
The San Francisco Examiner, California, March 21, 1942
on the upside: i am experiencing a wholesome old-fashioned tearing-up emotional ‘omg look what we humans did holy fuck we’re not all bad’ reaction to photographs of the Actual Vaccine. trucks pulling out! crates being opened! planes being loaded! vials steaming gently as the lid is lifted! first shot going into first ICU nurse arm! 😭😭😭😍😍😍✨💪💗 i fucking love science, etc., etc.
Don't forget a black woman was instrumental in the making of this vaccine!
While we’re at it.
Say a prayer for all the truckers, delivery drivers, and couriers who are delivering this vaccine.
Because of the supply chain issues, they will be some of the last to be able to get it.
They are putting themselves at risk to save all of us.

Hail Tyr
Hail to the eldest adopted son of the All Father Hail to the foster father of the Wolf Hail to the god of sacrifice for the greater good Bless and walk with us this day
So there’s this huge dudebro in my class, who, yesterday, sat next to me. And I’m sitting there sweating because like… I’m wearing my shirt with the lesbian flag on it, and he’s the most popular jock in school, and always has this look on his face that say ‘I can and will kill you’. He looks me up and down, stares at me for a minute and then goes, “So. Girls in skirts and long socks, am I right?”
To which I nodded solemnly, both out of agreement, surprise and also a healthy amount of awkward fear. He nodded and went, “You get it.”
I said, “Yep.” He fistbumped me, and on went our lives.
Oh! I forgot to mention! I saw him at lunch the same day, and he ran up to me, tapped me on the shoulder, pointed at this super sweet girl who comes to GSA and asked if she’s gay. I told him he should ask her because that’s not my place and he said he would.
I thought that would be the end of it.
Except ten minutes later he came back and told me he found out (she’s bi) and that both of us have a shot. I said “You more than me.” because he’s attractive and popular.
But this wholesome dumbass looked really confused and asked, “Because I’m tall?’
So this isn’t lesbian/jock solidarity but I thought you guys would want to know-
My math teacher was trying to fix the rolling whiteboard and he just offhand said “This would be easier with a wrench”
And deadass, dudebro said “Hang on” and then proceeded to pull a fucking wrench out of his backpack
Update- after school today he saw me in the library and he didn’t say anything? He just pointed at the book he was holding and I gave him a thumbs up because it’s a pretty good book, and he went “Yes!” Really quiet and pumped his fist and then left
Okay so today he asked me if I know how to help people having a panic attack and I was like yeah? And he smiled at me and then went “cool I think I’m having one”
And I was like what the fuck Colin we’re in the middle of Tech class sit down and we went out in the hall and sat there for a while and he told me about the test he’s stressed about so we kind of went over his study guide and when he was feeling better he kind of like… smacked his head against mine gently? And I helped him up even though he’s almost a foot taller than me and yeah
Today at lunch we walked to the football field and laid in the grass and I told him thank you for being my friend (because I don’t have that many) and fistbumped me and said, “You always looked so nice and chill, how could I not want to be your friend?”
And honestly y’all, I would’ve started crying if he hadn’t sneezed and accidentally smacked me
People will say “I don’t dream of labor” like that is nice but I just want to shelve books and generate curricula for information access and youth literacy and just because I am opposed to the fact that labor is an obligation to survival under capitalism does not mean that I don’t aspire to labor for the benefit and maintenance of society. I dream of labor that is meaningful and life-giving to my community. I know capitalist alienation has convinced you that existence is ineffectual but it’s not a revolutionary belief. It’s an outgrowth of individualism.
People will say they don't dream of labor and say they want to keep a garden
From Hatred to Empathy
Shout out to everyone who has changed these past four years for the better. I saw an ex-Trump supporter weeping on tiktok after realizing how he’d been brainwashed. We need to celebrate growth and welcome these people into our communities.
So anyway I had a very vivid lucid dream last night, in which the Old Man took me on a tour of the lands where his roots began, and we spoke at length about many things, standing on the frozen stone before a monument of swords thrust into the earth.
Among those things is that he is pleased with and proud of me, as he has been many times before, and in lives before this, and called me an “Audacious thing” with a fond smirk.
Another of those things is that he’s had many new people approach him speaking my name, and that I’m to tell you all that he welcomes each of you, and offers you hospitality, and to trust in your own intuition and that he will be in touch with each of you, and that there’s work to be done, but that many of you are already doing it without knowing.
He also said to be aware, and ‘keep your weapons close to hand, because in the coming days they may be needed. Something is dying, and something is being born, in blood and pain and tears, but the new will be better and more splendid than the old, in ways the old could only ever dream.’
Anyway then he railed me senseless but that’s beside the point.
Three, each next to the other, the one in the center slightly in front of the other two.
Isn’t that the Sverd i fjell monument in Norway?
UH YEAH THAT’S THE ONE THAT’S EXACTLY IT
Like, Specifically on that little ridge of stone between the two bushes on the right is where we stood.
Who is this “Old Man?”
Odin, the Allfather, god of wisdom, war, madness, and many other things, and my patron god.
date a dork who will give you the goofiest smile after making the absolute worst pun ever
