When The Clock Strikes Midnight ♛ Hyelim & Jongup
Hyelim knew instantly what Jongup was looking at on the menu that got that glimmer in his eye to sparkle so brightly. Meat. She remembered because of the numerous times he had told her. Did he know how much she still cared? Did he know that she liked him so much to remember every little detail? How much did he remember? As he smiled and nuzzled his face into his scarf. Gosh he was so cute. “Are you sure? I can always help pay, you know…”
Her mind was all over the place as she struggled with words. She was sure he had no feelings for her anymore but a little part of her hoped for him to come back for her. That he would want her back but nothing thus far. “Y-You bid on me? Did you want to go on a date with me?” She asked as soon as she heard his words, wondering if he did still have feelings. “I’m happy that this date is with you rather than some stranger. I still get so shy.”
She smiled at the waiter as he came over with their wine, thanking him and nodded her head. Hyelim zoned out for a moment as she got distracted by Jongup. She felt her voice caught in her throat as she struggled to find the words to talk to him. It wasn’t until he spoke that she snapped out of her trace. “Oh. Ne.” She smiled at the waiter and chuckled nervously. “Um, I would like steak please and could it please be medium-rare?” Hyelim replied politely, flashing Jongup a smile.
The girl listened to Jongup order and waited for the waiter to leave before speaking again. “So…..what made you want to come to Gangnam?”
"No- It's fine, really. Allow me to pay," he nodded, continuing to offer her a soft smile. It was the least he could do to make up for everything, besides had he actually won this date it was what he planned on doing.
He looked up from the table, his face still hiding behind his scarf. She's happy the date is with me? "I uhm- I didn't like the fact that some other guy might've possibly- uhm.." He paused, placing a hand on his forehead wondering why he was admitting this.. It was embarrasing. There's no way she would still like him one and two he probably looked possessive.. which he had no right to be. Instead of finishing his statement he was happy the waiter butted in just in the nick of time.
"I will have the same," he nodded, before looking up to the waiter handing, him the menu. Dipping his upper body slightly in order to show his gratitude.
Once he scurried off to put their orders in, Jongup found himself lacking an idea of what to say next. He retreated to tracing the top of the wine cup, a small hum radiated off the glass. He looked up happy to hear her speak, "Oh, why? My aunt enrolled me here.. She found me lingering about the city one day and wouldn't let me go until I agreed to get out of uh- the gang life and live my dream for now. He shrugged a bit, "it will be fun while it lasts." He looked up from the glass, flashing her a smile, "how about you, Hyelim. What brought you here?"
